Hidden Manna

It is good to see you all here for our third Army Bible Camp.

Let me ask you how many of you right now are experiencing an excitement and anticipation regarding the outcome of these meetings.

We've come here tonight to learn how to, how to study the word of God.

We've come this week to learn how to study the Word of God.

We've come this week to learn how to study the Word of God and by God's grace you will be equipped with the tools you need to be able to break this book down for yourself, amen?

So I want to invite you to pray with me as we begin our opening message tonight.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for speaking to us in so many different ways.

And now Lord, we're asking that your presence would come and tabernacle with us in a mighty way.

Show us wonderful things out of thy word.

And Father, I ask a special prayer that you would hide me behind your cross.

I've entitled the message tonight, the hidden manna.

I'd like for you to open your Bibles to the book of Revelation chapter 2.

The Bible says there in verse 17, he that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the what?

And I will give him a white stone and in the stone a new name written which no man knoweth saving he that receives it.

Have you ever read this verse and wondered, hidden manna, what is that?

Tonight we're going to discover what hidden manna is.

And we're going to begin by looking in the Old Testament because we want to find out what does God mean when he uses this word manna.

Go with me to the book of Deuteronomy chapter 8.

The Bible says there, and he humbled thee and suffered thee to hunger and fed thee with what?

How many of you remember how God fed the children of Israel in the wilderness with manna?

He rained manna down from heaven and He fed the children of Israel in this manna.

And notice what the Bible says why he did this.

It says, "...he suffered thee to hunger and fed thee with manna which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know, that he might make thee know that man does not live by what Bread alone, but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

So according to this verse, the manna is to signify what?

And so when the Bible makes a reference to hidden manna, what we begin to understand is that the word of God is not so easily understood on the surface, is it?

In other words, have you ever read a verse and you've may have read that verse a thousand times and then someone else comes along and says, oh man, look what I discovered in this verse and you go, wait a minute.

I didn't see See if you can't see something what is it it's hidden Have you ever wondered how is it that this person was able to get this out the verse and I couldn't see it man it was hidden to me.

Isn't it beautiful that God promises to give us hidden manna?

How many of you would like to receive hidden manna?

I want you to notice something else about the manna.

The Bible tells us here, and it came to pass that at even, the quails came up and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew laid round about the host.

And when the dew that was laid was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing as small as the hoarfrost on the ground.

The manna God had laid out, God had rained down from heaven And who can tell me what did this manna taste like who remembers?

God says I'm going to make a promise to you.

Beloved, do you know that the Word of God is to be sweet to your taste.

When you begin to I don't know if you've ever had the experience you're sitting down and you're you're looking through the word and suddenly you make a discovery.

Have you ever felt the sweetness of making a discovery in the Word of God?

Something that you didn't know before that when you saw you go, oh man, this is sweetness.

In fact, I want you to notice with me Psalm 119.

Psalm 119, beginning with verse 97, the Bible tells us here, "'Oh, how I love thy law!

"'Thou, through thy commandments, "'has made me wiser than mine enemies, "'for they are ever with me.

"'I have more understanding than all my teachers, "'for thy testimonies are my meditation.

"'I understand more than the ancients, "'because I keep thy precepts.

"'I have refrained my feet from every evil way that I might keep thy word.

I have not departed from thy judgments, for thou has taught me how sweet are thy words unto my taste, yea sweeter than what honey to my mouth." It is God's desire to give you hidden manna.

It is God's desire to give you hidden manna.

It is God's desire to give you such a sweet experience with His word that you will never desire anything else.

Go with me to the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 2.

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery.
