Hello friends. Welcome to the seed pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today. As we spend time with our friend, Jesus spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together. Praising him. Our world has recently experienced what is called a pandemic. It's where a disease is all around a country or the world. And if a disease is all over, just a certain area or region, it's called an epidemic. That's the difference? So a pandemic is across the world. An epidemic is just in a certain area or region. Well, why am I telling you all this? The writer of this HYM shall we gather at the river was Robert Lowry and he was gazing out the window of his Brooklyn home in New York. He could see people in the streets crying. There was an epidemic of yellow fever and people were dying by the thousands. There was no way to stop it. Everyone was panicking and living in fear. His heart was touched by all the sorrow and it led him to think about heaven when believers would be reunited by the river of life. That revelation chapter 22 verse one talks about he got up, went over to his organ and composed both the words and the tune to this HYM shall we gather at the river? Shall we gather wrap God the shiny This week? We're talking about loneliness. Have you ever been lonely? Maybe you're lonely because you don't have any friends. Maybe you're lonely because you've moved to a new location, a new school. Maybe your parents have gotten a new job. And so you are lonely because you don't have a lot of friends. Maybe you're lonely because people don't wanna spend time with you or be around you. And that can be really hard, but did you know that Jesus has Bible promises for us? We're gonna talk about those promises this week and go over some of the Bible verses. So I wanna make sure that you have your prayer journal. We've been writing down every single day, a new Bible text for our prayer journal. This week, we have six Bible texts on loneliness. So let's go ahead and open up our Bibles to Matthew chapter 28, verse 20. So get your Bibles. We are going to look at Matthew chapter 28, verse 20 Matthew is that first book in the new Testament, Matthew chapter 28. It's at the end of the end of the book. All right, Matthew chapter 28. And then let's look at verse 20. What does that say? Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you and low I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. Do you know who is saying this? It's Jesus. Jesus says that he is with us always even to the end of the age. So if we remember that he's with us always, do we have to feel lonely? No, we can talk to him. We can think about him. We can share with him our struggles. So today we are going to pray a prayer using this verse. All right. So I'm gonna imagine that I've moved to a new place and I don't have any friends there yet. And so I'm going to talk to Jesus and pray this Bible verse in a prayer. Here's something like what I would say, dear Lord, you know that we're in this new location and it's hard. I feel really lonely. I feel scared sometimes I don't have any friends. And I want some Lord. You have promised that you are with me always, even to the end of the world. And so I pray that you will help me to remember that, to think about that and that you will give me the strength and the courage to face today. Amen. Do you see how I use that verse in my prayer? It's pretty exciting. Isn't it? This can make prayer time come alive. So I want you to write down today's date as well as today's Bible verse Matthew chapter 28, verse 20. And if you can't write very well that's okay, because what you can do is you can either have an adult help you. They could write it down and you trace over their words, or you could copy it if you are able to copy it. And if you can't do either of those, you can always draw a picture, maybe of Jesus being right there with you. So I wanna encourage you to remember today that Jesus is with you always, even to the end of the age. I don't know how many of you go to school and you might have what's called testing week. And that is a time when all you do all day long is you take tests and it's supposed to tell the schools how they're doing with teaching the students and how well the students are learning. Well during testing week, you have to sit very, very still. You have to concentrate. You have to really pay attention to the questions and you fill in the blank and there's just, you sit there. And then when the test is over, then you can go outside. Well, there is so much excitement when you're done with that test. It's like, yes, I am free. Oh, I don't have to sit there. And my back doesn't have to hurt. And I don't have to sit and concentrate and I can run around outside and get my wiggles out and all of that. Well, I think of that as being a little bit of how the children of Israel were feeling when they were finally allowed to leave Egypt. And we're gonna talk about that this week. I think this is probably one of the most exciting stories in the entire Bible. And it is one that we get to study this week that I am looking forward to. So first let's bow our heads and pray for God's spirit to be with us. Lord. I am so glad, so grateful for this time that we have to spend with you to take this time with you. And I thank you for each boy and girl that's listening. I pray that you will give them a special blessing today that you will help us to follow you and trust you and give you our whole hearts in Jesus' name. Amen. The children of Israel were finally free. They were no longer slaves. They were on their way to the land of Canan. Now there were thousands and thousands and thousands of them. Some historians have estimated around 2 million people plus all of their animals, the dogs, the donkeys, the cows, the, the sheep, the goats, all of their animals, maybe even camels and there they were getting ready to go on their journey. Let's read Exodus chapter 12, verse 33, Exodus chapter 12, verse 33, Exodus chapter 12, verse 33. If you need more time, press pause. And when you're ready, you can press play again. We're looking up Exodus chapter 12, verse 33, And the Egyptians urged the people that they might send them out of the land in haste for. They said we shall all be dead. So are the Egyptians trying to keep the Israelites there? No, they're not. They're actually wanting them to leave. The Bible says that they were urging the people to go because Israelites had been slaves. They had never been paid for all the hard work that they had done. They had to do all this work for free. Moses told them that before they left Egypt, they were to go and ask the Egyptians for silver and gold for clothing, for anything of value. Look at verse 35 and 36 verse 35 and 36. Now the children of Israel had done according to the word and Moses. And they had asked for the Egyptians articles of silver articles of gold and clothing. And the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of Egyptians so that they granted them, what they requested. Thus, they plundered the Egyptians. Now, as the Israelites started on their journey, they were no longer poor. Now they were rich, quite a large number of Egyptians chose to leave Egypt and go with the children of Israel. Some of them had learned to worship God, but you know what most of them were doing, they were just excited to get away. They thought maybe this'll be a fun trip. Some of them could have been just wanting to get away from the plagues and their country is completely decimated. They, everything had been destroyed. Livestock animals, the, the farm, all of the things that they were trying to grow, their I'm sure many of their houses, their palaces, when you have hail that comes down, it ends up destroying things. Yeah. Their country was decimated. So some of them were just out there for the exciting trip. Some of 'em were trying to get away from the damage that had happened with the plagues. But either way, we know that there was a group of Egyptians who left Egypt with Moses and the children of Israel. In fact, Moses calls them the mixed multitude and they often cause trouble along the way. We're gonna hear about them in the future. Do you think that as the children of Israel were leaving Egypt, that they were just kind of leaving in little groups here and there, or maybe it was just this one, mass Exodus and people were getting trampled. No, they left in a very orderly way. Remember Moses had been the leader of an Egyptian army. He knew how to organize people. They had their leaders, their, the families had bigger family groups and those groups had a leader. And then those groups were part of a bigger group. And it was very organized. Have you ever seen a marching band? It's a group of people. I think of it generally as students, but it doesn't have to be, but it's a group of people that play instruments and they March along as they are playing their instruments. And so you'll have these rows of people that are playing their instruments and marching all in perfect time or maybe army or military leaders who have their soldiers do these different parades, where they March in order. And everyone's in line. And now I don't know that everyone was marching in step, but they were definitely organized. They weren't just going this way or that way. They were all organized by groups, by families, adults, children, animals, each person had a place where he belonged as they left Egypt. Let's read the last part of Exodus chapter 13, verse 18, Exodus chapter 13, verse 18. So God led the people around by a way of the wilderness of the red sea and the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt. It says that they went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt, you know, many years before God had told Abraham that his descendants would have a hard time in another country, but then they were going to come back to Canan with great wealth. Was that happening? Yes, it was. God also said that they would become a large nation. Was that happening too? Yes, it was. God was working in a mighty way. He was keeping his promises that he had made to Abraham hundreds of years before. And we're gonna continue finding out if the Israelites were able to just leave and it was super easy. Or if there were some trials that were coming and would they have the faith to trust God through those trials? Hmm. We'll have to find out next time. Lord help us to trust you and your promises that you give to us in your word. The Bible help us to trust that you will take care of us, that you will see us through, that you will provide for us, that you are our God who loves and cares for us, help us to trust you in that, help us to give you our hearts and our lives, our problems, our trials. We love you so much in Jesus name. Amen. Our memory verse is Psalm 78, verse 53. It says he led them on safely so that they did not fear. Who is this talking about? God, yes, God led the Israelites safely. They didn't have to be afraid. Did you know that he wants to do that with you? You could say he led me safely so that I do not fear. God loves you. And he wants you to trust him as he leads you through the trials and the joys through the good times and the bad of life. He doesn't want you to be afraid Some 78 53.
