Jeffrey Dahmer and Jesus Christ

Today we're going to be talking about something very interesting, as you can tell by the title.

Probably some of you guys didn't know about the title, and it's probably a good thing, because you might not have shown up this morning.

So the name of the sermon today is called Jeffrey Dahmer and Jesus Christ.

I live and currently work in Central California, but it's always good to be here down in Southern California.

Orange County, it's always beautiful to be able to come home.

How many people here would say, by the raising of their hand, that you had an amazing week?

Just raise your hand if you're just like, yeah, it was an amazing week.

How many people would say you've had a rough week?

Okay, now how many people would say, I've had the worst week in my entire life.

Now how many people would say, then during this week, the bad news outweighed the good news this week.

I would say for me, it's been 1 of those weeks.

I've just had a lot of roadblocks and obstacles and challenges.

And it's just been 1 thing after another.

Even as I was driving here, I just told you guys got rear ended, but you know, the Lord is still good, amen?

In fact, I heard some really bad news just a couple of days ago.

I was with some friends and we were watching a news report and the news report said this That apparently in Europe there is a pod of killer whales that are apparently sinking ships have you heard of this before and Apparently they've been targeting various 30-foot, 50-foot boats and attacking the boats, ramming into the boats.

And I thought, no, not the killer whales, right?

In fact, what was so interesting, they said that it's probably due to a traumatized killer whale that was somehow traumatized by maybe being hit by a boat or whatever, and it's training the other killer whales to attack boats.

In fact, the news reporter said it like this, what we are potentially seeing here is a kind of, and this is what she said, a killer whale revenge.

Not, we just can't, out of all the things at the end of the world, right?

And what was really funny was they said this, that the killer whale that was traumatized, that the name of the killer whale was Gladys.

That sounds like a centenarian in a Blue Zone documentary, right?

Out of all the names you could be giving to a killer whale, right?

I don't even know, by the way, who gives names to some of the most life-threatening elements in the entire world, right?

Hurricane Kendra is about to wipe out Florida, right?

It's like, who comes up with these names, right?

Or Bradley the lion has escaped the zoo and is terrorizing a neighborhood, right?

It's like, man, come up with some more ferocious names that actually match what's going on, right?

So yeah, Gladys the killer whale is living up to her name, Right?

And so I thought to myself, Oh no, not the killer whales, right?

In a time of sometimes overwhelming bad news, it's important to hear some good news.

So let's bow our heads, let's ask the Holy Spirit to bless us as we take a good look at some good news in scripture.

Father in heaven, we just thank you so much again for the Holy Spirit.

And Lord, thank you that heaven is open wide because of Jesus.

And Lord, we pray this morning that you would minister to our heart, that you would speak to us.

You'd help us to know why we are here this very morning worshiping you.

This we pray in the mighty name of Jesus, let everyone say.

Now this is generally not the kind of face you want to see when you get up from prayer.

You're like, you open your eyes and there's a picture of Jeffrey Dahmer, right?

Now, if you're probably not aware, I've actually not seen this and I don't plan on watching this.

There's a variety of shows that are talking about Jeffrey Dahmer, right?

Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial killer between 1987 to 1991.

And it's believed that he has taken the life, he took the life of 17 people, 17 people.

He would not just take their lives, but he would cannibalize the very people that he had taken the lives from.

In fact, when 1991, the way he was caught was there was a victim actually running away from him, ran to the cops, the cops went to go investigate the area, they went into the freezer, and they heard a screaming because they saw all the parts that were there, and when they realized that the scream actually came from 1 of the police officers themselves, just it's really Crazy, right?

And then what happened after he was caught, he was put in prison for a number of years where eventually another prisoner took his life.

Now, when you look at the life of Jeffrey Dahmer, there is no question in the hearts and minds of just a normal human being that what you are looking at is is probably the worst of the worst right what you are looking at is the epitome of what satanic features are all about and actions right what you are looking at is the worst specimen of humanity ever, right here.

In fact, what was really interesting at his court case, there was questions that were being asked to him, like why he did this, why he did what he did.

And with what appeared to be no remorse, he said, I just wanted to taste them.

Now, when you take a good look at the life of this individual, what is so remarkable, if you're not aware, is shortly before the end of his life, he started to receive visits from a pastor.

And this pastor began to visit him and began to do spiritual counseling with Jeffrey Dahmer.

He began to give him Bible studies and eventually, get this, Jeffrey Dahmer was baptized.

In fact, what Roy Ratscliffe writes in his book, he says this, Jeff confessed to me of his great remorse for his crimes.

He wished he could do something for the families of the victims to make it right, but there was nothing he could do.

He turned to God because there was no 1 else to turn to.

He showed great courage and is daring to ask the question, is heaven for me too?

I think many people are resentful for him, of him for asking that question, but he dared to ask and he dared to believe.

Now, when you take a good look at the life of this individual, especially towards the very end, 1 begins to think to themselves, wait a minute, is this guy going to be in heaven 1 day?

This should be pretty shocking to you and to me.

And I'm pretty sure there's probably someone here in maybe 6 degrees of separation or less that is connected probably to 1 of those victims.

I mean, it's astounding when you begin to think about this very situation.

You know, I think when we get to heaven 1 day, there's gonna be 3 kinds of reunions, 3 kinds of reunions.

There's gonna be the kind of reunion, what you may call a tearful reunion, right?

It may be loved ones who passed away and they're reunited at the second coming as they're making their way to heaven.

You can think about maybe Moses reuniting with his brother.

Now Moses is like, man, I've been waiting for you for a very long time, right, right, thousands of years, right?

You're finally resurrected, Aaron, right?

And you can just imagine what that may be like, right?

When mothers are reunited to their children, when you take a good look at this beautiful reunion picture painted in Scripture.

It's a wonderful, beautiful thing we can all look forward to, right?

But number 2, there's what you're gonna call what I call unbelievable reunions, unbelievable reunions.

It's gonna be the kind of reunions that is going to be quite shocking or surprising to many of the redeemed.

Think about Stephen the deacon who was stoned.

Do you know who happened to be at his execution?
