Powerful Secrets in Genesis- Part 1

Father in heaven we thank you so much again For your incredible grace.

Thank you Jesus that all of heaven is looking down upon her But God, I know that all of heaven is looking down upon every person here as well.

And decisions are being weighed in the balance.

God, we want to give this time to you and ask that you would bless us with a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

We pray that in our weakness, your strength would be made perfect.

God, we need a message that will inspire us and give us that heavenly current.

This is going to be a Bible study sermon.

You would think that those 2 words are not separable, but they are.

But this sermon is going to be a Bible study sermon.

I also want to let you know that this is an extremely busy time.

And this is the time that God Really wants us to be seeking first his kingdom.

1 of the things that we have gone forward with is the showing of the hell and mr.

Fudge movie We talked about that and I'll show the trailer in just a minute again but We're going to be having 2 showings of this movie and the movie is Describing a man's journey a lawyer who was contracted to study out the subject of hell now You may not think that's important being a seventh-day Adventist because of what you know But I will let you know it has caused more people to be skeptics of God than any other false teaching.

That's why it's extremely important that we take any avenue, sanctified avenue, and let this message be proclaimed all over the world.

So 2 slots have been opened up for us at the Modesto State Theater.

If you look in your bulletin, you'll find that.

And that is next Saturday night, the 26th, at 7 o'clock, we'll be showing the movie, and it's free.

It is completely useless just to have Seventh-day Adventists in this theater.

We need non-Adventists into this theater.

So please invite your friends and family.

The movie is done in a very excellent way.

It's done with quality and there's some humor in there as well.

The second showing will be the 31st, which will be a Thursday night, and that is the next week.

For the many of the ladies who are going to be gone this coming weekend, don't worry, you get a second shot, amen?

I can't do anything after that moment, okay?

But I'm gonna be showing this trailer to you.

And after this trailer, I'm gonna share 2 interesting experiences that happened this week.

Well, I was approached by a Canadian fellow named Robert Smead, and he's been consumed with this whole idea of hell.

Well, this fellow had read some of my articles and offered to pay me a little money to study the subject so that is what I'm prepared to do.

Well I think the death of that Hollis boy really changed him.

It made him question things maybe he hadn't thought about.

You see when you have a friend and then suddenly he's gone.

You're told he's burning forever in hell.

Now Edward, you realize you're attacking the very foundation of Christian religion.

Folks are partial to the truth of the Almighty God.

What's a kid doing burning forever in hell?

It is so simple I can't believe I missed it.

Gospel is not about building up walls to keep people out.

It's about breaking down walls to invite people in.

This Fudge character's out of control and I, for 1AM stumped.

I think we need to send a message loud and clear to all the Edward Fudge's of the world that we are not about to let his lies and distortions go unchallenged.

Holloway says I have my own gospel, but he is mistaken.

I don't have my own gospel, and I certainly don't have some corner on truth.

I just want to get right to the point, Edward.

We feel that now might be a good time for a change.

It's nothing but a luncheon, pure and simple.

Well, I see that our guest has arrived, so we might as well get started.

You know, if I had a couple of slices of bread and some mayonnaise, I could make a sandwich with all the bologna here tonight.

To be tearing down the very church he loved and everything it stood for.

You know, it's really hard to see you like this.

You just wait until all of evangelical Christendom shows up at your doorstep ready for some some serious grilling You are something mr.

And I give this movie trailer 2 thumbs up.

So, but this is gonna be a special time and I've talked to several different people.

In fact, I also had the Bob Workers hit up MJC campus and they had some very interesting experiences.

So really quickly, I'm going to call up Greg.

Maybe you can come up here and Lily, if you want to come up here really quickly.

They were able to pass it out to some people.

And some of the people that they passed out is going to be very, might interest you.

So, Gray, why don't you tell us what happened with your encounter when you were passing out flyers for the Hell in Mr.

Well, while we were at MJC, we actually ran into a man named Dante, and we handed the flyer to him.

So we met this gentleman named Dante, and as I handed the flyer to him and just said, hey, check it out, it's a free movie at the State Theater, he started walking away, and about 2 steps later, he stops, freezes, looks at it, and turns around, says, hey, what is this about?

Powerful Secrets in Genesis- Part 2

Let's bow our heads for another word of prayer.

Father in heaven, thank you again for the tremendous blessings you give to us each and every day.

And Lord, thank you God that you desire to commune with your people as you did with Zacchaeus so many years ago.

Jesus, our hearts desire is that your righteousness would be upon us, that you would cover us with your precious blood.

And Lord, we pray and ask that the Holy Spirit would be here in a mighty way to invigorate us, to commission us, to charge us with your word.

And Father, we pray and ask that in the remaining years before your second coming Lord our walk with you would grow ever so deeper for this we pray in the name of Jesus amen now how many men Actually are alone today because of the women's retreat raise your hand 5 people You're not alone.

So you guys know tonight is the showing of our movie hell in mr.

Fudge many people say what is that movie about?

I've had to have very unusual conversations as I'm explaining it to people.

I told 1 individual, I said, it's a movie about hell.

It's not really appealing when you think about it, but the truth of the matter is that this is a movie about a man who was searching out this issue about what happens to people when they die especially in regards to the wicked are they eternally being punished and being tormented or is the bible saying something else and it's a true based upon true events And I think it's going to be a really exciting thing.

You know, I've had opportunity to pass out to a variety of different people.

And it's so funny because when you're passing it out to people, they think that the very postcard you're passing out to people is a ticket.

And so, you know, I had 1 individual say, oh, can I have another 1 of those tickets?

But a lot of people are interested in this and because it's something that's describing that something that is so fundamental in Christian that needs to be understood and that is God's justice and God's mercy.

I think that more people are probably, I should say, more interested in going to a movie than they would be to going to church.

So you don't have to worry so much about rejections.

You would be surprised how many people, if you say to them, well here's a free ticket or here's a free pass to come to this movie, you'd be surprised How many people are actually interested in coming out tonight is the first showing that's at 7 o'clock And I really want to challenge you church family that you would find somebody perhaps as somebody on your cell phone Who's not a Seventh-day Adventist Christian and you would call him up And you would say hey look why don't you come to this movie tonight with me?

I'd be surprised you'd be surprised how many people would be like I'd be all about it And so this is the time to really Invite people and let them know look come out come on out and see what's happening tonight I really believe that God has been just producing a lot of divine appointments.

The pastoral staff has been praying for you, church family, that God would open up many opportunities.

I've heard stories of, you know, somebody walking by a cemetery and Being able to hand it out to somebody I heard somebody being able to pass it out to their neighbors And to the person at the store their teacher and there's so many people who are receptive to this so this is a time to really invite people and get them to come on out and that it movies at What time and what time do you think you should be there?

Not 530 You'll be waiting outside You might want to be there around 630 to make sure you get a good seat all the other churches know about this as well So you better believe they're gonna be coming on out Don't worry.

I believe there's gonna be plenty of room God always provides room and by chance if there is a problem where we are so packed that no 1 can come in I am sure there's gonna be wonderful seventh-day series seventh-day Adventist who are gonna get up and say take my seat.

This isn't a church pew that has a little dent in there.

Why don't we get started with today's sermon?

It's called powerful secrets in the book of Genesis part 2 next week It's going to end the three-part series on the book of Genesis when you read The Sabbath school quarterly you find out that it's about what's the key word?

Origins right where we come from because where we come from is super important where we come from determines where we are going And it's extremely important if there's ever a time to understand origins It is now and let me go as far as to say this and I mentioned this is 1 of the Sabbath schools That it is becoming troublesome in this day and age to say That you take the book of genesis literally You will be ridiculed if you say I believe in a six-day creation You will be ridiculed if you say I believe marriage is between a man and a woman The day has come where anyone who says they accept the book of Genesis is being, is someone who's just considered ignorant.

Folks, right now, right now we sort of have the shield of Christianity.

But the time is coming where Christianity Is more and more compromising and seventh-day Adventist may be the only ones who say we're gonna take a stance on the book of Genesis I was watching this Piers Morgan interview and there's nothing more annoying than watching that interview show and He was telling I think it was Rick Warren.

He was telling him he was saying you we need to amend the Bible We need to change it folks More and more people are gonna say to you Do not believe in this book You will be ridiculed if you say, I believe in the Bible.

But if there ever is a time for Seventh-day Adventists to say, I believe in the Scriptures, it is now.

And there are many people who love Jesus who are people of the book as well But God is calling us as a church to stay committed to the scriptures like never before You know as we continue to study the book of Genesis, I take a philosophy of science class And I just hear the repetitious just sort of denunciations about anyone who claims to be a creationist.

You know, here's the thing to understand about the Bible and about creationism and about science and this is actually just before we get into the sermon.

Because of the flood a lot of geology has been so rearranged it is very difficult to get an accurate reading on how old the earth is.

And so we can look into all the things that the strata we could say the world is this old world is this old this you know, it's it's a This age, but the truth of the matter is the strata is so rearranged It's very difficult to actually locate and say, you know what there is an age, but we know what the scriptures are teaching Can you say amen to that in fact a lot of people ask the question they said well How are we supposed to show people who are let's say scientists how old the earth is?

Here's something that I believe is general I really believe it's some super important for God's people to know science and to be aware of what's out in the World and there's many different views on what science actually is But it is a rare thing.

I've seen this in my own experience my limited experience It is a rare thing for people to accept the Bible because of creationism In fact, I find more people Accept creationism because they accept the Bible When I'm doing Evangelistic series, I'm sure many people have questions about origins, but as they begin to see proof and and They can trust the scriptures.

They then can trust what the Bible says Existed at the very beginning that God created the world in 6 days over and over again I have found this to be true.

In fact when I became a Christian, I had a lot of questions I was raised in Southern, California.

I was went through you know a college and University I just I learned what evolutionary science was teaching now when I became a Christian it's not like strong arguments were being presented to me that just really overwhelmed me that I needed to become a creationist Instead as I begin to see truth in the scriptures like in the book of Dan or in the book of Revelation And what Jesus was saying over and over again over and over again I begin to find the Scriptures to be more and more trustworthy.

And as I begin to believe the Scriptures, all of a sudden I begin to believe that God did create the world in 6 days.

We really need to present the Bible as the truth.

And so we're going to get into the book of Genesis right now.

We talked about the origin of man, how God created man in his own what image right he brought man into his own category We also learned about the origin of women right and as I remember last week I was preaching about the origins of women and I was talking about how The purpose of the help meet as the Bible says you can find about 19 verses that describe that same word being used to describe God's rescuing help and 3 words to describe military aid and therefore God as I was saying and what is the purpose of women?

I think it was Jim Warby who said, military aid.

But we also learned about the origins of the Sabbath, 3 blessings that God did in the book of Genesis, right?

He told the animals be fruitful and multiply and fill the sky, right?

God took something that was empty and filled it then we learned about how God told Adam Eve Be fruitful and multiply fill the earth God told Adam Eve to fill the earth that was empty and then in the Sabbath we learned about How God took this time that was empty and the Bible says in it He rested So God filled the Sabbath with his own presence.

So now we understand more about the Sabbath.

We learned about the origins of mankind, we learned about the origins of women, we learned about the origins of the Sabbath.

We also learned about the origins of Adam's struggle, and how he gave up the rib and how basically the same word is also described in the book of Genesis Showing when Jacob wrestled and how his side was touched as well and with Adam when he gave up the rib It led to a Union with Eve we learned about how Jacob when he wrestled with God it led to a Reunion with Esau and then we learned about Jesus the Greek word actually describes that That part that's describing his side as rib that led to a reconciliation with mankind God and mankind being reconciled So we learned a lot of different things from last week I know many people have said I know you are overloading us with information.

Well, here's the thing to understand I am presenting things to you in a certain way because I want you to go home and to take this and to study it out for yourself.

What takes place Sabbath morning can never fill you for the entire week.

So now we're going to get again into the book of Genesis.

Take your Bible, we're going to Genesis chapter 4.

And so I really advise you to take notes or to get the audio recording, you can go online.

Because we're going to be going 90 miles an hour.

We are looking at powerful secrets in the book of Genesis.

And from Genesis chapter 4 we learned or Genesis chapter 3 we learned how Adam and Eve Because of their sin the Bible says that there was going to be consequences, right?

We also learned about the very first promise that God gave Adam and Eve right that through Eve would come the life giver hence she was named Eve after the curse which means mother of life Adam believed that life and redemption would come through Eve Now I want you to see what takes place in Genesis chapter 4 starting with verse 1.

Knew Eve his wife and she conceived and bore who?

Okay and it's, and I want you to see what happens next.

And I do not want you to forget what she says next because we're going to go back to it.

Does anybody else have a different translation?

Powerful Secrets in Genesis- Part 3

You know, I praise the Lord because He is the 1 who anoints us and calls us, even though we are definitely unworthy.

And I can tell you right off the bat, I know there are much more qualified men who could do this position.

But I praise God, it's His Holy Spirit who equips us.

Why don't we begin with a word of prayer?

And let's ask Jesus to bless us with the Holy Spirit as we continue in ministry.

Lord, we thank you so much for your goodness and your kindness.

Thank you, God, for the privileges you bestow upon your people.

We are praying and asking Now for the present blessing of the Holy Spirit, that our hearts and minds would be touched by the word of God.

And Lord, we pray and ask that you would continue to dwell in this place.

And we pray that every person who leaves this sanctuary will have known that they have encountered the King of Kings.

Now, it seems every Sabbath the fact that I'm single keeps coming up.

You know, it's so funny, I, you know, I went to this GYC thing a few years ago.

I went just recently, I did a seminar, but I went to this, went to a GYC a few years ago and there was this guy who was giving a talk on relationships.

So I said okay let's go and sure enough it was the most packed class.

Why would that class be the most packed class?

You got a lot of young people with hormones and so that class was just completely full and once it was done there was a lot of people who were surrounding the presenter.

A little bit humiliating at the same time.

So, after he was done, my friend decided to go talk to him.

So, you know, I didn't want to go up there because I think I know all there is about relationships.

And so he walked up there, and my friend started talking to him, and there were still a lot of people who were waiting in line.

And they were beginning to just crowd in around us.

And my friend, he turns to the teacher, and he says, please pray for us that we find wives.

And you know what the teacher does, the presenter?

He starts praying out loud in front of all these people.

God, please help these young men to find wives.

There's somebody out there who will love them.

And the whole time, look, I'm brown skin, but I turned red I Was there and I was just like oh my goodness there are so many people here right now that's how I felt just a few minutes ago, But I'm excited because God has a message for us.

But really quick, I do want to share something very special that's taking place tonight.

And we know the right arm of the gospel is what?

So I'm gonna invite Jessica Rice and Daniel Vieira Jr.

Really quick up to the front and they're going to be our presenters.

And what's so exciting about this, we have been getting calls from the community, people are just walking off the street and they said, we heard that there was a cooking school taking place here, a vegan raw cooking school, we would like to be part of this.

And so really briefly, I'm gonna have Jessica and Daniel just share what they're gonna be doing tonight.

Well Thank you, Pastor Anil, so much for this opportunity to come and share my passion for nutrition and healthy cooking with you.

And knowing that you're preaching on Genesis this morning, it reminded me of Genesis 2, verse 9.

And out of the ground, the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food." So brothers and sisters, did God know what he was doing when he made fruits and vegetables?

He certainly did and tonight we're going to share with you how to include more vegetables in your diet, how to eat more plant-based, and to achieve super immunity.

You know, when we arrived, I had the privilege to speak to 1 of your church members, and he said something really interesting.

But he said, what I've realized is you could be a fat vegetarian, which is so true.

See, in the world we live in we have an epidemic and that epidemic is obesity.

And we know that disease is rampant So I invite you all to come out tonight and learn some tools that we're gonna share with you on how you could eat Food for super immunity and Jessica is gonna show you how to cook these wonderful foods.

So come out tonight at 7 o'clock I believe All right.

God's doing some special things here at Ceres, and it's not because of us, it's because of Jesus, amen?

We've had so many different kinds of outreach in preparation for our prophecy seminar that starts when?

How many people went to that raise your hand?

Now If you were there on Thursday, you would know that the Pentecostals came to town.

We did a Q&A and many of them had questions and it was very interesting.

So if you were there Thursday night, you know that that was an explosive night.

But I praise God because many people walked away saying, you know what, I have been enlightened with what I've just learned God is good Amen this teaching About eternal torment has to be refuted and the Bible gives clear answers Let me just tell you something This makes or breaks many people's Christianity.

In fact, 1 of the reasons why most people are skeptics is because of this teaching.

And God has entrusted us as Seventh-day Adventists to let people know what the truth is about what happens to the wicked.

And so all this stuff that took place was just simple preparation for what's going to happen for our prophecy series.

Alright ladies and gentlemen we're going to begin with our final sermon in the book of Genesis, the powerful secrets in the book of Genesis part 3.
