An Angel in the House

Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, Jesus is coming again.

Cheer up you pilgrims, be joyful and sing, Jesus is coming again.

I found a friend in Jesus, he's everything to me, he's the fairest of 10000 to my soul.

The lily of the valley, in him alone I see, all I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.

In sorrow he's my comfort, in trouble he's my stay.

He tells me every care He's the lily of the valley the bright and morning star He's the fairest of 10000 to my soul.

He'll never, never leave me, nor yet forsake me here, while I live by faith and do his blessed will.

A wall of fire about me, I've nothing now to fear.

With his manna he my hungry soul doth fill.

Then sweeping up to glory I'll see his blessed face where rivers of delight shall ever roll.

He's the lily of the valley, the bright and morning star.

Our Heavenly Father, we thank Thee for Thy mercies and Thy blessings to us.

Help us to understand the Word today and proclaim the Holy Scriptures in their purity.

We pray thy blessing upon every listener.

There is a place of quiet rest, near to the heart of God.

A place where sin cannot molest, near to the heart of God.

O Jesus, blessed Redeemer, sent from the heart of God, Hold us who bow before Thee, near to the heart of God.

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, There is no shadow of turning with thee.

Beyond the sunset, O blissful morning, when with our Savior heaven is begun.

Earth's toiling endeth, O glorious dawning, Beyond the sunset, when day is done.

Beyond the sunset no clouds will gather, no storms will threaten, no fears annoy.

O day of gladness, O day unending, beyond the sunset, eternal joy.

Here now is HMS Richards, the voice of prophecy speaker, with a unique subject, an angel in the house.

The holy angels of God are mentioned over 250 times in the scriptures, yet how few sermons we hear preached on the subject of angels.

I've looked through dozens of books of modern sermons and illustrations, read hundreds of magazine articles on religious themes during the last few years, but in most of these sources of modern Christian writing and thinking there's not 1 word about the angels.

Yet in the New Testament alone angels are mentioned more often than the Sabbath, baptism, the Christian Church, the Lord's Supper, and a dozen other important topics.

Are Christian teachers afraid of the subject of angels?

The idea that some Christians entertain concerning angels are indeed strange, unbiblical.

For instance, most artists picture angels as golden-haired women equipped with willowy wings.

A Roman Catholic writer recently protested against this, wondering why angels should be represented as harmless effeminate creatures bored with a purposeless existence.

He objected to their portrayal as ethereal glamour queens.

He reminds us that God has revealed the angels to us in a masculine, powerful sense.

In ancient times, most great writers and artists, by the way, represented angels as unmistakably masculine.

This same writer goes on to say that the devils have fared much better at the hands of artists than have their heavenly counterparts, the angels.

Seldom do we see a picture of a sickly-looking devil, neither is he feminine.

There's another protest which we should like to make ourselves.

In most of the scant references to angels which I've seen lately, it's very clear that the writers assume that they are the spirits of the dead returning to earth.

Now according to scripture there's not 1 word of truth in any such conception.

Angels are created celestial beings created by God.

They are not the disembodied spirits of human beings.

We read in Psalm 8 verse 5 that we are made a little lower than the angels.

They were brought into existence before men were created.

When Adam and Eve sinned and were driven from the garden, an angel at the gate prevented them from re-entering their paradise home.

They neither marry nor are given in marriage according to Matthew 22, verse 30.

So the angels of God were here before man, were made by God, every single 1 of them.

With the exception of the angels who failed and sinned with Lucifer, God's holy angels love their Creator and obey all his commandments, heartening to the voice of his word.

There are various orders of the angelic hosts.

Seraphim and cherubim are mentioned in Isaiah 6, 2 and Psalms 80 and verse 1.

Angels are here to help people, men and women, boys and girls.

Of the angels, the Apostle Paul says, they are ministering spirits sent forth to minister for them who are the heirs of salvation.

1 of the most comforting thoughts which I've had since childhood is that every 1 of us has his guardian angel.

Yes, each of us has his guardian angel, as Jesus suggested.

In his warning to some people who were making it hard for Christian believers, he said, Take heed that ye despise not 1 of these little ones, for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 18.10 Our guardian angel has a right to appear in the presence of God for us.

And remember, Jacob saw in his vision a ladder set up on earth, and the top of it reached to heaven.

And behold, the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

So when we ask the question, do you have an angel in the house?

If you are a Christian believer you can immediately answer yes.

A Roman officer in the city of Caesarea was seeking for the truth.

About 03:00 in the afternoon as he prayed before God an angel, the Lord appeared to him.

The angel told him to send someone down to Joppa and ask for a man named Peter who was living temporarily in the home of a man named Simon, a tanner, whose house was by the seaside.

See, The angel in the house appeared while Cornelius was praying.

And he knew the name of the apostle Peter and where he was staying, the name of the man where he stayed, and what his business was.
