What an awesome privilege it is to be able to speak on behalf of the Lord.

1 of the questions my wife asks me many times before I get up to speak is, Are you nervous?

And Honestly, I don't get nervous to get up and speak in front of people But where I do become hesitant is That whenever I have an opportunity to get up in front of people and speak on behalf of the Lord I pray that the Lord can fill My heart can fill me so that the message that gets Spoken the message that is heard can be 1 that is his message and not my message And so I pray this morning that as a message we will hear will be 1 that is not 1 of my own ideas But will be 1 that is a message that the lord has in store for each 1 of us before we pray I'd like to read a couple verses from the book of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah chapter 1, starting with verse 4.

Jeremiah chapter 1 and verse 4 says, "'Then the word of the Lord came to me saying, "'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.

"'Before you were born, I sanctified you.

"'I ordained you as a prophet to the nations then said I our Lord God behold I cannot speak for I am a youth but the Lord said to me do not say I am a youth, for you shall go to all whom I send you and whatever I command you, you shall speak.

With this promise from the Lord, I'd like to kneel and pray.

Heavenly Father, Lord, we thank you for this Sabbath day.

And Father, we thank you for the blessings, for the privilege of being able to learn about you, Father.

Lord, we thank you for the awesomeness, the grandness that you are.

And yet us simple people, we get to partake in an experience with you and Lord how blessed we are.

Father this morning on this Sabbath is we're going to endeavor into a simple subject into a basic subject father I pray Lord that you send your spirit father Lord I pray that you send your spirit so that the message that gets across again father is not a message of my own ideas but will be a message straight from your throne.

Lord, clean me, empty me, Father, that I may be filled and may be used as an empty earthen vessel, Father.

Lord, that I can transmit the words that you would have me speak.

The title of today's message is Wind Graspers.

Is it all fool's gold at the end of the tunnel?

Here in church, we're filled with mainly people in their youth.

And this question actually doesn't just focus on those who are in their youth, it focuses on people and it actually can have meaning to people of all ages.

But I know here, there's many youth here.

And it's a question that begs to be asked as a youth.

I remember 10 years ago, when I was going through high school and I graduated from school, I really struggled.

I failed the class that was the easiest class in the history, I think, of this school.

It was the English class that was just, I mean, so easy.

I mean, you just basically had to show up and you would pass.

Well, to make a long story short, I failed the class and I had to take an adult school, I had to go to night school.

And I didn't finish that class until 1 week before graduation.

It was at that time when I started sending out invitations that I began to think, oh no, what am I going to do?

If I don't finish this class, I mean people are going to come and they're going to be expecting a graduation, they're going to be expecting this, what's going to happen?

It was at that time that thoughts began to come about in my mind where I begin to think, what is the point in life?

What is the point in striving and going on to higher and higher places?

For many of us here, I totally understand and I know that many of us here have a very solid answer to that question and a true answer to that question.

I know many of us here are looking for things such as Jesus' return.

Many of us here aspire to be missionaries.

Many of us here are studying in different professions and things that are going to help the work of Jesus, the cause of the Christian movement, the Seventh Adventist movement.

While we're here in a place where people are studying and preparing those things, are some of your aspirations obtaining recognition?

Recognition whether it be in your medical field, dental field, public health field, whether it be in your own line of work that is outside of the healthcare field, are you striving, are you aspiring to obtain recognition?

Are you looking for wisdom to find what it is that you are looking for?

Maybe for some of you it's just a good old family.

Maybe for some it's to find a spouse, a mate.

I just got married and 1 of the things, 1 of the topics that my wife and I have is when are we going to have children?

Are those some of the things as a couple, as a married couple, are those some of the things that you were looking for to bring you happiness in your life?

Is it something that will define success for you?

Maybe for some of you who are past those steps, maybe some of the aspirations that you are looking for, some of the things that you're striving for include more vacation time.

Have these thoughts ever crossed your mind?

Have you ever walked in these shoes where you've asked yourself, when I get this or when I get to that point, it is when I get there or when I get that, that's when I will find what I am looking for.

That's what is the purpose, the drive of my life.

When I get this or when I get that, I'll be happy.

I started a pediatric dental residency here in Loma Linda.

And it's a program that there may be 1 or 2 here that when I say it's a difficult program, you may chuckle.

It is a difficult program for me, maybe not for all, but it is a difficult program.

There's a lot of reading, there's a lot of dedication, a lot of time that goes into this program, but it's a program that I thoroughly enjoy.

And it's a program that I do aspire to be able to take and do some good things for the cause of Christ.

But, as I've spoken to some people, some people out there on the streets, people, friends, family, they've told me that I've made it.

Would you think looking at somebody who's gotten into a respected residency, somebody who has acquired some type of job that is respected, would you look at that person and think, oh, they have made it.

Again, the question that we're asking is, what is the point of life?

To answer this question I'd like to go to the wisest man and see if he, if he, if he touched on this subject.

We're going to turn to the book of Ecclesiastes and ask the wise man this question.

And Solomon, is there anything that you can teach us?

As many of us know, the book of Ecclesiastes was written by Solomon towards the end of his years.

And as Solomon was looking back and seeing the picture behind him of how his life went about, he wrote about it.

And that's what the book of Ecclesiastes is.

And so we're going to look at this book and we're going to ask that question, what is the point of life for you Solomon?

Maybe the wisest man struggled with these questions.

Solomon may have had all he had ever wanted.

And quite possibly, all we may have ever wanted.
