Financial Freedom: The Biblical Way

We're going to be sharing together this morning, and we're going to be sharing a message on financial freedom the biblical way.

I guess it's not up, but yeah, I'm sure it will be in time, but Before we do, we'll share a little bit about us.

Well, I just wanna say hello to everybody.

And I'm surprised how many people are here considering it's an Amen conference.

But yeah, our hearts have longed to be here for a while, and praise God that it finally happened, and we can be here.

So we'll be back in January, but when we come in January, we'll stay longer because we're gonna drive here instead of fly.

But right now we literally jetted in and we're jetting out tomorrow morning.

But just to tell you a little bit about us before we start.

So we have a ministry called Anchor Point Films where we go around to archeologists, historians, theologians, scholars, medical professionals, and we make documentaries about history, archeology, the Bible, health, various subjects.

And we also have a YouTube channel called Health and Homestead, where we talk about country living and research in the scientific peer-reviewed journals where they've looked at natural remedies, comparing them head-to-head with drug medications, and in many cases, it's just as good or better, typically with less side effects, significantly less side effects.

So Those are some of the things we look at on our channel Health and Homestead.

And before we begin this morning, we'll bow our heads for a word of prayer.

Father in heaven, we just want to thank you and praise your name for another beautiful Sabbath that we could come together and worship you, spend time with you, and gather together as your people, Lord.

We know what a privilege it is, and we thank you for it.

And we pray for your Holy Spirit, Father, may it not just be us here, but may your Holy Spirit be welcomed here and work on our hearts and our minds and draw us closer to you, dear Lord.

Bless us, we pray, throughout this day and in our time together.

We're gonna start off talking about materialism and happiness.

This was a study looking at 1, 310 married people found that those who placed a high value on money and possessions are more likely to have lower satisfaction in their marriages.

So people who love things a lot are less happy in their married life.

And that makes you think about what Paul said to Timothy, but godliness with contentment is great gain, right?

And thinking about this, this is something, of all places in the world, actually there's 2 places in the United States that people struggle the most, and this isn't me being pejorative, putting people down, but just from my travels.

I traveled the world and traveled every single state except I haven't been to Alaska yet, so maybe it's different there.

But nevertheless, the 2 places that struggle the most with materialism in the United States are probably in my estimation, maybe in New York, but clearly like Florida and California.

It's like We're affected by the world around us.

And so, this is kind of an important point, that you're not gonna be happy, we know, research knows, things do not make you happy.

And when Chad was in high school, he had a friend named Andy, and maybe some of you have heard him talk about Andy before, but Andy had always these one-liners that kind of made you think, and he told Chad 1 day, he said, I want to get to the point in life where I feel content every day.

He's like, I never even thought that that was possible.

He's like, I always just live for the weekend, for the next event, for spring break, for whatever, right?

We all kind of live for these things that we've set up that we're looking forward to.

And he never imagined that you could be content every day of your life.

Well, that was before he found Jesus, right?

And you can, it can really happen, you know?

It's like, you give your life to the Lord.

And the Bible says, back in 1 Corinthians 10, 26, for the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.

Everything here is God's, he owns it all.

And Haggai 2, verse 8 says, "'The silver is mine and the gold is mine, ' "'says the Lord of hosts.'" Meaning God says, I own everything there is on planet Earth.

That being the case, if you have anything, you're just holding on to God's goods, right?

You're simply a steward of everything that God has given you.

Everything you have, all the gold, all the silver, all the things you could acquire, but Even the talents of your mind and your body, everything you have is a gift from God.

And as we learn that, we will learn to be actually happier people.

Houses and grounds, pictures and furniture, garments and luxuries do not belong to us.

We have only a grant of those things that are necessary for health and life.

Our temporal blessings are given us in trust to prove whether we can be entrusted with eternal riches.

If we endure the proving of God, then we shall receive that purchased possession, which is to be our own.

Ultimately, those are the riches we look for.

And you know, there are over 2, 300 verses in the Bible on money and finances, nearly 8% of the Bible is on this subject.

So if nearly 8% of the Bible has to do with our finances, the things we deal with in the temporal world, this is an important issue.

Something that we think about vaguely, but we don't typically think so much of it from a biblical perspective.

We just kind of go about life a lot of the time.

But the first thing we're looking at this morning is number 1, that we are stewards of God's blessings.

We are stewards, that we're just taking care of the things that God has entrusted to us.

The second things we're gonna see from scriptures is that we are to commit and submit our finances to him.

So shall thou dwell in the land and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in him and he shall bring it to pass.

And there's gonna come a time where really we have to be fully committed to him.

Now we should be fully committed to him now, I don't mean that.

Our hearts should be given to him just now, but in this world, we work, we labor, we do all that we can, but the time comes where all our labor is going to be, we're gonna have to let it go.

And that doesn't mean we don't prepare for the future because that time is coming.

I mean, you don't say, well, Jesus is coming, I just won't go to work today, right?

I mean, we have to do the best, we are to occupy till we come, but if we commit our ways to the Lord, if we put Him first, He will direct us, He will show us what to do with our finances.

You know, 1 of the big things people invest in in life, 1 of the biggest is their house, and that, it's a good thing, because having a house paid off, That's a nice thing to have, but the time is coming when we even have to let go of our house, our country property, whatever it is, the time comes where we have to give it all up.

And we are told this, this is very heavy.

We are told we should be praying that God will tell us when to let go of our house.

We are told if we do not pray this prayer, he will not show us.

And then our house will become like a mountain crushing us.

And I don't think that means your house will fall on top of you, but what it means is that you'll get to the point where you will realize I held onto the things of this world until it was too late.

And I'm not saying that day is here today.
