Our Father in Heaven, Lord, thank you so much for this Sabbath day.

Thank you so much for health and for strength.

Thank you for the privilege it is to gather together here and to worship together out of freedom.

And Lord, I just thank you for the opportunity that we have to open your word.

I thank you what you will do in advance already, that you will speak to us through your word.

But I pray now that you would do the impossible and that you would qualify me to speak for you.

And Lord, that you would hide me behind your cross, that the words and the thoughts that I have would not be my own, but that they would be from you.

And Lord, speak to each heart here today and speak to the issues of the heart.

It's my prayer this morning in Christ's name, amen.

This morning, it's gonna be spending some time in Romans chapter 8.

And pretty much the whole time, we're gonna be spending in Romans chapter 8.

Kind of just to kind of give you like a vision of kind of where we're going, a lay of the land.

Romans chapter 8 has a lot of stuff in it.

So I'm not going to even probably come close to covering everything.

So I'm going to be talking about a lot of things, but just keep in mind it's going to boil down to a few simple points.

And I will make it very clear as we go forward.

And those are the points I want you to hang on to.

But I really want to challenge and encourage you to, don't take my word for it, but I want you to study for yourself.

Spend time with God and his word, in Romans 8 specifically.

So Romans chapter 8 starts out, and we're going to be talking about the Christian walk.

It's probably going to be stuff that is probably not too foreign to you guys.

Then I always like to talk about practical.

So then the next part of Romans, it kind of transitions beautifully into this.

The next part is why this is all important.

You know, something to take home, something, a challenge.

And so I don't know if Paul intends this in Romans 8, but I'm going to appeal to you with the last portion of Romans 8 and that will be my message.

So just to give you a little bit of a context again In in Romans chapter 7 Paul is writing and he's going through this struggle it looks like.

He's like the things that I want to do I don't do and the things that I don't want to do I do.

And it's you kind of get this idea that like this is just this is kind of what I'm going through this is my thoughts as I'm studying Romans 7.

And then you get to Romans 8, the first verse.

And this is such a beautiful promise for Romans chapter 7, and it's like it's kind of like this fulcrum into into Romans chapter 8.

And it's just a beautiful promises to keep in your mind as you move forward through chapter 8.

So it reads, verse 1 of chapter 8 of Romans.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Verse 2, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

I wanna pause real quick there and just say a brief note on this idea of freedom.

I could probably give, and I have given, a whole sermon on on the topic of freedom and it's it's beautiful.

The freedom that God wants to give us, not just outward freedom, but freedom from the lies and the deceptions of the devil, and freedom from sin, victory over sin.

But just this brief note on the topic of freedom.

I want to challenge each 1 of you to consider the idea of God that you have in your mind.

And I want to challenge you that if that character that you have of God or that idea that you have of God doesn't just drive you to him, like any rational person doesn't just drive you to him out of adoration and love and that you can't just embrace that naturally.

I wanna suggest to you that you may have the wrong idea, the wrong version, the wrong picture of God's character.

I believe that God's character alone draws us to him.

Unless Christ is lying, when he says in John, unless I be lifted up I would draw all man unto myself.

And this idea, and John puts forth, that God is love.

And the principle of love that I think you can boil all of this down to is selflessness.

So under this bigger umbrella of love and selflessness is this concept of freedom that he wants to give us.

So I want to go back just in your minds to Genesis chapter 1 or Genesis chapter 2 roughly.

And in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth and he goes through the whole creation week and then he gets to day 6 in the creation week.

So now this is just, this is, every, excuse me.

Everything except the knowledge of good and evil, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

My mind goes kind of fast and my words don't keep up.

So he told them that they could eat of everything except 1 tree, correct?

So, how many trees do you think there were in the garden?

I don't know how many trees there were, but there was a lot of trees.

How many trees could they not eat of again?

Okay, so we have 4, 000 trees that they can eat of and 1 tree that they can't.

Does that look like a God who is restrictive?

He gives freedom to choose whatever tree and then he gives freedom to choose even if they don't want to eat of the trees that God told them that they could eat of.

Now you go into Genesis chapter 3 and Eve is at the tree of knowledge of good and evil by herself.

And 1 of the first things that the serpent tells Eve is what?

Did God really say you can't eat of every tree?
