The Seventh Trumpet and the Finished Mystery

Our dear Father in heaven, we are so thankful to you for your many blessings.

We pray, Father, that you will please hear our cry this morning.

Please glorify your name, and may Jesus be lifted up in our hearts.

Our message this morning is entitled, The Seventh Trumpet and the Finished Mystery.

The Seventh Trumpet and the Finished Mystery.

Please turn with me to Revelation chapter 8.

In Revelation chapter 8 verse 2, we read, and I saw the 7 angels which stood before God and to them were given 7 trumpets.

Trumpets according to Jeremiah chapter 4 as well as the immediate context of Revelation 8, represent divine judgments, the alarm of war, destruction upon destruction.

Before describing these judgments, however, John presents to us a scene of assurance, as if to remind his readers that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

No sooner does he mention the divine judgments than he seeks to focus our attention on the intercession of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary on behalf of his people.

In verses 3 to 4 we read, And another angel stood at the altar, that's the altar of incense, having a golden censer.

And there was given unto him much incense that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

And The smoke of the incense which came with the prayers of the saints ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

Notice first that the saints are represented as a praying people.

Our prayers are made fragrant by the righteousness of Jesus.

Christ, as intercessor, mingles his righteousness, his merits with our prayers, making them acceptable with God.

Verse 5, however, presents a drastic change in the scene of intercession.

And the angel took the censer and filled it with the fire of the altar, but notice, without incense, and cast it into the earth.

By this symbolism, the revelator depicts the end of Jesus' intercession and the close of human probation.

The rest of verse 5 describes events that follow the close of probation.

And there were voices and thunderings and lightnings and an earthquake.

You will readily notice that these same events take place following the opening of the temple in heaven during the seventh trumpet.

Revelation 11 verse 19 reads, and the temple of God was opened in heaven.

And there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament.

And there were lightnings and voices and thunderings and an earthquake and great hail.

You'll notice too that these events occur in association with the seventh plague.

In Revelation chapter 16 verse 17, And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air, and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven from the throne saying, it is done.

And there were voices and thunders and lightnings, and there was a great earthquake, verse 20, and every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.

21, and there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven.

Voices, thunderings, lightnings, an earthquake, and great hail.

Please go back with me to Revelation chapter 11.

And we'll take a closer look at the major events that transpired during the time of the seventh trumpet.

And the seventh angel sounded, and there were great voices in heaven saying, the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ.

Notice that under the seventh trumpet, the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of Christ.

It should come as no surprise that Christ receives the kingdom before his return.

In Luke chapter 19, seeking to correct the misconception of his disciples that his kingdom would immediately appear, Jesus placed himself within 1 of his own parables and said in essence, the Son of Man would go into a far country, referring of course to his ascension, to receive for himself a kingdom and to return.

Having received this kingdom, Jesus returns to crush earthly opposition and to reward those who, in his absence, had as the cry of their hearts, thy kingdom come.

For God's servants, the interests of God's kingdom are their own interests.

Thus, they work untiringly for its advancement.

They are the ones who devote themselves to his service, saying as Isaiah, here am I, Lord, send me.

Send me to turn men from darkness to light, from the power of Satan unto God that they too may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified.

Those alone, Ellen White writes, who devote themselves to God's service, who live, breathe, and labor for the kingdom of God, can pray in sincerity, thy kingdom come.

We've seen that when the seventh angel sounds, Jesus receives the kingdom, after which he returns and gives this kingdom to the saints of the Most High.

1 final passage will prove that Jesus receives the kingdom during the final judgment.

Verses 9 and 10, and behold, the thrones were cast down or placed, and the ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow and the hair of his head like the pure wool.

Verse 10, a fiery stream issued and came forth from before him.

Thousands, Thousands ministered unto him at this convention of the ages.

The judgment was set and the books were opened.

And in verse 13 we read, and I saw in the night visions and behold, 1 like the Son of Man came with the clouds of heaven and came to the ancient of days and they brought him near before him and there was given him dominion and glory and a kingdom that all people and nations and languages should serve him his dominion is an everlasting dominion which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

The seventh trumpet actually began with the pre-advent judgment, which according to Daniel 8, 14, began in 1844.

During the judgment, the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of Christ.

Jesus, the Bible says, receives the kingdom, and the trumpet concludes with the establishment of this kingdom at the second coming.

In 1844, a young lady by the name of Mrs.

Palmer penned the words, you know, with an understanding of these things that we're studying this morning and in eager anticipation of the demolition of the kingdoms of this earth and the setting up of God's kingdom.

Praying the words, the kingdoms at their base are crumbling.

Tell, O tell of grace abounding while the seventh trump is sounding.

During the seventh trumpet, Jesus receives the kingdom.

At some point during this trumpet, probation closes and the 7 last plagues are poured upon the earth.

Probably a reference to the time when the United States of America will speak like a dragon and together with the nations of the earth will oppose God's people and message.

The verse continues, and thy wrath is come.

According to Revelation 15, verse 2, the 7 last plagues constitute the wrath of God.

And as we have already seen, begin after the close of probation and conclude with the second coming of Jesus.

And finally, in Revelation 11, verse 19, during the seventh trumpet, we're told that the temple of God was opened in heaven and there was seen in his temple the Ark of his Testament.

This is describing beyond doubt the last phase of Jesus' ministry in the sanctuary above.

In 1844, As we alluded earlier, at the blast of this seventh trumpet, the temple of God was opened in heaven and Jesus entered the most holy place and came, as we read in Daniel 7, to the ancient of days for the final judgment and the reception of his kingdom.

It was seen that the ark representing the throne of God still contained the great original of the 10 Commandments.

This dispels all myth that the 10 Commandments have somehow been abrogated.

Since then, There has been a people who have been magnifying the law of God and proclaiming without equivocation, fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment is come.

And worship him that made heaven and earth, the sea and the fountains of waters, a call back to the creator, a call back to the Sabbath.

Come with me now, if you will, to Revelation chapter 10.

In Revelation 10, we will see the announcement of the seventh trumpet and a 2, 000-year-old prediction of the rise of an end-time prophetic movement with an end-time assignment.

This assignment involves living and preaching a message that results in the accomplishment of the mystery of God.

The seventh trumpet and the finished mystery.

Revelation chapter 10 verse 1, and I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud and a rainbow was upon his head.

And his face was as it were the sun and his feet as pillars of fire.

The striking similarities between the description of this mighty angel and of Jesus in other parts of the scripture have led many commentators, including Ellen White, to conclude that this being is none other than Jesus.

And he had in his hand a little book open, and he set his right foot, notice, he had in his hand a little book open, and he set his right foot upon the earth, upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, and cried with a loud voice as when a lion roars and the 7 thunders utter their voices.

And when the 7 thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write, And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, seal up those things which the 7 thunders uttered and write them not.

And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven and swear by him that liveth forever and ever who created heaven and the things that therein are, and the earth and the things that therein are and the sea and the things that therein are, that there should be time no longer.

The key to unlock this prophecy is found in Daniel chapter 12.

Turn with me if you will to Daniel chapter 12.

In studying the book of Daniel, it becomes apparent that chapters 9 through 12 are but an extended explanation of the prophecy of Daniel chapter 8.

The climax of that prophecy, as you will remember, is the cleansing of the sanctuary or the pre-Advent judgment that takes place in heaven just prior to the second coming of Jesus.

And as we read this, note the similarities between Daniel 12 and Revelation 10.

Then Daniel looked, and behold, there stood other 2, the 1 on this side, the bank of the river, and the other on that side, the bank of the river.

And 1 said to the man, clothed in linen, which was upon the waters.
