We Are All Alike

Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, Jesus is coming again.

Cheer up you pilgrims, be joyful and sing, Jesus is coming again.

This is the voice of prophecy, a voice crying in the wilderness of these modern days, Prepare ye the way of the Lord.

Coming again, coming again, Jesus is coming again.

When all my labors and trials are over, And I am safe on that beautiful shore, Just to be near the dear Lord I adore, will through the ages be glory for me.

Our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee today for Thy Word.

We pray that this broadcast may help to make it clear to others everywhere.

Is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God.

A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blessed Redeemer, sent from the heart of God, Hold us who bow before Thee, near to the heart of God.

We would see Jesus We would see Jesus for the shadows lengthen across the little landscape of our life.

We would see Jesus, our weak faith to strengthen, for the last conflict in this mortal strife.

We would see Jesus, rock of our salvation, Rock of our salvation, where on our feet we're set with sovereign grace.

Not life nor death, with all their agitation, Can thence remove us, gazing on his face?

The King's Heralds have a hymn for us now, a hymn of consecration, Take My Life and Let It Be Consecrated Lord to Thee.

Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

Take my hands and let them move At the impulse of thy love, At the impulse of thy love.

Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold, not a mite would I withhold.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour at Thy feet its treasure store.

Take myself and I will be Ever only all for thee, Ever only all for thee.

In all God's creation there are no 2 things exactly alike.

No 2 blades of grass, no 2 leaves among all the billions in the world, no 2 grains of sand, no 2 raindrops, no 2 snowflakes, no—nothing is exactly like something else.

They may seem alike, but they are not exactly alike.

While this is all true, yet in general, we are all alike.

For God Himself, speaking of men, all men, declares that there is no difference.

If there is no difference, then we are all alike, no matter who we are.

Regardless of our race, our color, our position, our education, our culture, we are all alike in several important things.

The Bible says, Have we not all 1 Father?

And again, Know ye that the Lord, he is God.

It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves.

We may not know all the individuals by name, but every family can trace its origin back to Adam, we are all related there.

The Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

And of Eve, it is written, she was the Mother of all Living.

Not only do we all come from the Creative Hand of God, but all men are made of the same substance.

Here is the proof in Psalm 103, verse 14, "'For he knoweth our frame, he rememb'reth that we are dust.'" In His mercy, God never forgets.

Here is the statement of Acts 1726, And hath made of 1 blood all nations, for to dwell on all the face of the earth.

Not only are we made alike physically, but the Bible says, God fashioneth their hearts or their minds alike.

In other words, in our thinking, We are all human.

We all have our problems, our desires, our hopes, our loves, our sorrows, our tears, our joys, and our anticipations.

It is through God's constant care that we live, for in Him we live and move and have our being.

Well, this puts things in a different light with some people, doesn't it?

They may have a different culture, different color, different view of things.

They may be the exact opposite of us in many of their ways and ideas, and yet we are all alike in our origin, all alike in our dependence upon God for the very breath we breathe, for every heartbeat, for the sustenance of our bodies, in our attitude toward others, how far from Scripture we sometimes are in these things.

He's interested in people, not merely in things.

He's interested, yes, in individuals, in you and in me.

You have heard of Blaise Pascal, a figure of romantic greatness in the past days of France, 1 of the outstanding intellects of all time, and only a boy of 11, he prepared a treatise on sound.

At 16, his mathematical genius was evidenced in a paper on conic sections.

As a young man, he was fascinated with physics and discovered the law of fluid pressure, still known as Pascal's Law.

He will always have a place among the leading scientists and thinkers of the earth, But he was a philosopher and religious thinker, too, as well as a scientist.

He once wrote his answer to this question on a little slip of paper and sewed it in his doublet to be worn next to his heart.

He said it was this, and, quoting now, God is not the God of philosophy, but He is the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob and of Jesus." So you see, we are all alike, created by the hand of God, the God of men, the God who created men, who loves men, the God who came in human form in Jesus, who took humanity upon Himself.

But there is another thing in which we are all alike.

We have all alike been infected with the soul disease called sin.

The Bible says, there is no difference, for all has sinned.

All has sinned and come short of the Glory of God.

Or, as the Prophet Isaiah put it, a way over in the Old Testament, Isaiah 53, 6, all we like sheep have gone astray.

We have turned every 1 to his own way, and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
