God With Us

Well, I want to share a brief message with you this morning called, Emmanuel, God with us.

And how many of you are thankful that the Lord is with us?

And this year is, this time of year rather, is always a reminder that God is always with us.

And some people say, well, you know, Jesus wasn't born on December 25th.

But the truth is, it doesn't really matter when He was born.

If you do the history of that, you'll find that to be true.

So I mean, if we were doing this in April, wouldn't it make a difference, would it?

I think the Lord protected us in not giving the exact time because people would worship the day and so forth, but we remember His birth every year.

The Bible talks extensively about His birth.

And so people do that this time of year, and we're thankful to be able to do that here as well.

So I just wanna have a word of prayer with you before we begin and ask the Lord's blessing to be with us.

Father, we're so thankful this morning that we can gather in this place and we can just open your word for the next few minutes and we just ask Lord that your Holy Spirit be with us.

We're thankful Father for how you lead your people and Lord every 1 of us has a story.

We're thankful Lord for Chad and April this morning, that you have brought them to yourself.

You brought them to this church and we're thankful to be welcoming them this morning into our church family.

We're thankful Lord that you are the God who is with us.

And we are so happy Lord, that we have such a hope as we have in you so Lord now as we open your word we pray your bless us in Jesus name amen in Galatians chapter 4 chapter 4 it says something very powerful.

Galatians chapter 4, if you have your Bibles, you can turn there.

Christ-centered Church, Holy Spirit-filled Church.

We believe that every Sabbath we come together, God meets with us.

Scripture says, For when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son.

Notice it says it was His Son He gave to us.

And we were thankful for that this morning.

His Son, it was not easy for Him to do that, but He loved us.

God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, under the law, to redeem those who are under the law that we might receive the adoptions as sons and I would add daughters and because you are sons God has sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts crying out Abba Father because of the birth of Christ he has done this thing amen and the term Emmanuel Matthew 123 says that there will be a child born unto Mary and His name will be called Immanuel, which translates God, What?

And it was to be a perpetual reminder for all time that God is indeed with us.

Christ, the Son of God, full of divinity, full of grace and truth, left the throne of heaven to come to this earth, the Bible says, in the fullness of what?

It means very simply this, if God had awaited any longer, it might have been too late.

You study Bible prophecy, you find that God is always on a time clock for every single thing that he does.

And the Bible says that Jesus came in the fullness of time, just at the right time when humanity and planet earth needed him the most, that's when he came.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is going to come a second time to this earth.

And He's not going to come as a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes.

He's not going to come as a humble servant.

And because He came the first time to give us opportunity to receive Him, that is what will prepare us for when He comes the second time.

I'm gonna run through 3 thoughts here about Jesus, about God with us.

And the first point is that Christ has fully identified in coming as a man, as leaving heaven's court and coming and becoming a man, humanity.

So just like, oh yeah, Jesus came and He became a man.

Think about the almost near infinite humiliation that Christ had to experience to lay down divinity and take up humanity.

The Bible says that man was made a little lower than the angels.

Man was made a little lower than the angels.

And Christ submitted himself to become that.

You know, in every other religion in the world.

And you have to offer sacrifices to the God or gods to appease their wrath, to earn their favor.

And Christianity is the only religion, I would say the true religion, that where God became the sacrifice.

He stepped down from where He was to meet us where we were, and not just to come down and meet us where we were, but to take us and bring us back to where He is.

And He does that by recreating in us His image in the new birth when we trust and believe in Him by faith.

How many of you are thankful today for the faith of Jesus?

I don't know what's happening here, but I'm thankful for that.

If you look in your Bibles to the book of Hebrews chapter 2.

Hebrews chapter 2, And you'll notice what it says here.

Hebrews 2.14 it says, Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, he himself likewise shared in the same, that through death he might destroy him who had power over death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

For indeed he does not give aid to angels, but he does give aid to the seed of Abraham." Who's the seed of Abraham?

According to Galatians chapter 5, it says, and if you are Christ, you're Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

You belong to Jesus, He bought you, He paid for you.

Then He says in verse 17, Therefore, in all things, He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest, and the things pertaining to God to make repudiation or sacrifice for the people or the sins of the people, for in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to aid those who are tempted." How many of you are thankful this morning that Jesus can identify with you?

How many of you are thankful this morning that he is identified with us by becoming like we were, flesh and blood in the person?

How many of you are thankful this morning that Jesus can identify with you?

How many of you are thankful this morning that He has identified with us by becoming like we were, flesh and blood in the person?

How many of you are thankful that Jesus went through everything that you and I go through so that He knows exactly how to help us.

How many of you think that Jesus actually, before He went through all those temptations, already knew how to help us?
