Happy Birthday AudioVerse!

2m read

Have you heard? AudioVerse turned 4 years old on October 22. As we look back at the last year and the multitude of blessings this ministry has experienced, we can't help but to joyfully exclaim, "What hath God wrought?"

AudioVerse experienced its millionth MP3 download in October 2008, around its 3rd birthday. But the next million came much quicker! Last month, September 2009, just 11 months later, AudioVerse marked its 2nd millionth download. In the history of AudioVerse, there have now been at least 10.1 million web pages viewed and 2.1 million downloads, constituting over 26 Terabytes of data. All that in just 4 years! Currently, AudioVerse is providing around 80,000 downloads per month to around 20,000 different people per month. These numbers are still increasing. And according to Alexa.com, AudioVerse is in the top 5% of all websites globally.

But there's more. Several long-needed developments have taken place which we must share with you. For the first 3 years, AudioVerse's day-to-day operations were a burden almost entirely carried by one volunteer. During the third year, it had become particularly unmanageable. Months' and years' worth of sermons awaited screening and posting. Emails were arriving faster than they could be answered. Many important details were being neglected. Website development was an overly-complex and time-consuming task. But in the last year, things turned for the better:

  1. Personnel - In late 2008, AudioVerse's founders began prayerfully establishing a Board of Directors in order to gain a more stable leadership structure, and an Executive Committee to spread out the workload. These were the most significant developments of all, because they cleared the way for much more.
  2. Recordings on CD - AudioVerse has always lacked a way to meet the demand for recordings in Disc form. But since August of this year, AudioVerse has been partnering with Ouachita Hills Resources in performing this task. Now you can obtain inexpensive Audio CD's of recordings in our catalog, and the students at Ouachita Hills College can gain valuable training in business and media distribution. More products are coming, such as DVD's and MP3 CD's.
  3. Website Stabilization - With the increased amount of help, AudioVerse's technical department has been much more free to pursue this side of the ministry. In July of this year, some critical internal aspects of the website were finalized, a process which has been underway since AudioVerse's birth. This paves the way for adding some long-awaited advanced features, and it frees up the department to further promote the ministry through emerging Internet technologies.
  4. New Web Server - AudioVerse received a new web server last month. Much has been written lately on this subject, so we won't repeat it here. Suffice it to say that AudioVerse is now prepared to handle its traffic demands for years to come!
  5. And more - Other developments are still in the works. Stay tuned!

We owe a debt of gratitude to our loving Heavenly Father for taking care of AudioVerse and blessing it in so many tremendous ways. We never thought it would get so big or that it would happen so quickly! But there is a very real demand for quality, Bible-based, freely accessible messages for God's people. And we are honored and humbled that God has chosen us to help fulfill that need.

Maranatha,

The AudioVerse Team
