Half of you are sitting here like, OK, good, good, because I need to know the 1.

He or she may be sitting beside me, I just need to know if they're the 1.

So if we could just get this cleared away, in an hour from now you will know and you will leave and either together or apart.

We're going to springboard off of that, but how we think about romance plays a role into how we understand God's calling for our life in other aspects as well.

So we're going to play off of that a bit.

We're going to start, as what we've been doing in this seminar.

We've started with the same quote, exact same quote.

You've been here for the last 3, you're gonna hear it again for the fourth.

Preachers, they're taught, they may not be good at it, but preachers are taught to be able to reduce their sermon, their message into a single simple sentence, right?

I know not every preacher does and sometimes you're like, whoo, we could handle a single simple sentence there brother sister, but here is this It's 2 sentences, but we you can you can disregard the second if you're all Worked up about it being 2 sentences every son and daughter of God is called to be a Missionary That's your calling.

God made you in his image, in his likeness.

You've got so much potential and now he's called you to be his ambassador.

Speaking of the 1, if they don't reflect this, they are not the 1.

Tell them you're done right after this meeting, call them up, text them, don't text them, that's chintzy guys, don't text them.

Unless you're married to them in which you say we got to have a conversation every son and daughter of God is called to be a missionary that's the calling of those who follow Jesus doesn't mean that you have to be a teacher, a pastor, or a medical missionary.

It does mean you have to be a missionary, whatever capacity, whatever school, community, God's put you in.

We'll go through our 5 points We do it every we've done it every single session, but we start with a story a missionary story These are I picked my top favorite, you no doubt have your favorite missionaries of yesterday This is 1 of my top 5 favorites.

It's the story of Jim and Elizabeth Elliott.

Wheaton College, Jim Elliott was roommates with Elizabeth's brother.

Jim sat next to her in class for studying Greek and it made her heart jump.

Every time he would ask her, where are we today?

She loved it that he didn't know where they were and that she could help him find where they were in their textbook.

Elizabeth says she always admired how he loved God.

Both were involved in evangelism in downtown Chicago.

Both were involved in evangelism downtown Chicago.

They'd ride the train together with other students.

As you read and hear about his life, He's kind of a little bit of a no-nonsense kind of personality kind of quirky fun-loving but She never knew that he liked her she assumed that he did not So when he asked her out on a date, she became so nervous that he was coming after her as a charity case.

Like somebody put him up to take poor Elizabeth out for a date, that she cancelled on him.

She accepted and then called and canceled.

But he persisted and followed through, obviously.

And so they head down to the Ecuadorian highlands to some native groups of people, unreached, and they have to start from scratch.

They set up camp, and they start to reach these people.

But they have to learn language, bless you.

They make some initial contacts, bleeds into some more contacts, and they're feeling like things are going rather well.

They're dropping little gifts off to these villages.

When they go out and they wait for them along the river they wait for days out there they waited for them and and finally they come with some women walk out of the jungle, Jim and Pete, 1 of the other missionaries, jumped into the river, waded across to meet them.

And then they hear this terrifying cry behind them.

They turn and the warriors are coming at them with their spears the story as it's told is that Jim put his hand into his pocket where he had a pistol and then chose to take his hand out to leave the pistol there that he would rather die than kill someone who didn't know Jesus yet.

They died on a remote stretch of beach, graveled beach, along a river in Ecuador.

2 years later, Elizabeth, her daughter Valerie, Rachel Saint, that was Nate Saint's sister, who Nate Saint was 1 who also died.

They moved to the same area, they came back and they began to evangelize the same people that had murdered their husbands and brothers.

And in fact, the very man who had murdered Nate Saint was baptized.

Of course, Jim Elliott's most famous line is, he is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.

Steve Saint, Nate Saint's son, he was only 5 years old when his dad died.

He was part though of the team that left no room for bitterness and went back to reach the same people that had killed them.

Nate Saint, rather Steve Saint, begins to evangelize them now growing up, and he has the joy of baptizing members of the tribe that had killed his parents.

She's taken a year off from college to travel with Youth for Christ as a musician.

She spends a year away from her family sharing Jesus all over the world.

The day she comes home, they host a welcome home party.

All of her friends, her family are there.
