There was a time in my life where I was praying.

I had always felt like God had called me, God had gifted me to minister.

I was doing a lot of preaching, a lot of traveling, and just very busy.

And I thought, I always thought that I would have a family, I always thought that I would have a family.

And at some point you start to wonder, you know, as you get older and people start looking at you like, you know, maybe there's no hope for you anymore.

I remember my grandma, my grandma Clark, she would say, you know, you better get married.

And I used to tell her, I remember I used to tell her, well, grandma, I only need 1.

And so I remember the first time, I didn't really hear about Jane actually.

I was going to a board meeting And I arrived at this city and was checking into my hotel, and just down the desk there was a friend of mine, Dr.

John Chung, who was checking into the same hotel for the same meeting.

And we'd been good friends for a long time.

And somehow there was a problem with his room.

I think the organizers had failed to actually reserve a room for him.

It's like midnight, or close to it, 11 o'clock.

And on a little bit of a whim, maybe an impression, I said to him, I said, you know, if they don't find a room for you, I had gotten an extra key from my clerk.

And I said, I gave him the key, And I told him the room number, and I said, if they don't find your room, I've got 2 beds.

And so I think it was like midnight when I heard a knock at the door, and in comes Dr.

And that was the first time John told me, he said, you know, I have someone I think, I want you to meet.

Now you have to understand, I had been through those types of things, more than I can count.

And it's not that I wasn't thankful or grateful for people's help, but you know, it's just, after a while, it's just awkward.

It takes me a little while to get to know people and build a relationship, and these blind dates and just introductions and stuff, they're awkward.

I was not at all impressed with this suggestion.

We talked about a lot of different things.

In fact, we talked until like 2 o'clock in the morning.

The room was dark and we were just talking.

But then he started coming back on to that.

And so it was a few months later when he started, in earnest, talking.

So it happens that Jane had come with Jake and Helen over to Louisville, I think it was, where GYC was that year.

And I was preaching the last meeting, the Sunday morning meeting in Louisville.

And so, I mean, I didn't see her, but she saw me.

And on the way home, she got a call from John, and he said, so what did you think about the last sermon?

And then he started saying some weird things to her.

And I was like, what in the world is he getting at?

And at the same time he's calling me, he starts really sort of pouring on some pressure.

You need to come and give a Bible study at my house.

And much to my surprise and somewhat chagrin, he even called my parents.

And finally, actually it was Michelle that sort of confirmed what he was saying about her and said that she was a really nice girl and I should meet her.

So finally I said, okay, it can't hurt, right?

I mean, you know, I've survived the last set up, so.

I told John I would give, I would give Bible study at his house.

And it was gonna be middle of March, I think, before I could make it down there.

So anyway, I come down in the middle of March.

Jake actually picked me up at the airport And we met for the first time at Jake and Helen's house.

And the next night she came after work to the Bible study at John's house.

He has a Bible study at his home where he invites his patients to.

And sometimes there's usually 20 or so, maybe 20 or 30 people that come to the Bible study.

And after the Bible study I got up the nerve to ask her for her number.

I mean I was, the next morning I asked John, when do I call her?

You know, I didn't want to interrupt her schedule and everything, and he said, call her at 7.50 in the morning.

She'll be on her way to work, so that's what I did.

And we started talking on the phone, and pretty soon we were talking, you know, a couple hours a day.

I mean, both of us figured we're old enough that we need to know right away if this is something that we're interested in, and if not, if the Lord doesn't lead, and we looked for red flags and we were praying, and we started, in fact, we started, you know, really talking a lot.

And It was a couple months later when Jane made a trip, actually with Jake and Helen again.

I was living up there near Andrews and had a little apartment there on the Nile River.

I had some other meetings down there in the area and seen her some.

We were down by the river and had a little worship together.

And then I don't remember exactly what I said, or maybe even if I do, I'd probably get emotional if I said it.

But I said something along the lines, I asked her if she'd be my girlfriend.

So I started making these trips down to Georgia.

That was taken right after there, after she became my girlfriend officially.

It was, I think the date was April 24, 2010.

And it started a pattern of weekend travel for me.

I mentioned to you earlier, I would start after church in Naperville and make my way down, usually 3 or 4 in the afternoon, so I could get a full tank of gas before I, and I wouldn't have to stop for gas before sundown.

After sundown I would keep driving, get in there late.
