Story Time: Singer on the Sand

Hi boys and girls. Let's find out what's happening with Sat. Sat left the meeting with the village elders and his father and he was confused. He thought that the meeting was to plan how to get rid of the big teacher, but all they seemed to talk about was getting him to stop believing in God. Anyway, he went to the meeting. He was excited to learn new Bible verses to to learn more from the big teacher. The big teacher taught them a new song that night. The words went A mighty mountain is our God. A wall that will not falter as they sang. And as they studied, SATU could feel the fears and worries begin to drain out of him. And he filled back up with that joy and that strength that he'd been learning more about. After the meeting, Hans asked him how the meeting with his father had gone and with the village leaders, he asked, did they make a plan? And Satu said, no. They they didn't. They just talked about getting me to stop believing in God. At this point, Hans's father came over and listened in on the conversation a little bit and told Sat not to worry. He put his hand on Sat and said, many trials may be coming your way, but our God is not a God of fear. He is a God of love and peace. Continue being kind to them no matter what, and God will save you and he will protect you. Our God hears our prayers and cares about us. Sat went home feeling so much better. The next morning he got up and went to look for his friends at the beach. He was playing with Marta and Hans when he noticed Gola going down to the fishing boats. That's strange. He thought, we don't normally go fishing in the afternoon. That's something we do in the morning. He ran over to Gola and asked him what he was doing. And Gola said, well, we're gonna go fishing. Me and Guru Moola, he knows a new type of fishing further out in the water and we'll find a new type of fish. You should come with us. Satu said, oh, I need to ask my father first. But Gola assured him, no, I already asked him. And he said, you can go. Satu said, well, can my friend Hans go with us? And Gola said, no. I think we're gonna catch a lot of fish. It's best if just you go Sat turned to Hans and said, don't worry, I'll be back in time for the singing tonight. And he got in the boat with Guru Moola and Gola and out they went. Sure enough way out, they did find some new fish that he hadn't seen before. This was very exciting. And while the men had seemed angry last night, they seemed so much more friendly. Today he began to relax and enjoy their fishing trip. Pretty soon they started to head back. Setu began to get worried. They didn't seem to be going back the normal way. In fact, they seemed to be getting closer and closer to the volcano. He asked what was going on, but the men wouldn't answer him. Their faces seemed cold and hard. He didn't know what was going on. Pretty soon their little boat bumped right up on the shore of the volcano and they threw him out and turned and left instantly. Fear filled his heart. He was scared and worried, but then he remembered all the words that he'd been taught by the big teacher. He remembered the words of the song, A Mighty Mountain is Our God, A wall that will not falter. And though there was fear in his heart, he knelt there on the sand and tried to pray. We need to remember boys and girls when we are scared, there is someone who hears our prayers and our God is not a God of fear. He's a God of peace and comfort. And he does hear us. So if you're ever afraid, remember like Sat did that He is a God that hears our prayers. And you can say prayers to God as well as the evening war on the smoke grew thicker from the volcano. The ground was shaking. There was hissing as the lava hit the water, SATU was sure he was lost. He was sure no one would miss him. Gola and guru moola Shirley had made up a story of what had happened to him when they came back without him. As he cried out to God in prayer, he heard a voice through the smoke, and an arm reached out and grabbed him, and he heard the big teacher's voice. Come back next week and we'll find out what happens next.
