Wounded Heart: Anger Danger

1 of the things I think that we need to talk about while I'm here, not because I'm here hopefully, but now that I am here, is anger.

I hope that you're not angry at me, of course.

But I think that anger is a fairly big issue that people struggle with.

I think they especially struggle with it, I don't know.

I don't think people sometimes understand that they're angry and they don't understand what to do about being angry.

And when I was your age, I was very angry, all right?

I didn't really understand why I was angry.

And I didn't understand that I was angry, and I didn't understand how damaging that could be to someone's heart.

We're talking about the heart, and we're talking about getting a new heart.

But 1 of the things we have to understand when we try and get a new heart is the state of our heart.

We have to recognize we need a new heart.

We have to recognize that we need a transplant of a heart, which is what we're gonna talk about on Friday night.

And we have a person that's going to be a master's prepared nurse here tonight.

And there's a bunch of people here probably in nursing school.

All right, you guys are like very noncommittal.

And you have to learn how to lead people how to sign consent forms, right?

But before you have any procedure, either they or someone that's in charge of them has to sign that consent form so they know they need a new heart, or they know they need this procedure.

And God doesn't give us a new heart unless we want 1, unless we know we need 1.

And 1 of the things that I think that people struggle with in terms of their relationship, sometimes with their parents, sometimes with God, sometimes with 1 another, is anger.

Some of you are, or some of your friends, not you here, I'm sure you're all saints because you're here at worship.

And it's not 1 of those ones you had to come to.

But some people make decisions about who they're dating out of anger.

Some people make decisions about what they're gonna do in terms of their major because of anger.

Some people, well, I know this because I was 1 of those.

Now, I'm not against psychology, but the reason I loved it was because I was trying to find answers when I was your age to the basic questions of life without using the Bible or the spirit of prophecy because I was angry at people that used the Bible and the spirit of prophecy.

So I wanted to figure out how everything could be done without the Bible and the spirit of prophecy.

But you may not have discovered that yet.

I just read philosophy, and I wrote about philosophy, and I thought I was a philosopher.

I'm embarrassed when I read the papers I wrote back then today.

I look at those papers and I go, idiot.com, lstupido.org.

I wanted to have a different world view, and I wanted to be able to defend it.

So anger is a dangerous thing, as we can See on our nice little graphic there?

It's kind of like 1 of these lights on your car.

And so when you're getting angry, this is like a check engine light type thing.

So we, last night I noticed that there was not a huge proportion of you that brought your Bible.

You have heard that it was said to those of old, you shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the...

But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother...

Let me tell you the reason I have to be angry.

Anyway, shall be in danger of the judgment.

Whoever says to his brother, Rachah, shall be in danger of the council, but whoever says, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

So there is anger that's okay if you have a cause.

Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the--" you see those windows right there?

So if you're angry today, by the time those windows turn dark, no more anger.

How many of you think you're going to get rid of all your anger by the time the sun goes down.

But that's the biblical type of anger that's okay.

It's a very limited, focused, tiny bit of anger.

How many of you are angry that You can't have more anger than that.

You'd like to have more anger a little bit longer.

You must speak the truth of love, Ephesians says.

Beloved, don't avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath.
