Weep Like Jesus

Thank you, Rodney, for that lovely music, even though you weren't supposed to play, I guess.

It's nice to see many familiar faces, and it's even nicer to see many new faces every time I come to Aventope.

I tell you it's just Enlarging and growing it's a good.

It's a good thing very good thing and for those of you who know me you may notice that I Sound nasal I've been away for a few months and I guess my body has not been used to the smog anymore.

But That just means I need to come back here more often, right?

But I believe the Lord can still bless despite a plugged up messenger.

Today our message is going to be a challenging 1.

When I present it, I get the feeling in my heart that I am not qualified.

I am not adequate to share this message because I have not reached the point which we need to reach.

I haven't gotten to the place that we are learning about through this Bible study.

And so before we get into the word I really would ask you to pray for me and to pray for your hearts that the Lord will be able to plant within your hearts those seeds that can make a difference in these last days.

So let's bow our heads together as we pray.

Our Father in heaven, this morning as we discuss this challenging topic of what it means to live in the last days, I ask that you would give me clarity of thought and speech.

Most importantly, may your spirit preach this message in spite of an ineffective, insufficient servant.

Lord I pray for each heart that is in this room.

May they hear the message that they need to hear.

May they be changed accordingly by your spirit.

We love you dear Lord and we pray all these things in Jesus name.

Turn your Bibles with me to Revelation chapter 6.

Revelation chapter 6 we're going to read about the sixth seal found beginning in verse 12.

The Bible says, And I beheld, when he had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake.

And the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.

And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains and said to the mountains and rocks fall on us and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

Do you see a description in this sixth seal of what the world will be like when Jesus is coming back?

Great earthquake, the stars are falling like figs off a tree that's shaken of a mighty wind.

We see the heavens departing as a scroll.

And every man, every type of people running to the mountains, crying for them, fall on us, hide us from the face of Jesus.

These obviously describing those who are going to be lost.

And as you look at the chaos and the utter destruction and carnage happening, you ask the question, what about those who are saved can anyone stand in this day and verse 17 Asks that very question that's on our mind verse 17 for the great day of his wrath has come and who?

Shall be able to stand When Jesus comes back there's going to be 2 groups of people.

There will be the group of people that runs the hills and the mountains crying for the rocks to fall on them and hide them from the face of Jesus, and then there will be those who will be able to stand.

But the Bible asks the question, who are these people?

Who are these people that are able to stand to see Jesus coming without entering the grave?

And don't you think this is a very important question for us to answer?

If we are to stand in that day, we better have an answer to this question, so that we ourselves can be part of that group.

In the Bible, the Bible originally was written without chapter or verse numbers.

So the very next verses, which is actually chapter 7 in our Bible, used to be connected directly with the end of chapter 16.

So let's look at the very next few verses to see what the Bible says.

And after these things I saw 4 angels holding the 4 corners of the earth, holding the 4 winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God.

And he cried with a loud voice to the 4 angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads and I heard the number of them which were sealed and there were sealed a hundred and 40 and 4000 of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

The very next few verses John the Revelator explains.

Those who are sealed and those who are sealed are also known as the hundred and forty-four thousand.

So the 144, 000 simply denote a group of people that will be standing alive when Jesus comes.

The 144, 000 do not represent the people that will be saved.

They are not just the people that are saved.

In other words, there is a great multitude which no man can number that will be saved but those who are Translated without seeing death when Jesus comes based on Revelation chapter 6 and 7 is the hundred and 44000 So what does it mean for us to be a part of the hundred and 4 4000?

What does it mean for us to be able to stand in that day?

The Bible clearly says we must receive something in our foreheads something called a seal something called a mark something that God places in our foreheads that identify us as the people who can stand and who can withstand the destruction that comes at the end of time.

So my question now, obviously is, what does it mean to have the seal of God?

Now I know there are many Bible scholars, you don't even need to be a Bible scholar to have heard many different interpretations of the seal of God.

That is, that the seal of God is a three-dimensional subject.

I say this in the meaning that there are many perspectives to look at this topic.

Yes, I understand that they have, there are certain established interpretations of the seal of God, but today I want to take you to a different aspect, a different perspective of this same topic.

I still believe in the traditional Adventist understanding of the seal of God, but I just want to add to that, and I believe it is cohesive and it is compatible.

To discover what it means to receive the seal of God.

I invite you to look with me in the Old Testament book of Ezekiel Chapter 9 As you're looking for Ezekiel chapter 9, let me give you a brief background.

Ezekiel, prophet of the Lord, in chapter 8, he was taken by a lock of his hair.

Obviously, he had long enough hair, not like mine, to be picked up by.

And he was whisked around Jerusalem and he was shown all sorts of idolatrous acts and all sorts of apostasy that was taking place in Jerusalem.

He was taken to the temple and he saw people worshipping idols.

And even to the extent, he saw elders standing in between the porch and the altar in the sanctuary with their back to the most holy place, facing the east and worshipping the sun.

And Ezekiel was seeing all of these things transpire and then chapter 9 is where we pick up the story chapter 9 verse 1 he cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.

And behold, 6 men came from the way of the higher gate, which lies toward the north, And every man a slaughter weapon in his hand.

And 1 man among them was clothed with linen and a rider's inkhorn by his side.

And they went in and stood beside the brazen altar.

And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the chair of whereupon he was to the threshold of the house.

And he called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer's inkworn by his side.

And the Lord said unto him, go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

Verse 5, And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city and smite, let not your eyes spare, neither have ye pity." Simply put, this is a description, it is a type of what will take place at the end of time when the seal of God is being issued.

In the Old Testament, God declares, go through the city of Jerusalem, put a mark on each person's forehead, who do what?

But then for the rest of them, destruction is their lot.

Isn't that the same scenario at the end of time?

Those who receive the seal of God, they will not be destroyed, but the rest who do not have the seal of God, or those who receive the mark of the beast, they will receive the warning given in the third angel's message.

So we're talking about the same thing here.

Now, we're not going to go through an in-depth prophetic study of Ezekiel 8 and 9, but I just want to focus on the characteristic of the people who receive this mark, or this seal in their foreheads.
