And it's been a privilege to be here at Advent Hope.

I've been looked after on a highly different level here.

I've been really appreciative of the kindness, the warmth.

Thank you so much to Wade and mum for having me for lunch today.

And just to you guys, really for being here, and I trust that we'll have a good time as we look into God's words this afternoon.

You feel the energy is low in the room, the energy is low in the room, the energy is low, the energy is low, the energy is low.

So let's see how we go and then we'll take it from there.

Dear Lord, we thank you for your love, your kindness, your mercy.

Dear Lord, you know, I needed a vitamin D here.

And just thank you so much for the time that I'm having with these precious souls.

I'm praying to you Lord that you will bless every single 1 of them.

You know the plans that you have for their life.

Every tear that they've ever cried, you've kept it in a bottle.

You know every single hair that's on their head.

I'm asking dear Lord that you will come into the room even now and that you will speak to every single heart here individually and in a transformative way.

May we not leave this place the same way that we came in.

These things we pray in Jesus' name, amen.

March 2020, I was evangelism, no, no, no, outreach coordinator for peace.

I was doing a pharmacy part-time and COVID struck, COVID struck April, April.

And so I don't know what, I don't know what happened here.

But, but I was, as in, what does I don't know what happened here though, as in, I wasn't, I'm not aware of the dynamics here, But in the UK, a load of people got put on furlough.

The cases at my local hospital that I was working at, the ICU cases rocketed up.

They said, Sam, can you come and help us, please?

And then the conference phoned me just because of the budget situations.

Sam, can you just continue working at the hospital, please?

So there were different dynamics that were taking place.

And as I was working at the hospital, sometimes you feel like you've got your plans for life.

Like I felt like, okay, I'm transitioning into, I'm transitioning maybe into perhaps working for the conference.

And then God kind of transitions you back out of that.

And you're just seeing how God opens up doors.

And when I was working on the COVID ward, critical care, crazy time.

I don't know if anybody worked in IT during COVID.

At 1 stage, Wolverhampton had 1 of the highest rates in the country where I live.

So people would come in and there was just a lot of death really.

When someone got off the ward, off the ITU ward, put it this way, everybody would cheer as the patient was leaving.

And so when you start seeing that, seeing what the country was going through, seeing people lose jobs, seeing Adventists struggling, Adventist people catching COVID and passing away.

In my home city, many of the elders, well a number, I'm not going to say many, a number of the elderly members passed away from Covid and just seeing how that affected the church family and I feel like we haven't even had a breather, like we're just stepping out of things and the next thing you know war in Ukraine.

Got a message on my church whatsapp this morning logged in off the wi-fi and message come through Ukrainian SDAs looking for places to stay, kind of SDA in England, hook up a mother and children.

So they're trying to, and it's good to see that the church is trying to put people together.

But in moments like those, in times like those, where you realize that you're living, not in a movie, but you're living in Matthew chapter 24 and you recognize that things are going to get worse and worse and worse and that these are the beginning of sorrows you need a good reason for Job, Job was hit by all sorts.

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the eldest brother's house.

And there came a messenger unto Job and said, the oxen were ploughing and the ashes feeding beside them.

And the Sabians fell upon them and took them away.

Yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword.

And I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, the fire of God, it's crazy, crazy.

The fire of god is fallen from heaven and I've burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them and I only and escaped alone to tell thee while he was yet speaking, there came and also another and said, the Chaldeans made up 3 bands and fell upon the camels and I've carried them away, yea, and slain the servants to the edge of the sword and I only and escaped alone to tell thee why they were yet speaking.

There came also another and said thy sons and my daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house.

And behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness and smote the 4 corners of the house and it fell upon the young men and they are dead and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Verse 20, Then Job arose and rent his mantle and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshiped." Many times in Adventist circles, we focused on the how of worship.

But as we're moving through Matthew chapter 24, I'm suggesting to us that we're gonna need a good why.

If you figure out your why, I think it makes the how a lot easier.

Why you're coming to university affects how you conduct yourself whilst you're at university?

Why you get into a relationship affects how you conduct yourself once you're in there?
