The Dwelling Place of Divinity

Our Father and our God, we thank you for the gift of life.

We thank you, Father, that we can assemble in your presence again at the end of this blessed 10-day service or series of services to listen to your Word, To be instructed by the truth, to receive it in obedience, dear God, that it may do its work of sanctification in our lives.

I have the heaviest responsibility, Father, of presenting Your Word.

I ask in the name of Jesus, forgive my sins, dear God.

Cleanse me from all that is unlike you, Father.

Remove the stains, make me a fit instrument.

Take all the glory, give us the blessing, I pray.

In Jesus' name, let God's people say, amen and amen.

Our subject, the dwelling place of divinity.

Genesis chapter 2, reading from verse 10.

Genesis 2, reading from verse 10, the dwelling place of divinity.

The Bible says, and A river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from thence it was parted and became into 4 heads.

That is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold, And the gold of that land is good.

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden.

And from thence it was parted and became into 4 heads.

That is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, Where there is gold, and the gold of that land is good, there is delium and the onyx stone.

We have to assume There were other precious stones in the days when God first made this earth.

As a matter of fact, if you read Patriarchs and Prophets, Eloy tells us the precious stones were lying on the surface of the earth.

They were covered when God sent the flood.

But gold was on the surface, precious stones on the surface, diamonds on the surface, the onyx stone on the surface, the agate, the chalcedony, the carnelian, the bloodstone, they were on the surface of the earth.

Keep those in mind and listen to Genesis chapter 2.

Verse 7, And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

When God made Adam from dirt, God had other materials available to him.

God had other materials available to him when he chose to make mankind out of dirt.

He could have made it from a diamond or gold or silver or iron.

I know of no economy that is based on dirt.

I should say I know currencies that are based on gold.

And the gold is kept in the most secure building on the face of the earth.

It is guarded by so many soldiers that they could function as armies for entire countries.

All the gold reserves of the United States, they are more protected than the White House.

It has a history of attracting men and women.

They gave their lives for gold, and diamonds, and silver, and other precious stones and gems, all of which were available to God when He decided to make Adam and Eve.

And yet God did not choose gold, or diamond, or silver, or onyx, or delium, or chalcedony, or agate, or carnelian.

And God said, let us make man in our image.

When the Bible says, "'Let us make man in our image after our likeness, ' God chose, as I said, dirt, and in dirt, He placed divinity, in the sense that he placed his character in someone made from dirt.

Now you may say, well, preacher, when Adam was made, he was no longer dirt.

Listen to what God says to Adam in Genesis chapter 3.

Genesis 3, verse 17, and unto Adam he said, because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and has eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it, cursed is the ground for thy sake.

In sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.

Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth unto thee and thou shall eat the herb of the field.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground, for out of it was thou taken, for dust thou art." God looked at a living man and he called him dirt.

So when God made Adam of dirt, when Adam took on this refined form as a human being, in the eyes of God, He was still dirt.

And God said to Adam, "'Thus thou art, and unto thus shalt thou return.'" God called a living man dirt.

My brothers and sisters, why would God choose dirt?

When Jesus came down to this earth to become 1 of us.

He could have come as a king, an earthly king.

He could have come as an ambassador to some powerful country.

He could have come with rank and position and titles so that people would bow.

Jesus, the Bible says, made himself of no reputation, took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men in a place where most men are not born.

He was born surrounded by cow dung in a manger, the King of the universe.

He came that low so that he might lift those who were that low up as high as He could possibly lift a created being." Let me say that again.

Let me make the words now apply to God making Adam.

God made Adam out of dirt, but God's intention was to elevate that dirt right into the Godhead.

Listen to Conflict and Courage, page 21, paragraph 5.

God created man for his own glory, that after test and trial, the human family might become 1 with the heavenly family.

It was God's purpose to repopulate heaven with the human family, if they would show themselves obedient to his every word.

It was God's intention to elevate man made out of dirt right into the Godhead.

Not to make him God, but to bring him right into the most intimate fellowship with the Godhead.

As a matter of fact, when God made the angels, He did not make them from dirt.

I don't know if nothing is higher than dirt.

But the Bible says in Psalm 148, verses 1, 2, and 5, Praise ye the Lord.
