We studied the altar of incense earlier this week.

We're gonna move beyond that altar of incense.

As we encounter the veil, the curtain that separates the holy place from the most sacred, the most holy place, the record tells us that it's a gorgeous covering in between.

It's beautiful colors, blue, purple, scarlet, and with angels throughout, woven in gold and silver.

When we enter the next room, we are before the, does anybody know what's in there?

The Ark of the Covenant, the 1 piece of furniture in the Most Holy Place.

The Ark of the Covenant was about 3 and a half feet long, 2 and a half feet wide, and about 2 and a half feet tall.

And like other furnishings, it was designed for transportation as well.

Acacia wood, and had gold both outside and actually inside on this 1.

And their position is described in Ezekiel 1.11, if you wanna write that down on your notes page.

We find that the 2 angels had 2 of their wings, they had 4, Did you guys know they had 4 wings?

2 of them were up, touching, and 2 were down, covering their bodies.

Ezekiel 10, 21 teaches us that cherubim have 4 wings.

They faced each other, looking down upon the contents of the ark, the law, and their position was 1 of reverence." It conveys an attitude of the angelic host not only regarding God's throne, but also concerning God's law.

It shows that the angelic host had reverence for God's plan of salvation to humanity.

Why would God put something that so many people believe Christ has done away with inside the ark that represents his throne.

You see, in between those angels was an area known as the, anybody?

It was here in the mercy seat that had the visible presence of God when it was in the sanctuary.

God also placed his law under the mercy seat.

Many times when the priest or Moses would communicate with God, they would stand on 1 side of the curtain and God would speak to them.

This place is full of reverence and holiness.

Later on, as years passed, they would add into the ark what?

So manna was a reminder to the children of Israel that God would provide their needs.

Manna also shows that God asks us to work for 6 days and rest on a seventh.

If they collected every day, they collected too much on Friday, they collected extra on Friday.

If they did it any other day, it would rot.

But on Friday, God would sustain the manna for an extra day.

Aaron's rod was later added and if you remember it was the result of rebellion that broke out in Israel.

When a number stood opposed to the priests that God had selected, the men God had chosen to be priests in Israel, they defied God's authority.

Each tribe took their rod and placed it before the ark.

Not only did Aaron's rod bud, but it produced almonds.

The rod was placed in there to remind to Israel not to rebel against the authority of God.

The rod points us today to His authority, that God knows what is best.

Even if we think our way of worship might be better, we trust God's way.

And that today is gonna be our study on the transcript of God's love, his law.

You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I will give you." You see, the 10 Commandments were clearly inside the ark.

And he wrote on the tablets according to the first writings, the 10 Commandments, which the Lord had spoken to you in the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of assembly, and the Lord gave them to me.

Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and I put the tablets in the ark which I had made, and there they are, just as the Lord commanded me." I think this sends a huge message.

As we mentioned earlier, as we have already mentioned, in fact, that they were located at the foundation of the throne of God.

So basically, God is saying His kingdom is built on this law.

That area was symbolic of the sanctuary in heaven where the throne of God is, where his presence is, and where the angels reside.

The Ark of the Covenant held the tables of law, the tablets of the law, reminding us that God's law is the foundation of His throne.

By the way, that ark, that covenant, was an agreement between God and Israel that made them his children and made God their God.

So let's open our Bibles real quick to Exodus chapter 31.

And I want to further elaborate just a little bit because it's so crucial to us.

Exodus 31, can I have an amen when you get there?

And when he had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, he gave Moses 2 tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, key here, written with the finger of God.

Now the tablets were the work of God and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.

It blows my mind when you stop to think about it.

But when you look at the whole Bible, there are only 2 instances where the Bible records directly what God wrote Himself.

There's 3 times we know God wrote, 2 times where it's written in the Bible.

The 1 of them is the 10 Commandments, amen.

Those are not the 1 — those are the ones that aren't recorded.

Do you remember, if I can pretend here, my whole arm is gone and it starts going on the wall, remember?

These are the only recorded words of God's handwriting in mass.

I think the commandments are so important.

He wanted to make sure you knew he wrote them.

Doesn't that blow your mind a little bit?

God wanted to make sure no 1 in the future would say, oh, maybe Moses wrote that.

I want you to imagine right now that if you had a son or daughter serving as a missionary in a third world country.

It's a country that you had visited often, you knew pretty well, and all of a sudden you learn that the government has overturned, and the mobs are going out across the country, killing foreigners.

Your child's life is in danger, and You have to get your child out there.

You go to your secretary and say, I want you to take notes and write this letter.
