Thank you for coming, especially those of you who've already been to some of my seminars and you're back I guess I haven't scared you away yet So that's good Today I want to talk to you about a very difficult topic for a lot of Christians.

And you've probably heard the question asked, why do bad things happen to good people?

And you've probably heard other people attempt to answer that or maybe you've liked the answer to that, but I want to share a little bit about why I think bad things happen to good people.

You know, it's interesting, nobody ever asks why do bad things happen to bad people.

How come nobody says, why do bad things happen to bad people?

Or why do good things happen to good people?

But we always ask the question, why do bad things happen to good people?

Well, the Bible actually tells us why bad things happen to good people.

Spirit of Prophecy also tells us why bad things happen to good people.

But I wanna share with you a little bit about my story and a little bit about my testimony.

So I want to share with you a little bit about my story.

And I mentioned in the first seminar and a little bit in other seminars that I am a counselor or a therapist.

And in the state of California, we have to, by law, call ourselves, when we're licensed, licensed marriage and family therapists.

So I know some of you might ask or might wonder, well, do I only work with people who are married and people who are in families?

Well, I do work with those people, but technically I can work with anybody.

We're just made to call ourselves marriage and family therapists.

So I always say, if you're the product of a marriage or the product of a family, you can come see me.

And no, I'm not married, but I don't think that that keeps me from being able to give people good advice.

I'm the product of a marriage and the product of a family, so I've learned some things through that.

And the longer I've been a therapist, I've learned some things about marriage and families as well from that.

So, But the biggest thing that I've learned from is reading God's Word and Spirit of Prophecy as to how we can do that.

And I like to tell people, because I'm not married, I don't have any baggage to bring into the therapy session.

So I'm not gonna be biased 1 way or the other.

But I wanna share a little bit about my testimony, because we read a book called The Great Controversy.

Well, I've had some great controversies in my life.

And these 2 pictures right here, I couldn't get my old bosses to pose for a photo shoot with me.

So I had to go on Google Images and get samples of what I think they would look like.

But that's not my old boss on the left, and that's not my old boss on the right yelling at me.

In fact, the 1 on the left actually looks too nice to be my old boss.

Several years ago, my first job out of school was working in a private practice.

And I had a boss that was, let's just call her moody.

1 day she really liked me, and the next day she didn't.

The next day she liked me, and the next day she didn't.

And I could not understand why it was so hard to go to work every day.

But for a month and a half, that's how long the job lasted before I got fired.

I told many of you the other day that I've been fired 3 times.

So I can talk on persecution and pain if you were wondering.

And the first job after a month and a half I was fired.

And I actually wanted to leave so it was a blessing.

When you go back and forth each day, you want to leave after that.

But the biggest thing that happened to me was I realized in the midst of all of the back and forth every day, it being difficult.

It's not only difficult having a boss like that, but when you're supposed to be the stalwart 1, the stable 1 in all of the relationships you have with your clients, it's really hard when you start your day with hearing from your boss 1 thing, and then you have to go in and pretend like nothing's going on on the other side of the wall.

So that was really difficult, but when she decided to fire me, which was actually this time of year, I came back from Christmas vacation, and I had 5 clients I was going to be seeing that day.

And she says, I just can't work with you anymore.

So she told me, I like to refer to her as Laban.

She told me I was going to be making 50% of what I brought in.

And I had calculated that It wasn't going to be a lot, but it was my first job out of school.

And she came in after I turned in my hours for my first paycheck, and she said, why did you write this down, these numbers down?

And I said, well, this is what I thought I was making.

And she says, oh no, you're making half of that.

So not only was it 50% low for what I thought I could live off of, and I already had a place to live and everything, But then she said, no, you're making 50% of that.

This is what happens when you trust people to a certain degree.

And I went back and I thought, well, what choice do I have?

So I told her later, I came back the next day and I realized I can't live off of this.

So I told her, I said, well, if I get so many clients, would you negotiate building up the percentage over and over?

So when she fired me, she said, I felt like you took advantage of me.

You heard me the other day say what some of the gaslighting and projection and things were.

Well, the second boss on This picture represents the last job that I worked at.

Praise God, after all the many years of suffering in jobs, I loved my jobs, by the way, like the actual work.

It's the people you work with that are difficult.

And even I worked with criminals, and I liked the criminals that I worked with.

It was the other people that were difficult to work with, the adults that were supposed to be taking care of the criminals.

I don't know how that can be, but I was blessed by the criminals I worked with.

But my boss, this picture represents 1 of several men that I worked with.

And the main boss, He was very nice when I did my interview.

And then over the course of about 7 years, or no, I worked there for 7 years, so it was probably about 6 years, that I would send, not at the very beginning, but it started gradually picking up, that we had to do, we were in several different locations.

So I worked in the group home and he worked in the main office and then we had a team, a treatment team that worked together.

And because we were in different locations, what we had to do is we'd have to email what we were doing.

So all our communication went through email.

The rule at my work was if it's not in an email, it didn't happen.

So if it wasn't in an email, it didn't happen.

So I would email different things that I was doing.

My boss would say things like, why did you say that?
