How to Study the Bible Deeper

There's different ways to interact with the Bible, but before we get into the Bible, I really want to encourage you all, if you're not already, start reading a lot.

It makes you a better person, a better Christian, and most of all, a better parent.

There are different ways to grow, and I thought this was cute, by mentorship, by penmanship, by scholarships.

If you hang out with the people that you want to be like, you will become like them.

So if you want to be happier, then hang out with happier people.

If you want to be successful, hang out with successful people.

It's just the natural law of society, that the people you hang out with and people that you're mentored by, you become like, my penmanship is what I'm in by this.

You want to record those things you want to remember.

Yesterday, Noah, my son, came to me and said, Dad, I really, he's 5 years old, I really appreciate when you take out time and spend time with me.

And I'm like, you know, that sounds like a Hallmark after school special thing that someone wrote, right?

And my wife doesn't speak English to him.

Maybe it's VBS, maybe they trained the kids to tell their parents, I don't know.

But I wrote it in here, because, oh, that's so awesome.

These are human life moments that you want to remember.

And so I wrote it and then things that my wife has said, good stuff, not the bad stuff.

And then I've encouraged her to do it, I encourage all my friends to do it, and I get into journals, man.

It's a standard A5 and it's nice colored paper with nice colored things.

There's cheaper versions, Moleskine, super cheap.

There's other like Walmart $5 ones, and you can go higher up to the Rodia's, but this is what I really recommend.

Our new young adult Bible study guide will be in this format.

And it will incorporate journaling into there.

And by penmanship, using your hand and writing it out.

I feel like our generation, we should capitalize on digital and analog together.

It's an abuse to think you have to replace 1 with the other.

And lastly, by scholarship to read, readers are leaders.

Seventh-day readers, my mentor told me this, hey these are the types of books you want to read.

She recommends reading 5 books and I added 2 more to make it 7.

That's what we're going to talk about in this seminar.

Always keep reading the spirit of prophecy.

Like if it was a Mongolian, okay you have an excuse not to read it.

You gotta read the translation, but it's in English.

Yeah, it's 19th century English, 19th century?

19th century English, but still, it's intelligible and you'll get a blessing, not a regular blessing, you get a supernatural blessing out of that.

So I really believe Spirit of Prophecy is a really good set of books, all of them, all billion of them.

You don't have to experience it yourself.

You can read about someone else's experience and learn from it.

And those biographies that you read are people that you will be like.

So I like reading books on leadership, presidential biographies, I read them all, corporate CEOs, I'm really big into leadership and teaching and theology.

You read 10 books on 1 topic, that's the equivalent to 1 college class.

And many of you believe in university education, and I do too, but a cheaper way is don't send your kids to the university, just give them 10 books on a topic, and it's the same thing, and you save $30, 000 a year in doing it, and they'll probably get more out of it than rather getting a diploma, and that's a very expensive piece of paper.

A specialist is by, you read 10 books on a topic, you can go to Amazon or even go online, and then by the seventh book, you will have become an expert on it.

By book 8, 9, and 10, your critical skills will now come in and be like, well, I read this before.

This is what this person said, and this person is wrong.

And then you can skip over and read through them quicker.

And you become known as the mm-mm-mm specialist.

So What topic do you want to be known as?

Do you want to be known as the Pinterest mom or the African drum dancing specialist or you know Skytrip, Comtrails and how they're poisonous and how there's a conspiracy that we never went to the moon.

Whatever you want to be known as, choose it and you can read 10 books on it.

I've never been to Iran, never want to go to Iran.

So then I was witnessing to this Korean lady and she had married an American, you know, a white dude who was working for the CIA, right?

And so I'm like, wow, you work for the CIA?

And he's like, oh, I was stationed in Iran.

I'm like, oh, You must have left Iran in 1979.

It's just long history, super boring, super...

I mean, the names are all in Pashto, Persian, I don't know anything.

But all I remember is that the Americans left Iran in 1979.

Okay, I'm sorry to say this, I was born in 1980, so 1979 was 1 year before that, so I'm like, oh, that's all I remember, 1970, 1970, 1979, 1979.

So then I was like, hey, you must have left in 1979.

He said, oh, I read it in a book, you know.

And he said this, he's like, young man, if you know that, I want to attend your evangelism series.

And he'd hold the whole prophecy and he's like, that's amazing that all the Daniel 7, all the 2, all the empires line up.
