A Gift the World Desperately Needs

Alright, so today the title is A Gift the World Desperately Needs.

My argument today is that When you look at the Adventist health message and the principles, the health principles therein, and we look at the diseases, at least the big diseases, the major killers of today, that the health message can be really really helpful and there's so many sick individuals who can really benefit from the message we have and the and at the end I just want to challenge all of us to go and share the wonderful health message that we have with other people So that's kind of where I'm going today Okay, so there's a lot of people out there who are who have type 2 diabetes obesity heart disease stroke Cancer and many of these things In fact, I would say the majority of these things, diseases can be addressed, at least prevented in many cases, and even in some cases, or in many cases, it can be actually reversed by following healthy lifestyle principles.

White, and I'm assuming that everyone here is a Sancti Adventist.

White and she is 1 of the co-founders of the Sancti Adventist Church.

And Sancti Adventists believe that she was chosen by God to be a special messenger to the world and especially to the church in these last days to prepare a world for Jesus soon coming.

Now when you look at the General Conference of Saint Anthony's Adventist, their official statement on Ellen White, This is what it says.

The scriptures testify that 1 of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy.

This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and we believe it was manifested in the ministry of Ellen G.

Her writings speak with prophetic authority and provide comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction to the church.

Theodosius have believed that God inspired Ellen G.

White, this woman on your screen, and she wrote down messages from the Lord to his people and they're supposed to help us.

They carry with it prophetic authority and this includes also her writings on health.

Now where did these these health principles come from?

Well her main vision on health came in 1863 in this house here.

Actually, it's kind of a big house, but in this house here in Otsego, Michigan.

White with other Advent believers were gathered in a prayer meeting.

In that prayer meeting, they were praying and Ellen White's husband, James White, was very sick.

Ellen White went over during the prayer and put her hand on her husband and started to pray for her husband.

As she was doing this she was carried off into vision where God spoke to her on various matters but including the broad principles of health which we now know as which we call the health message.

It was thereafter that Ellen White started to write rigorously on health.

The book Minish of Healing is her seminal book on health.

I want to encourage this book to everyone who has not read it and if you've read it before to reread it.

She also has other interesting books on health.

Some are compilations and others are direct, her actually writing the book from front to back.

An Appeal to Mothers is an excellent book if there's any young moms out there this is a really good book.

A Solemn Appeal also is a really interesting book on on sexual purity and stuff for young children and it's very interesting.

But she's written widely on health and when you read them it's a blessing.

Now it's very interesting to hear what others are saying about her writings and what science also has to say about the credibility of her statements on health.

Colin Campbell is a biochemist, epidemiologist.

In fact during his heyday, he's retired now, but during his heyday, the NIH gave him the most grant money to do research.

He's professor emeritus at Cornell University.

He's most famous for the China study where he did a massive epidemiological study in China where they basically determined that excess animal protein consumption can lead to various diseases including cancer and that through proper nutrition you can actually switch genes on and off.

In fact the New York Times called it the Grand Prix of epidemiology.

Now he was invited to speak at this guy's church.

So this is Don McIntosh from Weimar Institute.

You all know Weimar, right, in California.

Colin Campbell to speak at his church, but Before he came, he sent him an email with a bunch of quotations on health from Alan White.

Just kind of wondering what this professor would think about these writings.

Colin Campbell, he printed off the email, it was 16 pages long, and he wrote a response back to Don McIntosh.

Campbell describes Ellen White's writing.

He says the following, I'm not aware of anyone who is more on point than Ellen White.

Given her background, she is truly an amazing woman.

So remember, Ellen White had a 3rd grade education, but when you read her writings on health even this epidemiologist this accomplished epidemiologist was very impressed.

She continues I'm convinced that almost 100% of her statements are now substantially supported by the scientific evidence that has been developed during the past 2-3 decades.

What I've come to realize and even deeply worry about is why is it that this message of Ellen White and others have been so mislaid on shelves out of sight.

It is abundantly clear to me that now is the time to bring this forward in whatever way that each of us are able to do so." Wow I don't know what how you react but when I see something like this it's it's amazing and it's also a rebuke to us at 7th Avenue.

He's saying look her statements on health are just incredible but how come and he says he even used the word I'm deeply worried how come this stuff is just on shelves we should be sharing this with everyone I believe this is so true all right we have an amazing message to share with the world and there's so many suffering people out there who can really benefit from what we have to share with them.

Her writings are relevant, they're evidence-based, and most importantly the world needs it.

Our brothers and sisters, our neighbors, people out there really need the message we have to share with them.

As a doctor, I can testify that there are so many people out there who in many cases, not in all, but in many cases needlessly suffer from diseases that can be prevented and often reversed.

What are some of the things that Ellen White has recommended or written about and Are they backed up by scientific evidence?

So let's get really practical and I think that you'll find this very enlightening and also very useful.

First, Ellen White was, she was very clear that she recognized that poor lifestyle habits are the major issue of today.

Alright, so for example in her book Miniship Healing, and remember I'll say Ellen White but remember this is the Lord who inspired Ellen G White right so just keep that in mind.

So she says in the case of sickness the cause should be ascertained.

The greater number, however, suffer because of their wrong course of action.

They disregard the principles of health by their habits of drinking, of eating, drinking, dressing, and working.

So you can see here Ellen White is recognizing that many diseases are caused by poor lifestyle habits.

Something that the medical community is really only starting to appreciate in the last several decades.

So the World Health Organization predicted that by 2020, two-thirds of all diseases will be the result of lifestyle choices.

Now of course coronavirus kind of skews that a little bit but generally speaking this holds true that the majority of diseases we see today is caused by lifestyle choices.

This is from the New England Journal of Medicine and they compared the leading causes of death from the early 1900s so over a century ago versus now.

If you look here in the 1900s it's a lot of infections right so you know GI infections, tuberculosis, pneumonia and so forth.

You see diabetes doesn't even make the list, Alzheimer's doesn't even make the list right.

But then in over 100 years later, more closer to our time, it's heart disease, cancer, non-infectious airway diseases, cerebrovascular disease, so that's stroke, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and so on.

So really these infectious diseases have kind of moved over and made way for more lifestyle related diseases, okay?

So poor lifestyle choices are the leading cause of death.

Ellen White recognized that over 100 years ago.

Cancer is very interesting, it's very scary.

Well, I'm going to show you a map of the world.

And it's going to show you the incidence of different cancers.
