Morning Devotional

Somebody's got to be a brave 1, don't they?

Open the door and see if the bear is going to come inside.

How many of you really want to be here this weekend?

I remember when I was your age, you wouldn't want to have known me back then.

I would not have been a good friend to have.

Spiritual things were the furthest thing from my mind.

I just wanted to have a good time, live a life, make a lot of money.

And I thought, just right that split second before the Lord comes, I'll give my heart to Him and I'll be saved.

I mean, I was raised a Seventh-day Adventist.

I went through Daniel and Revelation class.

I was a senior, I was a pastor of my senior class in grade school and you know all the whole business.

And I mean I knew that the Sunday Law was going to come and right before the Sunday Law came that we could give our hearts to the Lord and we could be like the world and still be saved.

Because by the time the Sunday Law comes, Adventist probation is closed already.

You can read it in Volume 7 of the Testimonies.

Roland White says, At the time when the door of mercy is still open to 1 class, God's probation has closed for another.

And it also says in Romans Chapter 2, it says that salvation comes first to the Jew and then to the Greek.

You see, Satan has got us all schnookered in thinking that we can live the good life and be as much like the world as possible and have a good time in the world, which is not a good time at all.

But you see, Satan comes into our young minds that are just full of life and full of desire and full of anticipation and we want to do great things and we want to live for a cause and Satan holds out the glamour of the world and says, look you can have all this.

And he makes it look so glamorous and so beautiful but he doesn't show you the syphilis, he doesn't show you the VD, he doesn't show you all the brokenness and all the hurt and all the sorrow and all the crying and all the pain, and you say, man, I'd go for that.

And for every Adventist like me that comes back from that, there's a thousand that don't come back.

I can name you friends that I went to school with at Tacoma Academy in Tacoma Park, fathers in the General Conference, fathers in the Columbia Union, working hard for the Lord who are lost men today, potheads, worthless.

And I went to these guys and said, gosh, you've got to come back to the Lord.

You see, the Lord wants us to take bold moves for Him.

The Lord is looking for a few good men and women.

I heard a story of 4 recruiters standing up in a gymnasium in a high school, public high school.

And as fate would have it, every, The Army man took 20 minutes.

Now how much time does that leave for the Marine?

The principal said, I'm really sorry, but time ran out.

The Marines stood up and he said, Only 2% of you in this room are good enough for the Marines.

If you think you're in that 2%, come see me." And he sat down.

Because you see, Young people want to do something great for God.

But Satan has come in with a message of impossibility thinking to many of us.

Many of us live in the land of impossibility thinking.

We look at a task before us and we think, no, that can never be done.

Well, I want to show you in the Bible today the name of my message is impossible.

I want to turn you to Matthew 19 and verse 26.

And I want to show you what Jesus said when He was here upon this earth.

Jesus says, the rich young ruler had come to Him and He said, Lord, what must I do to be saved?

Go sell all you have and give to the poor.

Verse 22, the young man heard that saying.

He went away sorrowful for he had great possessions.

Then Jesus said unto His disciples, Verily I say unto you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven." Now you've got to understand, to the Jews, The richer you were, the more sure your salvation was.

The disciples are standing with their mouths open.

They can't believe that Jesus has just broken the tradition that they were raised with.

That the richer you were, what did it mean?

Lord, if the rich people can't be saved, what about us poor peasant fishermen?

Jesus beheld them, verse 26, and said unto them, with men this is what?

Now did Jesus put any qualifiers on that statement?

Did He say if you have enough faith, all things are possible?

SWYC 2005: Testimonies

Well, some of you guys were here for the evening meeting Saturday night, Sabbath night, when Pastor Gates was really challenging us, we need to give all for God because he's coming soon.

And I had asked him the question, well, what do you do with fear?

And I was really struggling with it all through his sermon, because I've always wanted the end times to come, but I didn't want to live through them.

I was praying that maybe I would die or die in a plane crash or something anyhow.

So after his meeting, I went up and talked to him and he prayed with me and I just, I went back to my room that night and my husband wasn't there.

And I thought, okay, I'm going to put this to the test.

And I turned off all the lights, because I usually sleep with the light on when my husband isn't there.

I turned off all the lights, shut all the curtains, and I prayed.

And I said, God, if I'm going to survive through the time of trouble, I've got to be able to sleep in my own room with the lights out.

I've never had this happen before, but I went to sleep right away, and I woke up and there were hymns going through my head.

And God woke me up really early that morning, and I was able to spend time praying with Him.

And I think probably the thing that I took away most from this weekend is we don't have to be scared of the end times.

And right now is the opportunity to be preparing our hearts, our lives.

And even if it's just something simple like me being scared of the dark or You being scared to witness or something.

We don't have to we can give that fear to God He will take it away and we will be the generation that finishes the work Good morning.

I came from the Valley of Death, San Bernardino.

At first, I wasn't going to go to this meeting, because I recently got into an accident, and it was my fault.

A lot of money just emptied my bank account.

I came to a Bible study that we go on Sunday.

And a brother came to me, and I'm really glad he did.

I was like, you know brother, I would if I had the money.

And he was like, you know what, here's $40.

I was like, you know, no 1 really gives me $40.

So I was like, wow, brother really wants me to come.

You got to consider I'm a student, I'm really poor.

But because he really wants me to come I was like you know what I will I'll come up with it I started praying with the Lord I was like Lord I need money and your word I've said that silver and gold are yours so if you want me to come provide me with the money so a week later an old lady who is my mom's former employer, she needed help to move.

I was like, no, it's alright, We're big guys, we'll help you out." At the end of the day, we're about to go home.

She was like, oh, you're about to go home, yeah.

I was like, oh man, this is very unnecessary.

So she wrote down, I was expecting $20 for 4 of us, right, you know, just to buy gas.

But when I looked at it, I was like, wow, she wrote down $150 for 4 of us for a four-hour, you know, moving.

So we shared it to our friends, like, guys, we're going to Southwest Youth Conference.

But it was still, there's still some money missing.

So, and then my, when I got home, my dad asked me, see he does housekeeping and he was kind of tired that day.

He's like, hey can you do this job for me?

Just 15 minutes, clean the bathroom." I said, alright.

You're my dad, I love you, I'll help you out.

I was singing scripture songs, I'm going to Southhead Youth Conference, but I'm still missing some cash.

He was like, he ripped it out, and I was like, here's for you.

The challenges, you know, see, I have a problem with spiritual cowardness, that I'm not willing to, you know, take that giant leap for the Lord.

But after all the testimonies from David Gates, his experiences, I was like, wow!

There's a guardian angel, you know, maybe like 6 times or 7 times bigger than me that's always guarding my ways.

And when I had the accident, I believe he was there because I hit a truck head on, my car was wrecked and there was not a single scratch.

The windshield broke and the paramedic came and was like, what?

I was like, what do you mean I'm still alive?

So, and then this weekend, praise the Lord that I was able to, by the grace of God, I was able to give up 1 thing that really got in the way of my relationship with the Lord.

And I thank you so much that the Holy Spirit, It moved my heart and I'm ready to commit my life to the Lord again.

And The way he introduced himself is the way I would like all of the rest of you to.

And I believe that 3 years ago, God led me to Loma Linda, and I didn't know why at the point.

But I think that was a big part of it, to learn as much as I have and meet the friends that I have in this group.
