Hello, friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together. Praising him. Joseph Gilmore wrote down four stanzas to this song and gave them to his wife, but little did he know, she secretly sent the poem to a religious paper, the Watchman and Reflector in Boston. That's the name of it. They published it and without his knowledge, and one day, three years later when he opened up a him book, he discovered his poem set to music what? That was such a shock. William Bradbury had seen the poem in the Watchman and Reflector, and he went and wrote a tune for it and then published it. Wow. Crazy story, but that's how we get the song. He lead it. Me. He. Hi boys and girls, welcome back. I'm glad that we get to learn some more today about Paul and his missionary journey. Lord, thank you so much for today for allowing us to wake up and to be able to spend time with you today. We ask that you'll come into our hearts and help us to be more and more like you. In Jesus' name, amen. You know when Paul left Corinth, Aquila and Priscilla, the tent makers went with him. Isn't that neat? They were able to travel with him. Have you ever gone on a road trip or traveled with a bunch of other people? I think of mission trips. I was on several mission trips as a teenager and I love them because we all got to travel together. We got to tell people about Jesus. We got to work hard. We got to learn new foods and new cultures, and it was just a really exciting time. It was short. It was sweet, but it was an amazing time. It's always so much more fun when you have a team or you're with a group that you get to do something with them and do it together. I think that's how Paul and Priscilla and Aquila were feeling. They got to go on a missionary journey together. Well, they went to Ephesus and that's where, guess what? They set up their tent making business. They were able to earn some money while also telling people about Jesus. Did you know that today there are many missionaries in communist countries who are called tent makers. It's where they go and they have a job to do, but then they use that opportunity in a place where maybe Christianity isn't allowed, but they use that opportunity to tell people about Jesus. Wherever they are, they share Jesus with others. I hope you're sharing Jesus with others, with your friends, with your neighbors, with your school friends, with people at the park or the escape park or wherever you go. I hope that you are showing that Jesus lives inside of your heart and that you can help others to learn more about him. Well, Paul didn't stay in Ephesus very long because he wanted to go on to Jerusalem, but he did talk about Jesus in the synagogue on Sabbath. Remember, the synagogue is where the Jews would meet. Well, he would go in and talk about Jesus. Now, many of the Jews did not believe in Jesus. They were looking for a Messiah, but they didn't believe that Jesus was the Messiah. The people were so interested that they wanted him to stay longer, huh? Paul couldn't do that because he was trying to get to a feast in Jerusalem, but he did promise to return. He left Priscilla an Aquila there to help the people learn more about Jesus. Let's look it up. Acts chapter 18 verses 1920 and 21. Acts chapter 18 verses 1920 and 21. Ax is in the New Testament. It's after John, but it's before Romans, so it's right in between those two books. Do you remember who wrote the book of Acts? It was Dr. Luke. He was the one who wrote Luke and he wrote, ax. Well, we're going to to Acts chapter 18 verses 1920 and 21. If you need more time, press pause. When you're ready, press play again. Let's see what that says. And he came to Ephesus and left them there, but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the juice when they desired him to carry a longer time with them. Hmm. Consenting not, but royal saying, I must buy that comment into Jerusalem, but I will return again and unto you if God will as in sale from While Paul was gone, Aquila and Priscilla talked to the people about Jesus, and they soon became friends with a man named Apollos. Apollos had come to Ephesus from another city, so he wasn't born and raised there. He was like a transplant. That's what we kind of call it. When people are taken from one place and they move to another place, it's like they're transplanted like plants where you take it out of a container and you put it in a different place in the ground. Well, Apollos had come to Ephesus and Apollos had also heard John the Baptist preach. And you know what? After he had heard John the Baptist preach, he had been baptized. He knew the scriptures. He was a powerful speaker. Look at verse 24 and 25. Acts chapter 18, verse 24 and 25, And a certain June named Apollos, born as Alexandria in eloquent man and mighty in the scriptures came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord and ENT in the spirit. He spank and taught, diligent in the things of the Lord. No, the baptism of John. There's a lot of good things that the Bible has to say about Apollos. He was eloquent. Do you know what eloquent means? It means they're very good, or a person is very good with words. They know how to express and talk and share ideas in a way that makes it clear and easy to understand. They might even use big words or small words, but they're able to teach people in a way that makes it easy for them to understand. And the Bible also says that he was mighty in the scriptures. If someone is mighty, what does that mean? They're strong. Yeah, so he was strong in the scriptures. It's not that he was strong and could pick up a scroll or a Bible. It was that he knew verses and verses, and he was able to share clearly, and he really understood the Bible well. He had gone and he had seen John the Baptist. He had been baptized by John the Baptist. He was an eloquent speaker. He was mighty in the scriptures. Wow. Bible has a lot to say about Apollos as aqui. Priscilla listened to Apollos. They could tell that he needed to learn some more. He needed to know that Jesus is our savior. He didn't know that. He needed to know that we can't save ourselves. It's only through Jesus and his power, and he needed to know about the Holy Spirit who helps us day by day to become more and more like Jesus. So what did Equi and Priscilla do? Look at verse 26, And he began to speak bold in the synagogue, who when a lion Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them and expounded unto him the way of God more. Perfect. They took him aside. Did they get up in the middle of church and say, Apollos, excuse me, what you're teaching, you need to learn a few more things. No, they pulled him aside and they shared with him. They explained to him the way of God more accurately. So he was able to understand better about Jesus, about the Holy Spirit, about the ways of God. Apollo's gladly accepted what Aquila and Priscilla taught him and shared with him, and he became a strong missionary for Jesus. You know what? He ended up leaving Ephesus. And what message did the church members send to the believers in places where he would go? It was like he was a missionary. He was sent out. Look at verse 27 and 28. What were the believers saying about Apollos And when he was disposed to passing into Akk? The breath when wrote, Exor the disciples to him who when he was come help them much, which had believed through grace for him, might convinced the Jews and that publicly <unk> by the that Jesus was Christ. They shared with him. They said, receive him. Listen to him. He has a message to share that you can benefit from boys and girls. Do we wanna be missionaries like Apollos? Do we wanna be humble when we're corrected, when someone says, let me share with you a little bit more and we understand more, we wanna have that humble spirit. Apollos was thankful. He was glad that Aquill and Priscilla shared with him more information and he was a mighty preacher for God. I wanna be like Apollos, don't you? I wanna share Jesus with those around me. Let's bow our heads and pray. Lord, thank you so much for this story about Apollos, that he was a mighty powerful speaker, but there were a few things that he needed to still learn, and when he was taught those things, he was humble and grateful. Help us as we learn and grow as people teach us new things. Help us to be humble, to learn it help us to be thankful and grateful so that we can learn more and become more and more like you. We love you so much, Jesus. Be with us today in everything that we do. Help us to follow you and to stay in your footsteps. In Jesus' name, amen. Philippians four, eight. Whatsoever.
