Give Me This Mountain- Part 1

Father in Heaven, I offer myself to you as an instrument.

Give me the words to speak, dear God, that these men whom you love, whom you desire to save, whom you desire to use as instruments of salvation, that they may be blessed by the words you give to me.

Thank you for the knowledge of the truth.

Bless every seminar, I pray, in Jesus' name, Amen.

This morning's seminar revolves around the law, so will the next 1.

And I've given it the title, The Long Arm of the Law.

It's the second book of the Bible, and by the way when I read, I read from the King James Version of the Bible, whatever version you have is fine, but if I ask you to read with me, only read if you have the King James Version, so we don't have the Tower of Babel in this place.

And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountains, saying, Thus shall thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel, ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bear you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, what's the next word?

If ye will obey my voice indeed and keep my covenant, then ye shall be what?

A peculiar treasure unto me above all people, for all the earth is mine.

Now God has favorites, by the way, and Those that are closest to God are those who keep the commandments.

But God said, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasurant to me.

Obedience was the condition, you see when God called the Israelites out of Egypt, they were not a nation, they were just descendants of Abraham.

They were not a nation, they were just descendants of Abraham and because they were Abraham's descendants, they were God's special people, but not a nation.

Elowite writes, God called them to incorporate them as a church and a nation under the government of God.

Alright, so God is saying if you obey me you'll be a special nation above everybody else.

Then we know God came down in verse 16 chapter 19 and in 20 he speaks the 10 Commandments.

Let us take a look at the manifestations that came with the descent of the law.

Let's read verse 16 of Exodus 19, And it came to pass on the third day in the morning that there were what?

Thunderings and lightnings and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud, so that all the people that were in the camp trembled.

And Mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in what?

And the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace.

Let's see what were the manifestations as we talk about the long arm of the law.

Verse 16, And it came to pass on the third day in the morning that there was what?

What is, well give me another word when a mountain trembles.

So here they are, thunders, lightnings, cloud, loud noise, earthquake.

All of these were associated with the coming of the law of God.

Now keep in mind, Verse 4 again, let's go to verse 4 and let's read microscopically.

Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians.

Now every plague was a manifestation of what?

So God is telling them you saw manifestations of my power.

They didn't tell Moses, you speak to him.

Now what were they seeing now that they hadn't seen before?

They were seeing the holiness of God as represented in His Holy Law, the coming of the Law of God.

When God appeared in the burning bush, was there thunderings and lightnings?

Was God's presence with them in the Shekinah?

But now that God is bringing down his holy law, the thunderings, lightnings, noise, and their earthquake.

Let's leave Exodus and run all the way to Revelation.

We skip hundreds of years because we only have about 4 to 5 minutes.

And I'm trying to stress what should be 1 of the central features of our preaching which is the law of God along with the faith of course of Jesus Christ.
