Believe What God Sees

And as you think about this question, I want you to close your eyes.

As your eyes are closed, the question I want you to think about is do you truly believe what God says about you?

Do you truly believe who God says you are?

You see, we live in a world where lies have obstructed the truths about who God is and who you are.

How many of us have ever felt undeserving?

After today's sermon, you will have the tools to never feel that way again.

Speak to me, speak through me, that your people may hear your voice.

You see, there are 2 major things that hold us back in life.

2 major things that hold us back in life and growing in Christ.

And those 2 things are this, the lies that we believe about ourselves and the lies that we believe about God.

The lies that we believe about ourselves and the lies that we believe about God.

You see, in life, we're like a blank canvas.

And unfortunately in society, people get to put brush strokes on us, whether we like it or not.

And this starts to impact both the way that we see ourselves and the way that we see God.

You see, if you look at a piece of abstract art or a piece of art with a line on it, you don't know which 1 is the first line unless you're the artist.

And all of us have been painted on by societal norms, whether we like it or not.

And because of this, God understood that this would take place.

And so throughout the Bible, God is constantly reminding us of who we are, almost to the point where it seems excessive.

Have you guys ever seen this trend in the Bible?

What are some of the things that God tells us?

And it's almost to the point where it seems that it's excessive.

You see, God does this from the Old Testament all the way to the New Testament where he's constantly reminding us who we are.

And so I looked at this and I started to ask the question, why does God do this to the point to where it seems excessive?

Because none of us in this room Would go to a friend and tell them the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again It would be excessive yet God does this with us And so I started to dig into this and I was wondering, why does God do this?

How far you go, how much you grow, is not just dependent on your identity in Christ, but what you believe God believes about you.

How far you go, how much you grow, is not only dependent on your identity in Christ, but what you believe God believes about you.

You see, many of us have believed lies about who we are.

And not only lies about who we are, but we've also believed lies about who God is.

And so today we're gonna look at 2 core verses.

And we're gonna dig and see both the identity of God in 1 and the identity of Satan in 1.

Because if you don't understand the truth about who you are, then you will be defined by the lies that you believe.

I sat down 1 time and I was studying this verse.

And I gave this verse about 5 minutes and then God showed me go back and then I went back and you would not believe it but I sat down and I studied this 1 verse for an hour And the power of the Word of God is incredible.

So I wanna share with you what I learned in this 1 verse.

James 1 verse 17, it says, "'Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above "'and comes down from the father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning now what did we just read well let's break this verse down The first thing says every good gift.

That means not only do you get good gifts, but they're every single 1 is good.

But continuing on, every good gift and every perfect gift.

And so what we've learned so far is that it's not only a good gift but it's also a perfect gift.

Every good gift, every perfect gift, well, who does it come from?

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from where?

You see, so every good gift, every perfect gift comes from the father of lights and when you look at this the father of lights is intentional because it's showing that there is no darkness in him what is the opposite of light And what is the opposite of darkness?

Darkness, so even just looking at this so far We know that there's a good gift and not only is it a good gift, but it's every good gift not only is it every good gift but it's good and perfect and it does not come from satan why because the Location of this person is up above and then not only is he up above but he's also the father of lights which means that you can derive just from this that it can be none other than God.

Continuing on, with whom there is no variation or variableness.

In fact, when it comes to math, there's a variable and there's a constant.

You see, the variable changes depending on the value of the equation.

But what God is, God says, hey, it doesn't matter what equation happens in your life, I will never change.

Continuing on, it says, or shadow of what?

So I started looking into this and I said, what in the world does this mean?

Shadow of turning, it means that even if he could change, he would not change.

And so here we have, in other words, we can read this verse like this, every good and perfect thing that you have comes from God up above who has no darkness and does not and will not ever change.

And I started to look deeper and deeper and deeper into this verse And God started to show me that everything you have in life that is good comes from me.

Now, why is it important to not only know what Jesus says about us, but to believe the truth that he says about us.

And ultimately the verse says that, as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.
