Let's pray and we're gonna start if you're just joining us we love that you're here it's awesome all right let's pray God you're good and we want to be Lord I know the purpose isn't us being good but us being with you and when we are with you we will be good Lord I've prepared and I've done what I can.

I'm humbled that You've opened a door for me to speak on something that's really near and dear to my heart.

And I pray that you will amplify what is true, that you'll amplify what is true, and if I'm gonna and if I say anything that is outside of what you would want me to say that not a single person in this room would hear it and that the truth of Jesus and the truth of Scripture would be lifted up that we would be a people ready and excited to see you face to face.

We'd recognize, man, you've always been our home.

Speak through a fool like me because I need you in Jesus name Amen we've been talking about biblical faith in a secular world biblical faith in a secular world if you have your Bible you can turn right away to first Peter 315 Although I will have it on the slide here in just a second make sure this is all working And yes, there we go This has been our theme text that we've been looking at throughout the course of the meetings But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord is holy always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect.

Know your stuff, know why you are what you are, or maybe you aren't what you think you are if you don't know why you are what you are.

Everyone knows the old thing, God has no grandkids, right?

So know your stuff, but also be prepared to give an answer for why you believe what you believe.

But at the same time, do it in a way that's Christ-like.

No sense in saying that, oh yeah, I'm a follower of Jesus, if like you are trying to like, you know, bust people in the kneecaps and rickroll them all the time.

There is an eloquence from the writings of Sister White, there is an eloquence far more powerful than the eloquence of words in the quiet consistent life of a pure true Christian.

What a man is has more influence than what he says.

It is our own character and experience that determine our influence upon others.

In order to convince others of the power of Christ's grace, we must know its power in our own hearts and lives.

The gospel we present for the saving of souls must be the gospel by which our own souls are being saved.

That hopefully makes sense and it's straightforward.

If you asked a doctor, would you take this medicine?

They're like, no I wouldn't, but here you should.

Only through a living faith in Christ as a personal Savior is it possible to make our influence felt in a skeptical world.

Notice that it doesn't say only through only through having deeply studied apologetics and being an answers person and being very articulate and being very knowledgeable.

And that's good news because a lot of us, including myself, at times there is so much I just don't know and I don't know how to answer, right?

But I know how to prayerfully and lovingly be with somebody and be willing to dialogue and search together, right?

Only through that, a living faith in Christ as a personal Savior is possible to make our influence felt in the skeptical world.

No other influence that can surround the human soul has such power as the influence of an unselfish life.

The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable Christian." Can't say it enough.

I'm doing an apologetic seminar, but I hardly believe in apologetics.

This is my disclaimer that I give at the beginning of every time, and for those of you who have been here for a while, you know why it's maybe not the best field of study, right?

Because nobody is interested in coming to Jesus if all you want to do is fight them and convince them in all the ways that you are right and they are wrong and therefore don't you now want to join my church right nobody's interested in that and so maybe that method is not the greatest method but my hope is this my hope is that we can intelligently be able to communicate the things that we believe, right?

And if you're wavering, if you're wavering, I don't even know where I what I believe in God, I don't know what I think about the Bible, or maybe you walked in today because like you've heard of this thing that Adventists talk about called the investigative judgment, but you've also seen a whole lot of reels and YouTube stuff that call Adventists heretics because we believe in this, then my hope is that hopefully what we can do today is we can give you a clear way forward to see that this is biblical and that it's good news.

So this doesn't just have to be for the purpose of you memorizing it to share with others.

And then in time, that can be for others.

How many of you feel like right now you could probably explain what this is?

How many people in this room think that you could give a Daniel 8 Bible study on 1844 and the investigated judgment?

I did 4 of these yesterday, so thanks for being here.

What I want to do is start off with a question.

I want you to turn to somebody next to you in here in just a second.

Let's just say that you're on the plane back after GYC and somebody turns to you and they see, I don't know, they see you wearing something, oh gee, I always see what's that, oh yeah, this is Adventist Conference, and you say the word and they're fresh off a YouTube video in the last 24 hours.

And it's basically explaining that, oh yeah, Adventists believe in this heretical view.

It's a heresy, this idea of a heavenly judgment, whatever.

And they turn to you and say, don't you guys believe that you're not actually saved yet?

That there's this final judgment test you have to pass that there's some sort of what is that investigative judgment thing about?

Okay, so there's a lot of A lot of really good points have been made the idea that there's a bigger thing than just whether or not I'm saved that was Made by my friend back there that we're looking at the full picture of God's vindication of his name of saving of his people There's the idea.

It's not another whether or not I lived perfectly.

It's whether or not I have perfectly accepted Christ, right?

Whether or not I've perfectly given myself to him to be covered by his blood.

And also there's a time-sensitive element that was mentioned both places here.

There's a time-sensitive element, which we kind of talked about in our last seminar, That the remnant church, that group of people who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus, their thing, their whole thing is not like, woohoo, we've done it, we've arrived, we're awesome and perfect.

Their whole thing is like, this is where we're living in Earth's history, come to God.

Just like Noah's job, this is where we are in Earth's history, get on the boat.

There should be, because if you're weighing your options morning of the flood, there should be a little more urgency if you think that like it might be just as good an idea to go work In your garden as to get on the boat.

You know what I mean morning of the flood.

So that's where we're at Okay, we're gonna talk through this stuff with my clicker.

There it is I'm gonna go ahead and just read at length for a second here, just so we can get this officially.

Because I think 1 of the problems is that everyone has their own version of this, whoever – who's ever encountered this.

That you had somebody represent this doctrine to you, and it wasn't actually what it was.

And then a lot of people say, well, that's horrible, and that's heresy.

And I would say that maybe the way that some people talk about the investigated judgment, I would say is heresy.

And they leave Adventists very vulnerable to legitimate criticisms, legitimate criticisms, but they're criticizing something that isn't actually what we believe, all right?

So let's go right back to our official kind of written statement.

There is a sanctuary in heaven, the true tabernacle that the Lord sets up in not humans.

In it, Christ ministers on our behalf, making available to believers the benefits of his atoning sacrifice offered once for all on the cross.

At his ascension, he was inaugurated as our great high priest and began his intercessory ministry which was typified by the work of the High Priest in the holy place of the earthly sanctuary.

In 1844, at the end of the prophetic period of 2300 days, he entered the second and last phase of his atoning ministry, which was typified by the work of the High Priest in the most holy place of the earthly sanctuary.

It is a work of investigative judgment, which is part of the ultimate disposition of all sin.

Typified by the cleansing of the ancient Hebrew sanctuary on the day of Atonement, we got it.

So I will point out that as Adventists, as seven-day Adventists, I think there are kind of 3 key teachings that we have that we sometimes will get flack for and Usually when somebody starts wavering on you know on 1 of these they end up throwing out all 3 of them and kind of walking Unfortunately, you probably are aware of them.

How many are aware of the key theory 3 probably it's the seventh-day Sabbath the inspiration of Ellen White and the idea of the investigated judgment.

And so we're not, let's not be ignorant of others perception of us, right?
