5. Question & Answer

I'm going to go to a question that's based on the latter rain.

It says, Zechariah 10, verse 1 says, we should ask for the latter rain in the time of the latter rain.

How are we going to know when we're living in the time of the latter rain in order to ask for it.

Acts chapter 3 has a direct answer to the question.

So the question is, if we're supposed to pray for the latter rain in the time of the latter rain, surely the Bible must give us a clue to know when we are in the time of the latter rain.

And I'll just tell you right up front, we've been in the time of the latter rain for many years already.

It says, Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out when the times refreshing shall come.

Or some would say, so that the time of refreshing may come, whichever way your Bible says, the connection is given that the time of the refreshing, which is the latter rain, is associated with the time of blotting out of sins.

And the blotting out of sins is a function of the judgment.

The judgment began in 1844, therefore we have been at the time of the latter rain since 1844.

Next question is related directly to latter rain, so we'll go through this 1 as well before we move on.

Is the latter rain going to come as a message in this generation?

When Elmira talks about God giving his spirit, 1 thing she brings out is that the spirit doesn't have an agenda to be highly predictable.

So that we cannot tell the Spirit how to come, or say precisely how the Spirit will come.

But we can know from the book of Joel that the Spirit will come as a teacher of righteousness.

And a teacher always has a message or a lesson.

So we can be sure that the latter rain will come with a message of righteousness, with a message about righteousness.

Now when Elmight says that the message about Jesus and his righteousness will swallow up every other interest, and when she says that the latter reign is going to come with power, either we're going to have 2 very parallel events that are different, or else those are going to be the same event.

It'll be a message about pricing his righteousness, but it won't just be facts.

It'll be the spirit and power behind that message.

Okay, next question just came in by text.

It says this, and I'm very pleased to use you for this based on what you just preached.

It says, please clarify, when can you say this individual has gone too far, and should be stopped as a presenter, preacher, teacher, in light of the last presentation that you gave, in the case of wrong doctrine or fanaticism?

So I feel like I could have given a presentation on that topic, but I don't think I've done it yet.

But Romans 16, verses 17 and 18 gives you a criterion or a rubric for measuring who it is that we should, that has influenced we should shut down.

It says, Mark those that cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned, and avoid them.

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus but their own belly, who by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts, the word simple there means uneducated or the unknowing, so that if in your church you have people who are new or baby Adventists or baby Christians or even youth that are just growing up, those are vulnerable people to persons who are teaching false doctrine.

The burden sits on the elders of a congregation to protect those people from false doctrine by shutting the mouths of those whose teaching is fighting or contradicting or causing division over the truth that's present for this time.

I would say that's the 3 of those messages.

So someone who counters the substitutionary atonement, someone who counters the idea that Babylon has fallen, someone who argues against the judgment, our being now, someone who is saying we shouldn't take the gospel to the whole world, to this generation, someone who is arguing against any of those things, I think Romans 16 makes pretty clear they should not have access to our youth, our people.

Can I just ask another question based on your answer?

You said something about those that talk about not preaching the everlasting gospel.

When Elmite describes a heretic, she describes them not as in a position, but on a journey.

And it looks like that quite generally, their journey reveals more and more of their character.

So that oftentimes you can't tell where a false teacher is going when he begins his false teaching.

Jeffrey Pippenger, who even when I began to know him some 10, 12 years ago, I never would have imagined a day would come when he would be teaching that we should not now be doing evangelism.

But that's precisely what Jeff Pippenger is teaching now.

On the basis that we need to warn the Adventist first, but I'm thinking right now, Councils to Parents and Teachers 514, there are many that would work if urged in the service and who would save their souls by thus working.

God doesn't save us before we get to work, he saves us through the working.

And to say that we should now stop taking the gospel to the world so we can help the church there's hardly something more backwards than that such a contradiction to the first angel's message thank you where should we go how does the 25 20 prophecy destroy the 2300 day prophecy?

I believe that the 2520 can contradict the 2, 300 days indirectly, as well as directly.

And I think there's 2 ways in which it can cause conflict in 1 area is regarding hermeneutics the way in which we studied a Bible and secondly in regarding ring regards to division and that's where I think this topic has touched me most where I've seen people and friends leave the church.

And I just wanna read a statement to you.

It's a statement from LNG White's writings.

Manuscript releases, 9 manuscript releases.

It reads, from that which the Lord has been pleased to show me, there will arise just such ones all along, and many more of them claiming to have new light, which is a side issue and entering wedge.

The widening will increase until there is a breach made between those who accept these views and those who believe the third angel's message.

Okay, the important parts coming right now, the important parts coming right now.

Just as soon as these new ideas are accepted, then there will be a drawing away from those whom God has used in his work.

4, so now she's about to describe the psyche of people who have heard the new light, the supposed new light.

She goes on to say, "'For the mind begins to doubt and withdraw "'from the leaders because God has laid them aside and chosen more humble men to do his work.

I think that's a way in which the 2, 520 prophecy can take away from the 2, 300 days.

That people begin to reason in their mind that if this is new light and the ministers aren't accepting it, the psyche of individuals is automatically that the church must be falling away.

And then you'll see people leaving the church, which I've seen.

And I think in that way, in a very real way, it can take away from the 2, 300 days.

The second point is regarding hermeneutics.

So you heard me say that I think that the 2520 prophecy is dangerous in 2 respects.

1 in regards to, what did I say, division.

Secondly in regard to hermeneutics and by hermeneutics I just mean the way in which the methodology, the methods that we go about studying the Bible.

I'm gonna read to you another statement from L.N.G.

I know it can be quite difficult to just hear statements read at you, but I just think it's such an important statement So I'll read it and I'll try and be as clear as I can and I hope you bear with me This statement is taken from great controversy 1888 edition page 598 but you can see me enough for the reference just to It's not too long.

There she writes, the truth most plainly revealed in the Bible, sorry, the truths most plainly revealed in the Bible have been involved in doubt and darkness by learned men who with a pretense of great wisdom teach that the scriptures have a mystical, a secret spiritual meaning not apparent in the language employed.

They teach that it has a secret, so a mystical, secret spiritual meaning not apparent in the language employed.

It was to such a class that Jesus declared, you know not the truth, neither the power of God.

The language of the Bible should be explained according to its obvious meaning, unless a symbol or figure is employed.

The way I relate this to the 2520 is you may have heard Eugene speak this morning about the way in which the word times is read in Leviticus chapter 26.

To read that as though it's talking about a time prophecy is to read it not according to its obvious and apparent meaning, right?

It's to almost suggest that there is a secret spiritual meaning which isn't apparent in a natural reading.

Why that is so devastating is because where do you stop if you can read the Bible any way you want?
