Hello friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together. Praising him. The children of Israel were conquering the land of Canan. One battle after another who was fighting for them? Well, it was God. Sometimes he sent hail, sometimes he sent earthquakes. Sometimes it was just good old confusion, but as long as they trusted in him, he led them on conquering and to conquer. Did you know that God wants to do the same thing in your life? He wants to help you to overcome the enemy. It may not be a real enemy with a sword and a shield, but there are plenty of other enemies around us like pride, jealousy, anger, disobedience. The list can go on and on. When you reach out to God, he will help you. Let's sing sound the battle. Cry together. Bad cry for your pass the word along on Christ when the battles before soldier Christ has kept the Wow. Wow. This is such an exciting story that we've been talking about and learning about this week, isn't it? Oh, and I'm on the edge of my seat because we learned last time that gin was about to go against the enemy with 300 men, and they were armed with a trumpet in one hand and a torch that was covered with a pot in the other hand. And there they go. He divided them into three different groups and they're about to go and face the enemy. Oh, what's going to happen? We're gonna find out in just a minute, but first, let's bow our heads and pray that God will be with us as we study this story. Lord, you have promised to give your spirit your Holy Spirit to those who ask. And so we are asking today that we will be touched, our hearts will be touched, and maybe this is a story that is very familiar to some boys and girls. Maybe it's one though that no one's that they haven't heard before. I pray that you will help us to see things the way that you want us to see them in a way that changes our hearts and helps us and encourages us. In Jesus' name, Amen. It's the middle of the night. Gideon's 300 brave men were standing on top of the hill. They were ready and eager to fight the enemy. Soldiers were sound asleep at the valley at the bottom of the hill. Each of Gideon soldiers had a pitcher that's like a pot that covered a torch. In one hand they had a trumpet in the other. Can you hold a torch in one hand and pretend to hold a trumpet in the other? Here we go. Everyone listened carefully as Gideon told them exactly what to do. They knew that they must do exactly what he said. Look at judges chapter seven, Judges chapter seven, and then we're gonna read verses 17 and 18. So you wanna get your Bibles. If you haven't gotten them all ready, go ahead and go get your Bibles. We're gonna look this up and read it together. I love to hear the Bible verses being read. It's really encouraging to hear kids and listeners just like you reading these Bible verses. So let's go to judges chapter seven. It's in the Old Testament. It's before Ruth Judges chapter seven. Those are the big numbers. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and then read verses 17 and 18. Those are the little tiny numbers. Once you reach chapter seven, let's see what it says. And he said to them, Look at me and do likewise watch. And when I come to the edge of the camp, you shall do as I do when I blow the trumpet and all who are with me. Then you also roll the trumpets on every side of the whole camp and say sort of the little Lord, end of game. Gideon gave the instructions. Have you ever had to get instructions? Maybe you are at school or you're at a meeting or you're at soccer practice and the coach brings you all together and he's like, All right, here's the plan. This is what we're going to be doing today. We're gonna make sure that we do. And you know, he kind of lays out the the plan and what what you're going to do. That's what Gideon was doing. He laid it all out, told the soldiers exactly what was going to happen. So after that was done, after they had their group meeting or their team meeting, then Gideon soldiers went silently down the side of the hill. The enemy had just changed guards, but everything was quiet. As the Israeli soldiers took their places around the edges of the enemy camp, they were ready. They were set. Let's go. The moment Gideon blew his trumpet, all the rest blew their trumpets. Then they crashed their pitchers to the ground. The smoldering torches burst into flames, and as they rushed toward the enemy, they shouted The look at versus 19 and 20 versus 19 and 20 we're still in judges chapter seven versus 19 and 20. So gay and the hundred men who were with him came to the outpost, the camp, and at the beginning of the mill watch, they just as they had posted the watch and they blew the trumpets and broke the pictures that were in their hand. Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pictures. They held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in the right hands were blowing and they cried the sword of the Lord and of game, Those poor sleeping soldiers. They woke up and there was a total panic. It seemed to them that everywhere there were flaming torches, trumpet sounding, Gideon soldiers shouting the enemy, soldiers started running in all directions in the dark. They bumped into each other, and then when they bumped into each other, they, they were panic, they were terrified, and they thought, That's my enemy. And so they started killing each other. Finally, those who were still alive headed for the crossing places in the Jordan River. The river had certain areas where people would cross. It was easier to cross, maybe it was more shallow. And so those who were had escaped and gotten outta that camp without being killed by either their fellow soldiers or Gideon soldiers, they took off running as fast as they could, headed for the places to cross the Jordan River, get out of the enemy territory, get out. Now, let's read verses 21 and 22. And every man stay in his place all around the camp and the whole army ran and cried out and fled when the 300 blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man sword against his companion throughout the whole camp, and the army fled to bethia towards Xra as far as the border of able Ma by to Beth. Wow, isn't that amazing? God is so incredible. God helped Gideon in his 300 men to fight against this massive enemy army and the enemy army. They were flee. Was God proving again that there's nothing impossible for him to do? Yes, boys and girls, God gives us these stories in the Bible so that we can learn, so that we can have that faith. We can trust him. God is still just as strong today as he was in Bible times. We hear so many amazing stories in Bible times, you, Daniel, Moses, Gideon, Sampson, all these incredible stories, and you think, Wow, God worked in such an amazing way, but did you know that he wants to work in the same way for you? He loves you, He cares for you. He is on your side and he is still just as strong today as he was then. Aren't you glad for that? I know I am. Let's pray and thank Him. Lord, thank you so much for your strength, for your promises in the Bible, especially our memory verse this week. Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit. Help us to trust and rely on you and your spirit to do the work in us to help us each and every moment today. In Jesus name, amen. Zacharia four, six. Bye bye. Must be are. It's fine.
