The Gospel

Let's have a word of prayer for we can father.

We just ask that you'll guide us and direct us and a brief study of your word and Bless us to see more clearly The real good news father and and let us be rooted and grounded in the truth.

And so that we may, as Paul wrote, by inspiration, understand that nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Standing back here, I see that's kind of little, but up there it didn't look so little while I was writing it can y'all see that amen and I had to do it in a hurry I wanted to get in here a little early to write some more stuff up here but what I want to say is that the gospel which is the the message of God saving you, the good news, the happy message, the foundation of it will depend upon your understanding of God's love.

That's what's going to be the foundation of your gospel message.

It's dependent upon what kind of love you think God has.

And basically I put these 3 up here because these are probably the most common 3 that are taught and you'll see them more clearly I think as I go along alone but there are 3 Gospels just for consideration the Eros Gospel, Eros is the love of man And what happens is in the Eros gospel, man believes that he must do good works in order for God to be saved.

He is trying to be saved by his own good works and in the Eros gospel man basically thinks he's pretty good and that all he needs to do and in that gospel which is all throughout the Bible it's every pagan religion every false religion pretty much could actually fall all through the Old Testament.

We see this and 1 of the things you see is that man is sacrificing his children, sacrificing this, sacrificing that.

And I put it up Genesis 11, I referenced to it this morning and you know in the Tower of Babel, have y'all read that in Genesis 11, man is attempting to build a tower up to the heavens.

Now This is after the flood, mind you, right?

And what man is saying in essence is, if God ever allows that to happen again, a flood, we're gonna be ready.

So we're gonna build a tower to be able to what?

Save ourself, to get away from the flood.

And the way to save ourselves is we need to build a tower all the way up to the heavens.

The word Babel there, it says it called that place Babel and that word Bab and El is 2 words.

So actually we usually say that was confusion.

We use the word Babylon or we say Babel means confusion but not to the Chaldean.

To the Chaldean their purpose in building that tower was they were doing this man was seeking to get to his God how he was building he was gonna save his self by what his own works so if the flood ever came again because they didn't believe the promise of God.

What did God say with the rainbow and those things?

So they're not walking by faith, they're walking by what?

So in case that happens again, We're gonna have a tower all the way up to what the heavens we're gonna save ourself what by our own Good works or by our own effort and partly here in America There is hardly a person you will come to that doesn't say they believe in God hardly because this is called or proclaimed to be a Christian nation.

I went to the car wash last week in I went Sabbath and Sunday and while I was there I'd asked some of the guys are you Christians and they say well we believe in God and they said we don't have to go to church you know we don't like going to church but hey we believe in God and we're not that bad you know I know we should probably be in church or this and that.

So they're thinking that as long as they're not robbing or stealing or doing some outward thing that they're okay and that by their own efforts they'll be able to attain to righteousness or they'll be able to reach God by their own efforts.

It's basically what Jesus ran into when he was on earth.

Judaism falls in this category and what Judaism was is and Catholicism falls in this care in fact all the isms will fall in this category because it's part God and it's part man And just so you can kind of see, look in John chapter 9, look what they say here.

And I referenced to this and it probably, we may have infuriated some people because they may not know why I said this this morning, I think, or last night, I'm not sure when I said it.

I think it was John chapter 9 And I think I brought it another translation, I don't see my back.

Oh there it is John chapter 9 look what the Pharisees say it And yeah, I know you'll be familiar with this scripture because you've probably heard it and look at verse 31.

Now remember Jesus has done this great miracle.

This man is born blind and nobody else around has been able to heal anybody born blind, right?

If a guy's been blind all his life and now he sees, we all ought to be celebrating in church, right?

But they're questioning and quizzing him because they don't believe Jesus is working the works of God And they say this to him The man answered them in verse 30 and said this Why this is a marvelous thing Isn't it for somebody who was blind to now see?

He's telling them I couldn't see all my life now I can what?

Marvelous thing and and that you know not whence it is and yet he opened my eyes they ought to be saying amen not in this thing look what they say they said now we know what do they know that God here is not what You know what they're calling a sinner?

Jesus They're saying he's a sinner and we know that God does what not hear sinners and what but if any man be a what and what do with his will what happens so the only way he'll hear you is you got to be a what person a good person Anybody got that translation where it says you got to be a good person?

So if he doesn't hear sinners prayers, who prayer has he ever heard?

But they believe according to the gospel that they believe you must be good first before God is going to hear your prayer.

And y'all probably be that sometime or another right y'all fallen or done something wrong and you think well God don't hear a sinner's prayers right anyway this is a conditional gospel that God will save you and I was I used to hear this sometimes people would say you take 1 step and he takes 2.

Now, this gospel, or it's really not a gospel, but it is taught as a gospel, is very prevalent in our United States.

In fact, most of the religious movement is pushing a false gospel in the United States.

I didn't get a chance to even look at my notes on this.

This is just out of my brain here and that's just a few things.

I'm kind of was kind of pushed in right quick there but anyways look at Acts chapter 15.

This is the first counsel with the Christians there and they're having a thing because the Judaizers, people who came out of Judaism are teaching something.

And they're saying in Acts chapter 15 verse 1, do you see what they say?

They say, and certain men which came down from where?

After the manner of Moses, you cannot be what?

So what were they saying you have to do first in order to be saved?

So they were saying salvation comes by surgery, by some outward ceremony, by some ordinance.

First you be circumcised, then you can accept Christ.

If you weren't circumcised to the Jew you weren't hey and some of y'all thinking hard about that ain't you amen well you know Paul writes a whole book to the Judaizers the whole book of Galatian is written about that subject because they began in the flesh in fact I put a Galatian quote put up turn to Galatians chapter 3 it's written about the Judaizers and this is what they did And I'm being nice with it just right now, amen?

Galatians chapter 3, verse 3, are you so foolish having begun in the what spirit are you now made what perfect by what so they started in the spirit but now the people have asked them something has happened They're trying to be made perfect by the flesh and you say well, what is he talking about?

Go to chapter 5 and let's see if he can help us understand Verse 1 stand fast therefore in the Liberty wherewith Christ has made us free and not be entangled again with the yoke of what bondage behold I Paul say unto you that if you be circumcised what happens Christ is of y'all see that I want y'all to see it say it too if y'all see it.

But those guys over there said except you be circumcised you can't be what?

Paul over here says if you be circumcised what happens?

Because they're believing that circumcision saves them.

Some of you might believe that baptism saves you.
