Three Angels Before the End

Let's open our Bibles to the book of Revelation chapter 1.

I'd like to start with Revelation chapter 1 and just look at the very first sentence.

Revelation chapter 1, the very first line of the book.

The book starts out by saying that this is the revelation of who?

The book of Revelation is the last book of the Bible.

It is the greatest book on prophecy that's ever been written ever in the history of this world.

It's the bookend of the Bible, the last book.

Some people think, well, let's just talk about Jesus.

But the first sentence of the book of Revelation tells us that it is the revelation of Jesus Christ.

And I understand that to mean that revelation comes from Jesus.

And so it is a false dichotomy to say, let's just focus on Jesus and let's not focus on the book of Revelation.

Jesus has given us this book to help us to understand the issues that we need to understand, especially as we are right before his return.

Now when you look at the book, and there's a lot in this book, there's a whole host of things.

There's churches and trumpets and seals and a final conflict, Armageddon, the second coming, the new earth.

There's a whole host of things inside this book that are very, very powerful.

But as I've studied this, I've been reading Revelation for 36 years, I've concluded that the heart of the book is Revelation chapter 14.

Revelation chapter 14, because the themes and the truths that are described in Revelation 14 are the final themes that the world is dealing with and that swirl around the people of God at the very end of time.

Revelation 14 verses 6 to 12 describes 3 angels.

In my Bible, and I've got a New King James Bible, it says above verse 6, there's a headline there, this is the proclamation of the 3 angels.

So the idea of 3 angels is not just something that we made up, It's right here in the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Now, it's significant that right after the 3 angels' messages are given in verses 6 and 7, 8, and then 9 through 12, when they're done, something big happens.

That something big is Jesus Christ's return.

You can see that in chapter 14, verse 14.

14.14 says, Then I looked, and behold, a white cloud.

And upon the cloud 1 sat like the Son of Man, having on his head a golden crown and in his hand a sharp sickle." And in verse...at the end of verse 15, it says he's told to reap because the harvest of the earth is ripe.

The ripening of the earth, the ripening of the harvest.

And then Jesus puts in His sickle and He reaps the harvest of the earth.

This is the final division of the 2 groups.

Those that are ready and those that are not, the wheat and the tares.

So, I just want you to get this, that in your Bible and in my Bible and in everybody's Bible, Whatever translation you have, all Bibles have 3 angels in Revelation 14, 6 to 12, and then verses 14 to 16, followed by the return of Christ.

And this tells us that the 3 angels' messages go to the whole world right before Jesus comes.

And to me, that is extremely significant.

This information comes from Jesus himself.

Now look at these quotations, couple quotes here on the screen.

This is a statement that Ellen White made approximately 100 years ago.

She said this, in a special sense, Seventh-day Adventists have been set in the world as watchmen and light bearers.

To them has been entrusted the last warning for a perishing world.

On them is shining wonderful light from where?

And we have wonderful light shining from the Word of God.

They have been given a work of the most solemn import, the proclamation of the first, second, and third angels' messages.

There is no other work of so great importance.

They are allowed nothing else to absorb their attention." Now, that is a very powerful statement.

My conviction is that God raised up Ellen White to point us to the Bible and to show us what we should be doing because it's in the Bible.

Now, this may sound like a narrow-minded statement to some, but it is a fact.

It may not be politically correct, but it's a fact.

There is no other church, there is no other movement on planet Earth, anywhere, that is a worldwide movement that is focusing on and communicating the 3 angels' messages as described in Revelation chapter 14, verses 6 to 12.

Now that doesn't mean there's not a lot of good Christians in the world, in lots of churches.

Seventh-day Adventists believe there's lots of Christians in lots of churches that are going to heaven.

We don't believe we're the only Christians, that's for sure.

But just as God raised up Noah and gave him a message, just as God raised up John the Baptist and gave him a message, just as God raised up Martin Luther and gave him a message.

Raised up William Miller and gave him a message.

God has raised up Seventh-day Adventists in a special sense and given them a message that he has that he is not has not given as a people to any other church on this planet.

Doesn't make us any better than anybody else, it just means we are a called people.

We are called like Israel was called to give this message.

And we need to be faithful to the calling that God has given to us as a church.

Now here's another quotation, 1 more, and then we're going to actually go right into the Bible and read those messages.

She said that these messages, referring to the 3 angels, these messages were represented to me as an anchor to the people of God.

Those who understand, we need to understand them, and receive them.

It's 1 thing to just know about them in your head, and it's another thing to actually receive them into your soul.

And receive them, they will be kept from being swept away by the many delusions of Satan.

She says that she was shown that it was represented to her that the 3 angels' messages are our anchor.

That if we are rooted and grounded, if we receive them, if we understand them, then we will be protected from being swept away by the many delusions of Satan.

It's not just the emerging church, that's 1 delusion, which I talked about last night.

The religion of Islam, although there's lots of good Muslim people, that religion is a delusion.

Death & Life Are In the Power of the Tongue

You know, when we're talking about what we say, we're talking about the mind and our tongue together.

What we say is a product of what our minds are thinking and what we're dwelling on.

Ellen White says in Mind Cure, That is the chapter of Ministry of Healing, page 241.

A very, some very pertinent and precise and powerful statements that are in harmony with the Proverbs text that we've just looked at.

You know, discontented people tend to complain a lot.

Distrustful people tend to be very sad people look what she says all of these things grief anxiety discontent remorse guilt distrust all tend to break down what kind of forces life forces now did you know that we can speak grief we can speak anxiety we can speak discontent we can speak remorse and regret and guilt, and we can speak distrust, and that will tend to break down the life forces and invite decay and death.

To kill, to destroy, or to give life and build up.

Victims of disease, Often because of the power of the mind to self-destruct.

The mind needs to be controlled, she says.

That's in Mind, Character and Personality, Volume 2, page 397.

Did you know you can control your thoughts?

You can decide what you will think on and what you will not.

You see the problem, the problems that we face in this life have to do with incorrect thinking and the negative thoughts that we allow our minds to pursue.

People are sick in this world around us, bearing burdens from their past, bearing weight of unforgiveness, bearing weight of a spirit of criticism and of reproach.

The mind needs to be controlled, for it has a most powerful influence upon the health.

The imagination often misleads, and when indulged, brings severe forms of disease upon the affected.

I'm just bringing together some of these principles taken from a mind, character and personality and elsewhere from the spirit of prophecy that speak about the mind and our need to control it and not it us.

And what goes on to say the opposite here?

Courage, hope, faith, sympathy, love do what?

What we say, what we think, what comes out of our mouth, what is the product of our mind and our thinking will affect us either positively or negatively.

A contented mind, a cheerful spirit is health to the body and strength to the soul.

And Mary's rejoicing heart does good like a medicine.

But you know this aspect of what we say and what we think is often missed by Christians today and we don't realize just how much power there is in it.

Neil Nedley would talk about emotional intelligence.

What will determine how successful you are in life has not got so much to do with your IQ, but with your emotional intelligence.

So you can be less intelligent, but be able to manage your emotions and you will get further in life because of that.

Well, our thoughts and our words will affect our emotions.

If we can control what we think and what we say, we will be happier and more effective people.

And it all has to do with what our thoughts dwell upon.

When it comes, there's a quotation by Dr.

Neil Medley, when it comes to emotions, our feelings result from the messages we give ourselves.

Have you ever been talking to yourself in your brain?

Talk to yourself in your think, then you can talk about people in your brain, and they will know about it.

When it comes to emotions, our feelings result from the messages that we give ourselves.

Your thoughts, listen to this, your thoughts have much more to do with how you feel and what is actually happening around you in life.

So what that is telling us is that we can be in control of our feelings but most often we succumb to this belief that we feel and our feelings are a result of what is going on around us and we've got no control.

You see there are thoughts that are based on what is true and in God's eyes, and then there are thoughts that we think are true.

And you know what the Bible says about what we think is true.

The Bible says, there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

There is a way that seems right unto a man.

Where does that way seem right to a man but in his mind.

There are things that we think that are right, but they are not, and they lead to death.

They feel that they are not smart enough, successful enough, attractive enough, or talented enough to feel happy and fulfilled.

Or they think that their negative feelings are strictly due to others.

That others, what others have said to them, how others have raised them, etc.

There may be elements of truth because bad things can happen And life can be hard at times.

However, all of these thoughts have the tendency to make us victims when we blame how we feel upon others and upon the circumstances around us.

We have the power to change our thoughts.

Because we think the causes result from something beyond our control.

We can control our thoughts, our emotions.

In contrast, you can change the way you think about things.

You can also change your basic values and beliefs.

And when you do, you will often experience lasting changes to your mood, your outlook, and your productivity.

This is called cognitive behavioral therapy.

We need to line up our beliefs with what is true.

Most of the times, Our thoughts are dwelling upon things that are not true about ourselves and about other people.

And they make us get all upset with ourselves and with others when there's no truth in it.

You know, somebody once said the following, for attractive lips, what should we do?

If Some people worry, I'm not good enough, smart enough, or beautiful enough.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, ladies or men, Share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.

I am looking forward to a wonderful communion service with you this morning.

And I've never seen so, a church have so many events, this has been probably event wise, the busiest month I have ever seen in any church, anywhere, at any time.

We have a lot of things going on, don't we?

There's no reason why any person would not be able to say, there's nothing for me to do.

There's nothing for me to be involved with.

Well, this morning, I was praying last night and I was praying this morning, and this week has probably been 1 of the most prophetic weeks of modern times.

You will find people who will say the opposite of that, and there's plenty of those within the Adventist Church.

But let me tell you, friends, the stage is being set for the final events of prophecy to be unfolded.

And they're going to continue to unfold at a more rapid pace as time continues.

And brethren and sisters, we are sliding into monumentous times like we never have before.

Now people will say, well, you're just fear-mongering.

Well, if speaking the truth is fear-mongering, then I'm fear-mongering.

But in my book, Everything that Seventh-day Adventists have preached for the last 150 years is now being witnessed to become true.

We can safely say as Seventh-day Adventists, we've been right all this time.

Not with arrogance and pompous attitude do we say that, but with humility, with trembling, because with that knowledge also comes the knowledge that we have a great responsibility to the world to tell them about Christ, his death, his resurrection, and his offer to give them righteousness by faith, his offer to the world to dwell within them, his offer to them to live eternally with him, and the truth that Jesus is coming back to this world very soon.

We have a grave responsibility, dear friends.

With that, I'm going to bow, I'm going to kneel, invite you to bow your heads wherever you are, I'm just gonna offer a prayer as we take a look at a few thoughts this morning.

Father, this morning we thank you so much for the opportunity, dear Lord, that we have to gather here together as your people.

And I pray, Father, that we would sense the solemnness of the times, the importance of the times, the magnitude of the times, and in experiencing that, we would not be moved by sensationalism or emotionalism, but that we would be rooted and grounded and cemented in the sure word of prophecy and the truth of your word.

And we ask today, dear Father, that the Spirit of God would touch our hearts and in opening to us the magnitude and the momentous times in which we are living, it would also create, the Spirit of God would create in our hearts a need to have a deeper walk with Christ, a deeper walk with our Savior, a deeper walk with you, Father, and that our hearts and our lives and our minds would be laid bare to the Spirit of God, and that all of our sin, Father, might be forsaken, and that Jesus would cover it in the heavenly sanctuary.

And Father, we live on the edge of eternity, and many of your people are sleeping.

All throughout the world they are sleeping.

But oh how you are calling us to awaken today.

And Lord, we ask this morning that we would have a special connection with Jesus.

In case you had missed this week, 3 key events took place.

I'm just going to briefly mention some of these and we'll be breaking for foot washing here in just a moment.

On Wednesday of this week, Pope Francis appeared in America.

He landed and he was greeted by the president and his wife.

And he was also greeted by Vice President Joe Biden, his wife and family, and several other dignitaries.

It was written that no world political authority, no other person has been greeted with the depth of those people as Pope Francis was this week.

No 1 has greeted, been there, never before has that taken place as the way that it did this week.

And then you see the address at the White House later that, I believe it was Wednesday, Pope Francis and President Obama exchanged speeches, You see the 2 flags flying in the background.

Then on Thursday, September 24th of 2015, just this week, Pope Francis entered the congressional chamber of our nation.

It was the first time in history that a pope had stepped foot in that room.

50 years ago, there would have been a revolt if that tried to take place.

And yet, not only did he enter into the room, but he entered the room with the cheering of senators, representatives, and presidential cabinet members.

And he walked down the aisle and he stood in that pulpit being praised and honored as if he were God himself.

And there it almost seems like he's glowing in the desk there.

And that place was packed and there was not 1 person who was seated.

People are not remembering what took place centuries ago and they are opening the doors for it to happen again right in the streets of the United States of America.

He speaks to Congress here with Speaker of the House Mr.

Boehner in the background, Vice President Joe Biden there, and he gave a very eloquent speech.

Then just yesterday he spoke to the entire UN, was given the invitation to speak to the United Nations, and there he gave another rousing speech.

Here he is with Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary, and he is treated...

His place is elevated amongst world leaders, and he is being placed in a position of global authority over all nations.

He's not viewed anymore as 1 of the world powers.

Everyone is looking more and more, and dear friends, I don't have time today, but in a few weeks after the Doug Batchelor meetings, I'm going to present, I'm going to preach an exhaustive message on this subject.

And it is mind-blowing, it is spine-chilling, it causes me to tremble to see the prophecies of Revelation 13 and 17 being fulfilled in our midst.

If that does not awaken us, I'm not sure what will.

Not only the book of Revelation, is it now coming to life?

I mean, I have often thought to myself, what it must have been like for the Adventist pioneers as the 1260 year prophecy and the 2300 day prophecy were fulfilling in their day.

I thought to myself, what must it be like to see and know that you're living at a time when a major prophecy is concluding.

Oh, but how we now know what they must have felt like.

And not just that, but when the prophecy of the 2300 days took place, they weren't sure, and they had the great disappointment, they weren't sure if they were really even right for a while.

But there is no mistake that as we see these events unfolding, it's exactly what prophecy predicted.

And not only that, but in the book Great Controversy, if you have not read that book, please let me give you a copy today.

And the book Great Controversy, not just Do we find the broad view, but the very specific things are mentioned in there that would happen, many of them have already happened, and you'll see more of that on October 17th, when I preach that message.

And let me tell you, friends, there are people today who are trying to deny that in fact I read an article just this morning.

I won't tell you where I found it because I don't want you to go read it.

That basically said we need to revisit our interpretation of Revelation 13 saying essentially that it is absolutely ridiculous for us to hold the view that this is the Roman Catholic Church in America uniting together in prophecy, saying that there's no possible way that John the Revelator would have been able to see in prophetic vision the times in which we're dealing with now.

But let me tell you, what was written and our understanding of the prophecies, those prophecies, what has been written there in the great controversy and how we've come to understand Revelation 13 and other chapters and the fact that the interpretation that we came to and the message that we've been preaching for 150 years, now that it's unraveling and taking place just as we've always said it would, there is no chance that that is just sheer coincidence.

If those people are right in what they're saying, then what we see happening now in our historic understanding of prophecy are just totally coincidence.

Let me tell you, we've been right about this thing.

Just an excerpt from the speech of Pope Francis to the United States Congress.

Notice this, he says, we know that no religion is immune from forms of individual delusion or ideological extremism.

This means that we must be especially attentive to every type of what?
