You know, we've spent the last several weeks examining the daily activities in the sanctuary.

The daily activities we saw is how God teaches Israel how to deal with the problem of sin.

And in straightforward imagery, he shares with us that he is going to bring a substitute to take the death penalty for us.

How the sinner, covered in sin, would then, I'm going to use our lamb again, our poor lamb, would then place his hand, moving the sin from the sinner, symbolically transferring it to the lamb, representing Christ.

Then killing the lamb, the lamb's life was taken and the blood drained out, drained that sin, transferring it to the blood.

We know then that the priest would take that into the sanctuary.

It was God was trying to communicate to Israel through this activity that took place every day that the sinner would be removed from the sin.

The sin and the sinner would be separated.

I say that almost every time we start because it is such good news for us, friends.

The record of it would be placed in the sanctuary.

That record of that sin was the word pardoned written in red.

However, this necessitated a cleansing of the sanctuary of that record of sin.

On that day, the sanctuary was cleansed from the record of sin.

Sin was done away with and placed on the goat that represented Satan, the scapegoat.

It's a beautiful overview to build your faith and understanding in listening.

God wanted us to understand in the end that sins that he led God, that led God's people to commit would be blamed on the instigator of those sins.

So clean, in fact, we won't even remember those sins, amen?

That day represented the day of judgment.

Israel looked forward to that day because they recognized it was the day that they would be cleansed.

They would be, it would be fully removed.

At the very end of that study, we discovered that the day of atonement was a shadow for an actual event when judgment would take place.

The Bible talks about it, and we will explore that in our church service today.

But now we are gonna look at the book of Daniel, which we will provide a backdrop to, that we'll continue to build on in later series.

The setting for the book of Daniel is in the city of Babylon, a pagan nation.

Babylon conquers Israel, the Israel nation, because of, God allows it, because of their apostasy.

Israel had long since abandoned God and they were living their own life their own way.

Sounds like much of the world today, huh?

God kept sending them prophets to warn of their actions, but they ignored those prophets.

We remember that God respects the freedom of choice.

At the time, King Nebuchadnezzar, also known as, at that time, General Nebuchadnezzar, because his father was currently king, he comes to with his Babylonian forces and lays siege to Jerusalem, takes Jerusalem and many of its inhabitants captive.

1 of those captives was a young Israelite boy named, any guesses?

He was probably, we believe, probably around 17 years old.

My son, my older son's 18, my younger son's 16.

I know this is a surprise, but Daniel wrote the book of Daniel.

It's the centerpiece book on the heavenly sanctuary.

More specifically on the judgment in the sanctuary message.

In chapter 2, which I hope many of you read recently, We're gonna examine it closely today.

It demonstrates that God knows the future.

We're going to take a look at history before history was history.

We're gonna look at history before history was history.

We're going to see that history is going somewhere.

We're going to see how human history on this earth will come to an end.

We're going to examine nations that came into contact with God's covenant-keeping people.

The book of Daniel, chapter 2, begins with Nebuchadnezzar, the heathen king, having a dream.

We'll continue to see that God is truly loved.

And more specifically, that God is interested in all the people of the world, not just the people of Israel.

Now as we go through this, we're gonna have to move pretty quick this morning and for church.

So since we're spending a lot of time in Daniel 2, I would recommend — I have a lot of the texts on the screen, but not all of them.

I'd recommend having your Bibles next to you open to Daniel 2.

And I will take short pauses occasionally to let you look them up, but sometimes we'll just have to keep moving.

I would also recommend if you're not gonna have time to look it up and it's not in your study guide, write it to the side, write that text to the side so you can look it up later.

Don't take what I say, take what the Bible says, amen?

Okay, number 1, Why did God give the Babylonian king this dream?

Daniel 2, 28, but there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in latter days." You see, King Nebuchadnezzar was very concerned about his nation.

He had built this enormous kingdom, this enormous empire.

He wanted that empire that he had built to last forever.

I'm going to mention it later, but when they later — we later historically removed or archeologically went into Babylon, found Babylon, all the bricks, do you know what they were stamped with?

He was concerned about what he had built.

He goes to sleep and God gives him a dream that seems important.

When he woke from his dream, he couldn't Remember it.

How many of you have ever had a dream that really impressed you and you woke up and you knew it was something, but you can't remember?

I mean, you've also been there too where you Have a dream and you wake up and you're mad at someone, they didn't do anything, but you had a dream and you were mad at them in the dream, right?

Wouldn't it be nice if you had a team of people just waiting in the wings to come help you with understanding what that meant?

Number 2, when the king's counselors were unable to reveal and interpret the dream, what was Nebuchadnezzar's command?

Daniel 2, verse 12, for this cause the king was angry and very furious and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

You see, Nebuchadnezzar seemed to have some anger issues, right?

I also feel like that Nebuchadnezzar is probably 1 of the more interesting characters in the Bible.

When he would conquer a nation, he would gather the young, educated, and intelligent individuals from that nation, bring them to Babylon, and train them, if you will, in the University of Babylon, and then integrate them into his cabinet, his wise men.

He was essentially drawing from the intellectual resources of the nations that he conquered around him in the then known world.

So he brings in this super intelligent group, these individuals that the scripture tells us are sorcerers, Chaldeans, astrologers, and magicians.

He brings the heads of these groups in and says the craziest thing.
