Hello, friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together praising him. Have you ever spent an hour in prayer? I used to think that it was impossible. Oh, what can you talk to God about? For a whole hour, But one day I decided to try it. I divided up my prayer time into 10 minutes of praising God for who he is. 15 minutes of repenting of my sins. 25 minutes of asking for help for me, for friends, for people I know. And in the last 10 minutes, praying that my heart would be in tune with what God wants for me that day. If I ran out of things to say, I would open my Bible to promises and pray those. And you know what? The hour was over. It went by so quickly. And when I came out of my closet that day, I was at peace, connected to God and ready to face the day. I can't pray for an hour every day, but when I do, I have found it to be such a blessing. Sweet hour of prayer, Sweetheart. Prayer. God calls me from my world. Don't care. And it's me. Yeah, It's my fathers thrown. Make all my words and worships and seasons and grief. My soul has found relief and often escape. Bye return. Sweet. Aper. Sweet. I can. I feel my whole and take my flight and My Christ. Andwell. Well, sweet prayer. Well, welcome back. I'm glad that you've joined me again today as we're continuing the story about Hannah. Do you remember what happened last time Hannah had not been able to eat and she hadn't been able to drink, and she was very sad and very troubled. Why? Because she wasn't able to have a baby. Oh, she was so sad. And she really, really wanted a baby. She was so sad that she hadn't been able to eat. And after this special meal, she went to the tabernacle to talk to God about why she was so sad. As she knelt close to the entrance, Guess what? She was sobbing. She was crying. What was she telling God? Let's look at First Samuel chapter one, verses nine, 10 and 11. We're going to First Samuel chapter one, verses nine, 10 and 11. First Samuel is there in the Old Testament after Joshua, Judges Ruth, first and second Samuel. So we're going to first Samuel. There's two books of Samuel. You wanna make sure that you have the book, Samuel, that has a one right in front of it. First Samuel chapter one versus nine, 10 and 11. Here's what she was saying. So Hannah Rose after they had finished eating and drinking and gyro. Now Eli, the priest, was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the tabernacle of the Lord, and she was in bitterness of soul and prayed to the Lord and worked in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, Oh Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your maid servant and remember me and not forget your maid servant, but will give your maid servant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life and no razor shall come upon his head. She was making a promise to God. Well, as she's there kneeling in the, in the front of the tabernacle, she's praying to God, She's pouring out her heart to God. Someone was there too, and his name was Eli. Eli was the high priest. He was kind of the one in charge, and he was there sitting by the entrance where he could watch everyone. And he saw Hannah. He had never seen anyone praying like she was praying. In fact, most people who came to the temple, they weren't even reverend anymore. They were kind of rude. And even some women would come to the tabernacle and they would be drunk. So as he's sitting there, he's watching Hannah, and he's just in his mind, he's like, She's drunk. Look at the way she's acting. He was more and more sure that she had been drinking too much wine. Have you ever, ever jumped to conclusions, maybe made an assumption or made a judgment about somebody and it wasn't necessarily true? I kinda, I learned my lesson about 15 years ago. I was out knocking on doors going door to door, and one particular woman answered the door. And when you're sharing books and trying to get them to buy books, you try to find connections and you try to make conversation. And there was a woman that was standing there and she was a little on the heavy side. And when I looked at her, I assumed that she was pregnant, but she wasn't. But I didn't know that. And trying to make friends, I very sweetly said, Oh, when are you due? When is your baby due? And she looked at me and she said, I'm not pregnant. Basically, I just told her she was fat. Oh, I felt so bad. And from then on I decided that I would never, ever, ever ask a woman when she was due unless she told me that she was pregnant. And then I would ask that. So I jumped to a conclusion. I made an assumption that someone was pregnant and they really weren't. And I felt so bad. I I was very embarrassed. Never done that again. So here's Eli, and he's looking at Hannah and he's assuming that she had been drinking. Let's look at verses 12, 13 and 14. First Samuel chapter one, verses 12, 13 and 14. And it happened as she continued praying before the Lord. Lord, that Eli watched her mouth. Now Hannah spoke in her heart. Only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore, Eli thought she was drunk. So Eli said to her, How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you. Oh, do you think if you were Eli, that you would feel bad? I know I would. And poor Hannah, she must have just felt terrible. But quickly and gently, she told Eli that he was mistaken. Look at verse 15 and 16. But Hannah answered and said, No, my Lord, I am a one woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine or intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. Do not consider your maid servant a wicked woman. For out of the abundance of my complaint and grief, I have spoken until now. Eli immediately felt sorry for what he had said to Hannah. He had not meant to hurt an innocent person, and Hannah had not told him what she was was talking to God about. She just said that she was very sorrowful, that she was pouring out her soul to the Lord. And Eli felt so bad. So what did he say? Did Eli know that Hannah was asking for a baby? No, he didn't. He just knew that she was sad and she was pouring out her heart to God. She was committed to God. And so he told her that the God of Israel would grant her petition. I bet Hannah was excited. Don't you think suddenly that heavy feeling in Hannah's heart was gone? And as she hurried back to their tent, she knew that God had heard her prayer. Look at verse 18. The next morning her family went back home to Rema, and you can be sure that Al Cana was happy because Hannah was happy. There's a saying that my husband often quotes, and it goes something like this. If mama ain't happy, ain't no happy. Well, Hannah was now happy and everyone else was. And I'm sure Panina and her children must have wondered what happened to her to make her so different. Like she's happy and maybe she was humming or singing as she worked and just had this peace and this happiness and this joyfulness coming out of her. Huh? What was different? Well, Hannah had a choice to make when Eli had told her that God would answer her prayer. Hannah had a choice to believe him and trust God, or to not believe and not trust God. But what did she choose? She chose to trust God. You're right. And you know, boys and girls, we can choose to trust God and we can always go to God with our problems just like Hannah did. We can ask him for help and he will answer. It may not be in the exact way that we want, but he always answers us and he always cares for us and loves us. Let's pray. Thank you, Lord, that you are faithful, that you take care of us, that you are our Father who wants to give good gifts to his children. We pray that you will be with us and you will help us to remember to turn to you when we're sad or lonely or disappointed, and that we will give you our problems and that you will take them and be with us and help us.
