Dearly father Lord as we place our minds in your sanctuary Specifically as we dwell in this the holy place Father lift our minds to heavenly things lift our minds to you Let my words not be my own but yours, Father.

And if my human words mix up or mess up, please bring them to your people's ears as yours.

In our journey through the sanctuary, we have been learning that God is revealing to us the plan of salvation, amen?

The outer court, or the process of justification, we learned that the curtain represented Jesus, right?

Next, we come up to the, what do we come up to first?

This is the beautiful place where the sin and sinner are separated.

He's the 1 who takes away the sin of the world.

I don't know if I need to hold still to keep that from happening, but I don't hold still very well.

God, who takes away the sin of the world, this is the cross where Jesus volunteered his life for yours.

It wasn't just that Jesus said, "'There's a crowd of people, I'll give my life for them.'" he looked down through the ages to you and gave his life for you, friends.

We serve a personal God who sacrificed himself on our behalf.

Continuing down that path, we come to the labor.

Just as Jesus was baptized, which inaugurated His commitment to His Father and to ministry, when we enter into the baptismal waters, we are born again, committing our lives to Jesus.

We discuss that baptism is as essential, if not more essential, to the Christian than the wedding is to the marriage.

So the outer court teaches us how we become a Christian.

It is where God deals with our record of sin.

That is a very quick summary for about 4 hours of what I've been talking about, right?

Much of the Christian world overlooks the fact that the message continues.

We then enter into the holy place where we learn how to remain a Christian.

Inside the holy place, we have on the right, the table of, showbread.

Straight ahead is the altar of, and on the left or the south side, we focus on our presentation today, the golden lamp stand.

And we're gonna talk about the blessed oil that went in there and you can see an artist's rendition on the screen there.

So if it's your first time, there's a few people I think are new, if it's your first time we have these study guides and it's pretty much question and answer as we go throughout.

It's basically a Bible study question-and-answer guide.

Number 1, what is the lampstand made of and what kind of work was to be done in making it?

Exodus 25 verse 31, You shall also make a lampstand of pure gold.

Its shaft, its branches, its bowls, Its ornamental knobs and flowers shall be of 20 pieces.

Its shaft, its bowls, everything shall be 1 piece.

I bet it was a sight to behold, don't you?

You know, it says in the Bible that it was 1 talent.

Any guesses on how much 1 talent weighed of gold?

There is Jewish tradition tells us it was probably between about 5 to 6 feet tall.

Well, I'm 6 feet tall, so I don't need to go up here.

And it was probably about 3 to 4 feet wide.

And if you remember, the building it was in was lined with what metal?

Can you imagine coming into that room, which we wouldn't have been allowed unless we were priests, going into that room and seeing those lit lamps reflecting off of the gold throughout the room?

Dancing around that light and then the angels like we talked last in this morning on the curtains and the angels above and on the curtain behind it was probably like we couldn't even imagine what it would look like.

That's the 1 thing I love that the sanctuary goes around, the group of kids that go around and bring that sanctuary, but the gold and the dazzle and the splendor of it is just so subdued in that example.

Can you imagine the craftsmanship that God supplied the talents to build that model?

Friends, I'm gonna tell you today that God supplies the talents we need today for our church.

Now, number 2, how many branches did it have and how were they arranged?

You shall make 7 lamps for it and arrange its lamps so they give light in front of it.

There we see it again, and I promise it's not going to be the last time.

What number do we see over and over in the sanctuary?

As we discussed prior to this, that it is God's number for completion or perfection.

This lamp stand had to be set up parallel to the wall in the tabernacle.

And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light to cause the lamp to burn, " how long?

"...continually In the tabernacle of meeting, outside the veil, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his son shall tend it from evening until morning before the Lord." You will find burning in those lamps is what we're going to spend most of our time today on.

This oil served as the source of fuel, allowing the lamp to burn and provide light.

The priest's job was to make sure it was constantly filled, to make light continually.

What does the golden lampstand, number 4, tell us about Jesus and us?

Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, I am the light of the world.

He who follows me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.

Have you noticed a trend in the sanctuary?

What does everything in the sanctuary tend to point to?

In a world full of sin and darkness, Jesus is your only light.

Let your light, I'm sorry, let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

For many people, the only Jesus they will know, the only Bible they'll ever read is you.

How many times have you been in a car and gotten mad at someone driving and just wanted to, I don't know, honk your horn, just get mad, do whatever.

In lines, it's amazing how many people are willing to push and shove.

But friends, if you can imagine for a minute that that interaction you have with them might be their first introduction to Jesus.
