Waging Spiritual Warfare

Now, we were involved in a war in June of 1944.

And on 1 side you had the Allied powers, which was Great Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union.

And on the other side you had the Axis powers, which was Germany, Italy, and Japan.

And the Germans had been sweeping all of Europe with virtually 1 victory after another undisturbed victory.

And they were moving rapidly and it looked like they were going to take it all.

Well the Allied powers had to make a move, and everyone knew that at some point the Allied powers needed to bring the war to Europe.

They would need to come on to the European soil, And so they didn't know where it was going to be though.

The Allies are planning to invade on European soil.

And the Allied powers did something really interesting.

They got a body of a sailor who had drowned and they dressed him up in the garments of a really high-ranking official and they put in his breast pocket phony special documents that revealed the place where they were going to be launching this offensive and that offensive was a place called Calais, France and They released this phony high-ranking military officer near the shores of France The German Army picked him up.

They're like, whoa, we got this high-ranking official who drowned.

They said, ah We know it's where they're gonna come.

There's gonna be a huge invasion on Calais, France Well, that really makes sense because if you look at the map the shortest distance between the UK and France is Calais.

It's like, was the most logical location.

So Hitler amassed like 90% of his forces at Calais.

And then June 6th came, a day we all know as D-Day.

And the Allied forces, along with the United Kingdom, did show up to France, but did they show up at Calais?

A huge invasion and hardly any German there was a German contingent there but it wasn't very big.

If the main bulk of the German army was at Normandy it's very possible we would have not gotten on European soil.

With that little contingent we had it was difficult.

Has anyone ever seen the movies you know where they depicted Normandy.

I hear it's a Saving Private Ryan I think was 1.

I hear they're pretty accurate depictions.

And when Hitler heard that there was an invasion on Normandy he was so convinced of that that phony letter and all that he refrained from transitioning his army over to Normandy for like hours and hours.

By the time he found out, they had taken Normandy.

That entire thing, pretty much you could say the whole war hinged on 1 point and it was they had convinced, they had tricked Hitler where the battle was not.

They tricked him where the battle was not.

And the title of this sermon is Waging Spiritual Warfare.

And I want to share with you the very first principle of waging successful spiritual warfare.

The first principle is you have to show up to the right battlefield.

You have to show up to the right battlefield.

And just like Hitler got tricked, Satan is tricking most Christians and they're showing up at the wrong battlefield.

It's called the Great Controversy, isn't it?

It's a battle between good and evil and the battle is over who?

Are you going to be annihilated for all eternity or will you be in heaven with the Lord?

And both sides are playing for keeps and everything is at stake, amen?

If we're fighting at the wrong location, we could lose our soul.

If you don't know what the right battlefield to show up at.

There's the physical realm, and then there's the spiritual realm.

The physical realm, it's everything that your 5 senses pick up.

What you see, what you hear, what you smell, what you touch, what you taste, that is the physical realm.

Everything that your 5 senses cannot pick up on.

I just want to see by a show of hands, do you believe in a spiritual realm?

So you believe in things you cannot see, or touch, or smell, or taste.

People struggle in general, and I would like to, I'm going to suggest to you in the sermon even Christians struggle believing in a spiritual realm But people in general especially a society gets more secular.

We all know there's a belief system out They're called atheism a more technical term.

They call them materialists Has anyone ever heard of that term materialists?

And they say if I can't touch it, if I can't see it, if I can't taste it, if I can't smell it, it doesn't exist.

A lot of the people who are teaching at our universities, teaching our science classes to all of our Christian young people, they're hard core materialists.

They do not believe in the spiritual realm at all.

But the biggest problem for materialists, the biggest problem for atheists, is there's 1 huge piece of evidence, aside from Scripture, and that's you.

There is a spiritual part of you, your thoughts and your emotions.

Can you put your emotions in the test tube?

Can we put it in a petri dish and make it grow?

Do you believe that you have thoughts and emotions?

Well materialists, atheists, they have a rebuttal to that.

We've shown through science that, you know, when people feel happy, dopamine goes up, so it's neurochemicals.

Well, I'm sorry, neurochemicals are not feelings.

There's a correlation between certain feelings and certain neurochemicals but they are not feelings in of themselves.

They take place within the spiritual realm.

So every single 1 of you is the best evidence against this idea of atheism and materialism.

There's a part of me I can't see, I can't touch, I can't taste.

And the whole definition of secular, you heard of the term of secular, everyone's so secular in Tahoe or whatever.

The definition is having attitudes and activities that have no religious or spiritual basis.
