Hello friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together praising him. When I think of surrender, I think the best example is Jesus. He was willing to give up heaven, the honor of billions of angels and being face to face with his father just for us. He gave up or surrendered to the plan that he would die just for you. He said, not my will, but thy will. That is the ultimate surrender. Jesus. Last time I told you a story about a woman that I met at the park and we struck up a conversation because my infant son was drooling all over. His shirt was just soaked with drool. We struck up a conversation and exchanged phone numbers and we started hanging out together. And as she learned more and more about what I believed and as as she saw the way that we lived our life, she wanted that in her life. She saw that something was missing. So I am going to finish telling you that story today. And then we're going to continue with the story of Paul and ESUs and Fullman the master. But before we do, let's bow our heads in prayer. Lord, we are going to open up your word. We're going to read from it. We're going to learn about it. We're gonna talk about it. I ask that your Holy Spirit will be in our hearts and in our lives, that as we learn and study and read, that you will lead us and guide us in Jesus' name. Amen. So as my friend and I started getting together more, spending more time together, as our kids played a lot together, we would do things multiple times a week, go to the park, go for walks, all kinds of things. As we started getting to know each other and developing this friendship, she started wanting to study the Bible. So her husband and her started Bible studies. And as they were going through, there was one belief that they weren't quite sure about and that was the Sabbath. And as they studied the Sabbath, they finally said, you know what? We don't believe what you believe. And so they basically, they were still friends with us, but they decided that they were gonna stop with the studies and just not go any further. They were, they were good. God was doing a work in their lives and and they were Christians and they were gonna start going to their Sunday churches and find a good Sunday church. But they just, yeah, the whole Sabbath thing they didn't agree with. Well, I kept praying for them. And I remember at one time I was on my knees in my living room as my kids were taking a nap and I was just praying and I was crying and I was like, Lord, don't let the seeds that have been planted to be snatched away by Satan. Don't let those roots go shallow and then wither and die. Lord, please, please help them to come to the place where they fully surrender to you. And I just prayed about it. It was a huge burden on my mind. And I knew that it was bothering her because she would keep bringing it up. I wouldn't say anything, but she would keep bringing it up like she had to justify the actions that she was making. Well, pretty soon it was time for an evangelistic series and I invited them to come and they were not really wanting to come because they thought that they already had studied and they knew what they knew and they didn't really agree with us. But because of our friendship, she finally decided, you know what, I'm gonna go. So they did. And they came every night. I think they might've only missed one. And as they came, the Holy Spirit was working on their hearts. And by the end she said, I know that this is truth. I'm going to follow. And you know what? They are following that truth still today. It is such an amazing testimony of how God uses you. He uses me in everyday conversations with those around us to help them learn more about Jesus. Well, here is Paul and he's a prisoner in his own home, but he is able to have the opportunity to minister to ESUs and ESUs. The runway slave was now a Christian. Both he and Paul knew that he should pay back what he had stolen. Do you think that was a hard decision for ESUs? You better believe it. He had chosen to do what he knew was right even though it wasn't easy. Do you think FileMan would forgive him? It might not be easy for FileMan to do so. You know what Paul did? Being the good friend. And remember, Paul knew FileMan. He was the one who had baptized him and taught him about Jesus and about the truth. So Paul decided to write a letter and he wrote a nice letter. You know what that letter is? It's actually the book of FileMan that we have in our Bibles. Paul wrote a letter to FileMan and he gave that letter to ESUs and said, here, when you go back, take this letter with you and give it to FileMan. So that's what ESUs did. And that letter is right here in the Bible. We can read it in a very short amount of time cuz it's not very long at all. But let's see how Paul started the letter. So we're gonna look it up, FileMan, and we're gonna look at verse one and two. Now remember the last time we talked about FileMan, it doesn't have any chapters, it just starts out with the greeting from Paul. There's no big number one or big number two. It's just all the little numbers below it, all the verses. So FileMan is only one page long. So let's look at FileMan verse one and verse two. Fullman is right after Titus in the New Testament. Remember you have your five Ts, first and second Thessalonians first and second Timothy Titus, and then you have Fullman. It's just that tiny book. And right after FileMan is Hebrews and James. So it's toward the back of the Bible, back of the New Testament fullman. And we're gonna read verse one and two. If you need more time, just press pause and when you're ready, you can press play again. Fullman verse one and two. Let's see how Paul started out this letter. Paul, prisoner of Christ, Jesus and Timothy, our brother to FileMan, our beloved friend and fellow laborer to the beloved Atia Archus, a fellow soldier into the church in your house, Paul is greeting FileMan. He's greeting the other believers in the church and those in his household. Paul has a relationship with him, doesn't he? Well, you know, Paul could have told Fe Leman that because he was now a Christian, he should forgive ESUs and he should be kind to him. But did Paul do that? No, he didn't. Look at verse eight and verse nine. So just skip down a little bit. We read verse one and two. Now we're going to read verse eight and verse nine. Therefore though I might be very bold in Christ to command you what is fitting yet for love's sake. I'd rather appeal to you being such a one as Paul the agent, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ. Paul is saying, Hey, I could command you or tell you that you know what, you are a Christian and so you need to do what is right. But he says, but instead of doing that, I'm want to appeal to you. Paul had such a love for FileMan and he wanted to see ESUs and FileMan be reunited. I kind of wonder if maybe Flaman's eyes filled with tears as he read that letter. Maybe he thought about Paul being a prisoner in chains. Do you think that Flaman's feelings began to change? As you read Paul's letter, what do you think you know when somebody begs us or pleads with us to change our mind or to think about something in a different way than maybe we've thought of before? It really makes an impact on us. It really makes a difference When somebody is an advocate, when they stand up for what is right and they, they help to persuade other people to change their minds, it ends up making a difference and an impact in those around us. Jesus wants us to stand up for what is right. He wants us to stand for the right, even if everything around us is falling apart, that we will stand for what is right and we will help to bring people together. We will help to bring them into unity. He wants us to be a peacemaker. I wanna be a peacemaker, don't you? There's a verse in Matthew that says, blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Did you know that God wants us to be peacemakers just like Paul was. Paul was trying to bring peace and unity between ESUs, in between FileMan, and so he wrote this letter, boys and girls, I wanna be a peacemaker like Paul. I wanna help people to get along. How about you? Let's go ahead and pray that Jesus will help us to be a peacemaker. Lord, thank you for this story of Paul and how he was a peacemaker. Lord, help us to be a peacemaker. Just like Paul, help us to be a peacemaker just like you. Give us your words, give us your thoughts, give us your actions to be able to bring unity to those around us. We love you Lord. Amen.
