Even Greater Than Angels

I am a piece of clay, created in his image by a pure, clean, and correct God.

Wow, thank you for that message and song.

To love a God, a God that has so many precious thoughts towards us, so many precious, precious thoughts towards us.

He's a God who is love, and he's a God who cares.

You know, as it is written, eye has not seen nor ear heard, nor has entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him.

But those things which are revealed, those things which can be found in the Word of God, Those things can be heard, they can be understood, they can be believed on, and they do fill us with living hope.

And this morning my message is entitled, Even Greater Than Angels.

Let's pray together as we open the word of God.

Our Father in heaven, we have gathered here Today, Lord, and our hearts are already overflowing with joy.

We sense your presence and our hearts are glad.

And today, Lord, as we open the word of God, we are now waiting for you to speak.

We expect for your Holy Spirit to give us a revelation of your character.

Open our eyes, Lord, to see you, to understand, and to know that we're loved, so loved.

So thank you, Lord, for answering this prayer in Jesus' name.

If only we could ask Jacob, Elijah, Ezekiel, Daniel, the shepherds, the apostles, John and others.

They would tell us that angels are bright.

They dart from place to place with lightning speed.

Their glorious appearance is like a bright fire as burning coal.

Their countenance can shine as bright as the sun.

The glory of 1 angel would knock down men when he appeared in their presence, a fiery, majestic presence.

In strength, yet we are destined to become greater than angels.

Scripture tells us that angels long to look into these things.

In other words, they are in awe of man and woman's potential.

They Look at the human race and they're mesmerized by their destiny.

No wonder David looked towards heaven And he cried out, what is man that you are mindful of him?

And the Son of Man that you have given him attention?

Have we come to grasp the thoughts of God towards us and the destiny that he has for us?

Let's begin to answer those questions by opening our Bibles.

So if you have your Bibles I'm gonna invite you to open them.

There's Bibles in the pew pocket if you need a Bible as well and we're gonna begin by going to the gospel or rather Job, to the book of Job.

And here in Job chapter 38 we find words spoken by God Himself.

In this particular passage, let me give you the context.

In this passage God reveals His omnipotence to Job and speaks of him of the time when the heavens and the earth were created.

And listen carefully to the words of God himself speaking out of the whirlwind.

He said in verse 4, where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?

Tell me if you have understanding, who determined its measurements?

Surely you know, or who stretched the line upon it?

Verse 7, when the morning star sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy.

Well First of all, whoever these intelligent beings are, they predate creation.

For they were already in existence, according to this passage, when God was just getting started creating the heavens and the earth.

He was laying the foundation, just getting started.

And we have these heavenly beings who are present and they sing praises and glory to God.

They're 2 categories of beings evidently.

We have the morning stars and then we have the sons of God.

Well in the first chapter of Job we have a mention of the sons of God.

So let us allow Job to expound on who the sons of God are who sang praises to their creator God.

In Job chapter 1, we find the reference there in verses 6 and 7.

It says that there was a day when the sons of God, sons of God, came to present themselves before the Lord, And Satan was also among them.

And the Lord said to Satan, from where do you come?

So Satan answered the Lord and said, from going to and fro on the earth and from walking back and forth on it.

Notice that this assembly is meeting in the Lord's presence.

Traveling has occurred evidently because it brings them together to meet before the Lord.

And those who are present, the text simply says they came.

They came from 1 location to this place in the presence of God.

They came from locations, evidently from where they live, and they're identified as sons of God.

Now, I'm going to guess that more than 1 of you is thinking, well aren't we all sons and daughters of God?

Well in the sense that you believe and those who believe become children of God.

But the title sons of God in this context is used here in a unique sense.

And the genealogy of Jesus helps us understand.

They helps us understand the use of the term Son of God.

If you look at the genealogy of Jesus, there's 1 found in the Gospel of Luke, for example.

There you find this listing, this listing of sons of, sons of.

In the Jesus family tree, it's identified as the son of a particular human father.

And so we have a long list of son of, son of, son of.

And it concludes with this line of descent, the very final verse of that genealogy passage.

The son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the Son of God.

So in the entire lineage, in all generations listed there, Adam alone had no human parents.

And so that's why he's called the Son of God in the sense that he was not born of any human beings.

He does not have a human father and mother.

Furthermore, in Hebrews chapter 1 verse 2 informs us that God made the worlds, and it's in plural.
