I thank God for the privilege of being with you here tonight for what we hope and believe by God's grace will be a blessed weekend, a weekend of revival.

I thank him for a safe flight from Detroit to Los Angeles.

I am told any flight that lands is a good flight and so it landed very softly and I'm grateful to God for that.

Thank you for taking the time to come here tonight.

We live in a very busy world and even the Christian cannot find time for his or her God.

But I am so grateful that many of you have come and I believe with all my heart that God will bless you tonight from his word, his word to your heart and that you will leave this place with a clearer understanding of who you are, why God gave you life today and what his mission for you is.

I bring you greetings from the Campus Ministries program in the Conference of Michigan, where we're trying our best to train young people to go out and take the gospel of a soon-coming Savior to a dying world.

Maybe I should say to dying people because many of those dying are in the church.

And so We need people to evangelize in and out of the church.

But we thank God for this opportunity and we shall make the most of it by the leading and the direction of his Holy Spirit.

Our Subject for this evening, called to bless.

And of course if there's a call, the call must come from someone outside of ourselves.

But before we pray, do 3 things for me, please.

Number 1, if you have a cell phone, and I know you have them, Please turn them off.

You will observe I did not say put them on vibrate.

We live in an age of electronic and technological advancement, and we use that advancement to disrespect God in his house.

Favor number 2, while I'm speaking I want you to pray for me.

What I want you to say is this, Lord put your words in that man's mouth.

The Bible says we have this treasure where?

Now in the process of preaching some dirt may come out on the message.

If you pray, the Lord will hear you and he will answer your prayer and he will put his words in my mouth and if God puts his words in my mouth, what you will hear will be the truth and your own mind will be protected so you say Lord put your words in that man's mouth when Peter stood up on the day of Pentecost to preach Acts chapter 2 verse 14 the Bible says, Then Peter standing with the 11, he alone spoke, but somehow it was a 12 person presentation.

The Bible says, Peter standing with the 11, And today I want to stand with the 11.

So you pray from time to time and you simply say, Lord put your words in that man's mouth.

Most people who go to church don't think.

If people who go to church would think, they would stop doing a lot of the things they do.

You know sometimes on Sundays I turn on the television and listen to these preachers so that I can know what to correct.

And I say to myself, Lord, if those people listening would think, reason, as God invites us to do, come now let us reason together.

If they would reason, they would pick up their Bibles, pick up their pocketbooks and whatever else and leave.

I'm asking you now in the name of Jesus, As you listen, think.

Our Father in heaven, we come into your presence at your invitation to come boldly to the throne of grace.

We come, dear God, to ask you to bless us with a revelation of your Word, a revelation of truth.

The Bible says the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, and according to the words of Jesus Christ in John 16, 13, how be it when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth.

Father, if it is the Spirit's work to guide us into truth, it is because we cannot guide ourselves into truth.

So please, grant us in abundance your Holy Spirit, And as He leads us into truth, Father, let us not fight that truth, but let us submit to His leading, because truth is life.

In Jesus' name I pray, let all God's people say, Amen and Amen.

It is now, well I have Michigan time, what time is it?

It's 730 and I'm supposed to exit this pulpit at what time?

All right and we're being filmed so I have to respect time and I generally do.

Why are you a Seventh-day Adventist and not a Baptist?

Why are you a seventh-day Adventist and not a Pentecostal?

Well if you're Pentecostal listening to me or a Baptist why are you a Pentecostal?

But for this particular event, this night, this weekend, because this is sponsored by a Seventh-day Adventist church, let me ask the question this way why are you a Seventh-day Adventist?

What do you understand by the word Seventh-day Adventist?

Let me knock you cold with a quotation from Ellen White early in this message.

Christ was a Seventh-day Adventist to all intents and purposes.

What she's simply saying that based on his lifestyle, based on his teachings, Jesus Christ fit the mold of what a historic Seventh-day Adventist should be.

We have some Seventh-day Adventists today that Ellen White would not recognize.

We have Adventists today that the pioneers would not recognize as Seventh-day Adventists.

And so I ask the question again, why are you a Seventh-day Adventist?

And hopefully during the course of this weekend, I will try to answer that question.
