Pastor Shawn Boonstra, a native of British Columbia, comes to the NAD ministerial department from It Is Written International Television. Between 2004 and 2010, he appeared weekly on the main It Is Written television program (and podcast), which is broadcast to more than 140 countries in eleven languages. Before moving to the International broadcast in 2004, Boonstra served as the Speaker/Director for It Is Written Canada, and prior to that, he pastored a number of churches in the British Columbia Conference.

Soul winning has been his passion since he signed on as a Seventh-day Adventist minister.  He became an Adventist during an It Is Written evangelistic series in Victoria, British Columbia 18 years ago, and has been sharing his new-found faith ever since.  If  you ask him, he'll tell you that he thinks about Adventist ministry and evangelism every waking minute of his life.  He has pioneered a number of innovative evangelistic approaches, including short, interactive satellite events such as The Appearing, The Presence, and Out of Thin Air.  He has worked in evangelism in many cultures and at many different scales - with audiences ranging from seven to tens of thousands.

He has authored more than 15 outreach oriented books, and is in demand as an evangelist and as an evangelism trainer.  His clear grasp of Scripture, and his warm dynamic presentation style have been an inspiration to many.  He has a special passion for mentoring young evangelists and for equipping and training congregations to be effective in outreach.   He recently moved to Maryland from Southern California, where he now resides with his wife Jean and their two daughters.

Shawn Boonstra serves as an Associate Ministerial Director. His role at Ministerial is to inspire, train, and equip pastors and churches for evangelism.  As former speaker/director of It Is Written television program, he brings a vast experience of soul winning and evangelistic initiatives to the NAD team.
