I thank you Lord for the opportunity you give us to share about this very important subject and I pray Lord that as we talk you will impress our hearts and that something said something done have 1 of the points or several of the points will help some of the families represented here to do better, have better relationships, communicate better Lord, and walk closer with you.

So I pray for your anointing, We thank you in the name of Jesus Christ.

Homes where God's principles are transferred from 1 generation to the next, which is what we need.

I thought it was kind of interesting to see what kind of home settings we have nowadays.

It used to be that it was just a nuclear family and then a couple of other, but it has changed so much.

It's a new classification for homes, for families, for households.

Have you noticed how young people are taking longer to get married?

I keep saying, son, you need to get married and give me some grandchildren.

And he's like, Dad, I've got plenty of time.

Maybe we have some young people here that are still not really worried about it.

They believe that their traditional view of the family is shared by society and they go happily going around thinking that everybody feels the same way.

Once upon a timers, likely to be religious, They believe that their values and more traditional view of family are not appreciated by wider society.

And I'm going to say, you know, I probably 1 of the once upon a timers because I believe that the family has changed so much.

And sure, you know, we're not going to be judgmental thinking that everything else out there is bad, but there are some very unhealthy ways of raising children and having family, having relationships nowadays.

And so it's kind of something that really concerns me.

We didn't have to spend time with the others, but it's just new ideas on family households.

And never mind things about gender or number of people in the family, because it gets really, really distorted.

So there are some traditional types and of course we start with this is what has been for years the practice and that was the married couple simply husband and wife.

Then the children came and they became the nuclear family and then they had the extended family which was the nuclear family with at least 1 grandparent or 2 and the typical situation was 2 nuclear families having their children and then you know having nuclear families.

New modes of family, new types of families, and the most common today is the blended family, a family in which either or Both parents, partners were previously married.

There are more chairs against the wall over there.

So if you guys, if you want to stand in the back, that's fine too.

But if you want to sit down there are more chairs over there yeah please go ahead don't worry about interrupting yeah right there those are same price so you don't have to worry about it and there's 1 still and 1 over there too and 1 over there So now we have and this is like I said is very very common now is the blended family.

A family where either 1 or both of the parents have had previous relationships that bring their families in together and now they are a new type of family, the blended family.

Of course this is older, this is not just in the last few generations but it's been there for a while.

A lot of young people that are deciding to have children, not married, having children and then continuing as single parents.

There was a time when it was only women, but now it's men doing that.

We have the unmarried family, very common now in society.

I don't want to say they're the majority, but they're very common and you see it in many places.

I haven't seen much of this, but it's happening too.

And it's a group of families that live together and they share everything.

So these are more modern or current modes of family.

Because it kind of shapes the way we think about family.

I found it, I thought about this, it's interesting.

And if you have a thought that is not here, please tell me because I don't think it was exhaustive.

But we have the original family of course.

The intention, at least, was that it would be a nuclear family, because the idea was Adam and Eve and their children, right?

Of course, we know sin came in, and of course, disrupted the family.

So we go then to another model that we find in the Bible, and that is the household.

And household in the sense that it was the married family, the married couple, with an extended number of people within the family reach.

He has his wife, and then he has the second wife and the children.

But in his family, in the household, they had a thousand members.

Because it was only the blood relatives, it was the servants, it was the families of the servants.

And Sister White talks about it in such a way that it was just 1 big family.

And they, by the way, many of them, took the faith of Abraham and lived that faith.

Then we have the multi-generational, and that was Israel and his 12 sons.

They lived either together or close by for many years.

In fact, when they left from where they were to Egypt, they left as a clan, as a family.

They established themselves in the territory, and they lived close by.

I was just talking over lunch with someone.

They tell me that his children are just all around close to him.

My son is in North Carolina, which is not too far.

My daughter is in Washington State, really far.

And there are many families that, especially here in the United States, deal with that because jobs become available and because of the times in which you're living, if you get a job you're lucky and if it is on the other side of the country, well, that's the best you can do.

So that was, There were single families in the Bible, single units.
