Okay, we've got some cool stuff to get through.

We're gonna wrap it all up, this whole conversation.

We're gonna try to make it super practical.

We're gonna start with a story, end with a story.

And my whole dream, my whole dream is that you walk out of here, and if we have time, we'll even do some discussion.

But my whole dream is that we leave out of here together understanding that even when we don't understand, we can still be mobilized.

Like if we're waiting to wrap our minds around everything and figure out all of our doubts and all of our questions, that time will never come.

That's actually a quote from inspiration.

So we've got to, we've got to come to the realization that even when we don't understand and sometimes It's in the thick of understanding.

Listen every last 1 of you that just raise your hand if you don't have kids you don't have kids some of you are like can I wish no you don't have kids every 1 of you that okay from my perspective when I didn't have kids I was the world's foremost expert on how you should raise your kids, right?

What's the, then 1 day, you don't even have to have a license.

I have to buy a permit to get a Christmas tree.

But I can bring a baby into this world like no permits.

You can't drive, you can't own a gun, you can't...

Well, you can't carry a gun without a permit, but...

So, you take this baby home and in the thick of it, you realize the calling and the responsibilities.

You can prepare, but it's nothing like the action.

And That's a little bit, a little taste, a little reflection of what it's, God's like, you've got to step into it.

And I will, I'm not gonna tell you how to finish the work.

I'm gonna tell you, I told you how to start the work.

And when you start the work, I'll tell you the next step.

All right, we're getting a little preachy there.

Father in heaven, this morning we're wrapping up seminars.

We pray through the power of the third person of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit, that you would have your unfettered, unhindered way to our lives.

We want to leave changed and then the world will be changed because we have met with you.

There's some things that we think we've surrendered.

There's some things we think we were ready to do.

We're starting every session with this line.

Every son and daughter of God is called to be a missionary Every son and every daughter is called to be a missionary.

Didn't say foreign missionary, it said missionary.

1 of my favorite stories as of late of missionaries.

Missionaries are some of the greatest biographies and stories to read.

These are men and women who gave all that they knew to give and they were real people like you and me, but here's 1.

Back in 1921, a missionary couple named David and Sivea Flood went with their two-year-old son from Sweden to the heart of Africa.

It was what is that was then called the Belgian Congo.

They met up with another young Scandinavian couple, the Eriksons, and the 4 of them sought God for direction.

In those days of much tenderness and devotion and sacrifice, they felt led to move out from the main mission station and take the gospel to remote area.

You read the rest of the details of that story, there was no outward indication.

They just prayed about it, saw the opportunity, said, that seems like where we ought to go, then and they went.

And that's that's how it is often without the extraordinary.

The village chief would not let them in his village.

That's a clear sign that you ought not to be there.

In fact, the chief said, you can't even live right around the village, but there is a place we'll let you set up and build a little hut up there.

They prayed for a spiritual breakthrough, but there was none.

The only contact with the villagers was a young boy who was allowed to sell them chickens and eggs twice a week.

If that's you and me, we're like, okay, this is not where God wants us to be, right?

So they have flood was a tiny woman of only 4 feet, 8 inches tall.

But if she decided, if this was the only person that she was allowed to talk to, she was going to do her best to share Jesus.

There was discouragements, things like malaria and other sicknesses struck all of them.

The Erickson's decided they had had enough.

They left and returned to the Central Mission Station.

David and Sivea Flood, though, remained there alone.

Then Sivea found herself pregnant in the middle of the primitive wilderness.

When the time came to give birth, the village chief softened enough to allow a midwife to help her.

Siveya Flood was already weak from bouts of malaria.

The birth process was a heavy blow to her stamina.

Inside David Flood, something snapped in this moment.

He dug a crude grave, buried his 27-year-old wife, then took, They had a couple of other children along with Anna, the baby, took them back down the mission, to the mission station, left his newborn daughter with the Eriksons.

He snarled, I'm going back to Sweden, I've lost my wife, and I obviously can't care for this baby, God has ruined my life.

Then with that he headed to the port, rejecting everything he had felt called to earlier.

Within 8 months, both the Eriksons were stricken with mysterious malady.

The baby was then turned over to an American set of missionaries, who adjusted her Swedish name to Aji, and eventually brought her back to the United States at age 3.

This family loved the little girl and was afraid that if they returned to Africa, some legal obstacle might separate her from them, so they decided to stay at home in their home country and switch from missionary work to pastoral work.

So she grew up now in South Dakota in a pastor's family.

As a young woman, she attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis.

She met and married a young man named Dewey Hurst.
