Show Me The Father

Before I begin with prayer, I want to take this time to apologize in advance.

I'm struggling with like a chronic cough, and I hope you guys will be able to pay attention to the Word, because that's what matters.

Father in Heaven, thank you for your Sabbath, thank You for Your love, thank You for Your Word.

Be with me now as I share this testimony and these passages from Scripture.

I think this is the first time I've told this story in public.

Don't worry, it's nothing that's going to turn my cheeks red.

It happened a couple weeks ago, and I want to get as many details correct as possible.

I'm going to tell it the best I can remember.

Little Randall probably woke up that day like any other day.

Like most excited young boys of about 7 years old, he was unaware of the events that would soon change his life.

You see, he and his family were going to the beach, not too far from here, out the 91, past Riverside, past La Sierra, near Laguna.

Our Finish the Work team had planned a trip to the beach.

Mike, too, was on, knowing that my wife and son Josiah were out of town, had encouraged me to go.

Understanding we would be out late, I was reluctant, but after considering it prayerfully, I decided to go with them to join the rest of the team at the beach.

About half the group was already at the beach, about 30 minutes from Laguna.

Some wanted to stay on the beach that they were at, others wanted to go to Laguna.

As Providence and Freedom of choice would have it, they loaded up in their cars and decided to meet us in Laguna.

Upon arriving, we scouted out a nice spot to set up our picnic.

While waiting for the other cars to arrive, we found a beautiful grassy knoll overlooking the magnificent ocean and crowded beach.

Eventually the rest of the group arrived.

While carrying down the last load, my brother in Christ, Jeremy Salvador, asked 2 of us to grab some more gear out of the back of his truck.

After we located the truck and got the gear, we made our way across the parking lot and back down the hill.

As we neared our resting spot, that's when I saw him.

He was following 2 people who I assume were his parents or older siblings.

This young boy was in hysterics, crying, sobbing really, while trying to make his way up the hill.

The 2 ahead of him looked back at him as if annoyed and trudged onward up the hill without a word.

The frantic sobbing continued, thoughts entered my mind.

Why aren't they trying to calm this kid down?

He's probably mad because he's having to leave the beach and is throwing a fit.

It is amazing how we, on the outside, looking in upon a situation, so quickly jump to conclusions.

That would place someone else at fault and liberate us from taking action while justifying our condemning spirits.

How can we who know so little judge another when Jesus who knows the hearts said to the Pharisees in John 8 15, you judge after the flesh, I judge no man.

So here Jesus walking as a man, a sinless man judged no man.

Yet there I was, surrounded by the evidences of the Father's creation, his love, moments from missing an opportunity to show a suffering soul his Father, because I was too busy judging after the flesh.

Praise the Lord, he was able to get through to my stubborn heart and encouraged me to ask a simple question.

His course changed as if immediately as a magnet to steel, he practically threw himself at me.

The little boy had been separated from his parents.

Attempting to calm him down, I steered his horse to our resting spot and offered him some water.

Through his tears he expressed to me his plan to go through the massive parking lot attempting to find their car before they left him.

He thought his father and his mother had left him.

Attempting to ease his grief, I tried to use reassuring words.

As I think back on that moment, I wonder How many people are wandering in this world, unsure?

How many people do we pass on a day-to-day basis that have a picture of God?

They think that all the problems in their life are a result of Him.

Turn in your Bibles with me to Romans 10, verse 14.

Romans 10, 14 says, Romans 10.14 says, How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?

And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

And how shall they hear without a preacher?" Brothers and sisters, we are in God's vineyard.

When Christ was on this earth, Did he do his own work?

How many, how many people have we passed this week?

If God had planned this past week, 1 individual, just 1 individual for us to reach Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and we here, figuratively representing 100 people, miss each 1 of those providential opportunities.

That's 600 people that could have been shown the Father that are still wandering doubting His love for them.

And I know not every experience is the same.

Not every experience is going to be a little boy that you find that's wandering on a beach.

But 1 thing I do know, regardless of the differences and varied experiences, if we are being consistent, representing Christ to the world, showing the Father the love to the world, we won't have doubt, and we will have peace.

When you're living the life that God has called you to live, you have no matter what you say or what you do.

Turn with me in your Bibles to John 14, chapter 8.

And this is where the title of our message comes from.

John 14.8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you?

He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.

And how sayest thou then, show us the Father?

Believest thou not I am in the Father and the Father in me?

The words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself, but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me, or else believe me for the very works sake.
