Creating God in Our Own Image

Thank you for freedom of worship we still enjoy in this country, but we know it won't last forever.

We thank you, dear God, for the transportation you gave us that brought us to this place.

We thank you for the homes that we have, the food that we have, the money you've given to us.

As we bow in your presence, dear God, if we've sinned against you, forgive us, Father.

I ask you to put your words in my mouth, the humility of Christ in my heart, that the words I speak may be your words.

Father, pour out a special blessing on all those who identify themselves as guests.

Touch them very personally, very intimately, dear God.

For those watching online, bless them because they're part of us and you love them.

Father, if anyone watching online is not a Seventh-day Adventist, give that person a special sweet blessing and put the double blessing on their children.

Bless this country, remind the leaders somehow, dear God, that righteousness exalteth a nation.

Remind the leaders, dear God, that the Most High ruleth in the kingdoms of men.

Now, Father, wherever services like these are being conducted bless your people bless the worshippers again father bless me I pray not for my sake but for the sake of truth In Jesus name I pray let God's people say amen and amen Genesis 1 reading from verse 26.

I'll release you as soon as I can Genesis 1 reading verse 26 You have that The Bible says and God said let us make man in our image after our likeness.

But God as creator did not only make Adam and Eve.

On day 1, verse 3, Genesis 1, the Bible says, and God said, let there be light and there was light.

Verse 6, and God said, let there be affirmament in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters and God made a firmament.

Verse 11, and God said, let the earth bring forth grass.

And so God made light, he made the firmament, divided the water from the land, he made vegetation On day 4, he made sun, moon, and stars.

While the Bible tells us, and God said, let us make man in our image, we were made directly in the image of God, but because God is a creator, the creator left evidences of himself in all of his creation.

And our subject is, let us make God in our image.

You can look at 6 different painters, look at their works, even though they paint the same scene, there are subtle differences because each painter is different.

If you study music seriously, classical music, you will arrive at a point where you can identify who wrote what just by the style.

You can say that's Mozart, that's Beethoven, that's Handel, that's Bach, that's whomever.

When you create something, something of you goes into that thing.

If you love literature, you can decide this writing, this is Shakespearean, this is Milton, this is Hemingway, this is whomever because every person has a style and the person cannot withhold his or her style from entering into the work.

What I'm saying to you is this also applies to God.

Now, listen to Psalm 19 verse 7 and you know it very well.

The heavens declare, come on, say it with me, the glory of God.

Now, the Bible does not say the heavens were made in the image of God but by observing the heavens you and I can come to some conclusions about the 1 who made the heavens.

But the Bible says in the beginning God created heaven and the earth.

Isaiah chapter 6 verse 3 tells us the whole earth is full of his glory.

This means by looking at a flower, the variety of fruits, the variety of animals, Someone should honestly conclude whoever made these things is a God of order, beauty, law, symmetry, design.

The glory of God is in the heavens because when God makes something by studying that thing, you can learn something about God.

And so the Bible says, for the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made.

The invisible things of him the creator from the foundation of creation of the world are clearly understood.

But the clearest expression of God is not in a mountain or a river or giraffe or flower.

It is in those made directly in his image.

Having said that, Let us go to Genesis 5.

The Bible says, an Adam lived 130 years and begat a son in his own likeness after his image.

The first image is in Genesis 126 and God said, Let us make man how?

Now we have Adam had a son in his own likeness after his image, not God's image.

And I hope someone has already prayed and said, Lord, put your words in that man's mouth.

In Genesis 1, verse twenty-six, God created and the image of God was placed in what he made, Adam and Eve.

In Genesis 5 verse 3, Adam and Eve procreated and their image was placed in that first boy, Kane.

I said earlier, if I make something, something of me goes into that creation.

And it's essential that you get that point.

You can look at a building and identify the architect because he has a style.

Having said that, because of sin, we naturally dislike the things of God let the Bible tell you more clearly go to Romans chapter 8 Romans 8 it's 3 minutes after 12 I won't keep you very long but I'll take as much time as necessary to get my point across.

Fathers, I continue to speak to those whom you love.

Give me simple and direct language I pray in Jesus name.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God.

The carnal mind is not subject to the law of God.

But the Bible says the law of God is the whole duty of man.

So not everything God requires of us the carnal mind opposes.

And that's how we're born because we're born not in God's image.

We are born finish my words in Adam's image.

When Adam sinned, that was not the first instance of sin in the universe.
