<p>Sibling Rivalry is a real thing! It’s not always easy to get along with your brother or sister. The story we are learning about this week is about two brothers, twins actually, who were very opposite. They had different likes and dislikes and different priorities. Unfortunately, the family didn’t trust God or follow His directions and it led to them all being very sad.</p>

Hello friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together, praising him. We don't know who wrote this song, save Your Like a Shepherd, lead us. But it was published in several hymns, unsigned and other hymnals with no credit given. Some said it was Henry Francis late, but that's not confirmed. We do know that the tune was composed by William Bradbury and I'll tell you a little more about him next time. But for now, let's learn this hyn together, My pleasant pastors are, and Volvo, Jesus, we, we Welcome back to Teach Me to Pray. We are focusing on prayer this quarter and I want to look at different prayers in the Bible. So we're gonna first start with Second Chronicles, chapter 14, verse 11. You know the Bible records many, many prayers and there were so many to choose from, but I picked six of them that we're gonna go through each one every single day this week. So let's look at Second Chronicles chapter 14, verse 11. Now, last week I encouraged you to get a prayer journal, and if you have that prayer journal, go ahead and on one day, let's write down second Chronicles 1411. That way you can keep track of and know where we are going to be looking in our bibles. So today's day, let's write down the Bible verse second Les chapter 14, verse 11. Now if you don't have a a Bible prayer journal yet, that's okay. You can either get one, you can get one from the store. They have some that are very, very inexpensive or or you can make your own. If you don't wanna get one from the store, just take some paper, fold it in half and staple it, making a little booklet and you can have your name on there. And last week we talked about picking five people to pray for. So I want you to write down those five people that you wanna choose to pray for who need Jesus in their heart and in their life. Something maybe they're struggling with health issues or family issues, or maybe work problems or not trusting God and they need a spiritual renewal. Pick five people that you wanna pray for and write those down and pray for them every single day. So let's go to Second Chronicles, chapter 14, verse 11. Here's what it says. And Asa cried out to the Lord his God and said, Lord, it is nothing for you to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Help us, oh Lord our God, for we rest on you. And in your name, we go against this multitude. Oh Lord, you are our God. Do not let man prevail against you. Do you notice that this is Asa and he's talking to God like God is his friend? That's what prayer is. Prayer is talking to God like he's your friend telling him what's going on, asking him for help and trusting him to help. So what was happening was there was a group from Ethiopia, Zara, the Ethiopian, he brought over a million men, 300 chariots, and he came and he was coming to fight against Asa. And so Asa took troops and he went out to battle. But he also knew that he needed to trust God and ask God for help. And you know what? Verse 12 says that the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah and the Ethiopians fled. So they were able to overcome because they called out to God. Boys and girls, when we call out to God when we're in trouble, he hears us. I wanna encourage you to call out to him today. Hey you boys and girls, we have an exciting week. It is a continuing story about some deception that happened. Do you know what deception is? It's trickery or someone pretending to be someone else in order to get something that he really wants? Ooh, that doesn't sound very good, does it? No. But we are going to learn about it. And what I really like about the Bible is that the Bible tells us these stories and gives us these stories to let us know that the people were just like you and me. They had the same struggles, they had the same temptations. They did things that were wrong just like we do today. But does God still love and forgive us? Yes. And you know what's even more exciting? He still uses us. He never gives up on us. He is always there to forgive and to help us to do what is right. So before we get started, let's bow our heads in prayer. Lord, thank you for your word, the Bible that we get to read and understand what you want us to learn today. Help us to to hear your voice. Help us to be focused during this time of spending it with you and learning what you want us to learn today. We love you Lord. Amen. We have been learning about Abraham, right? Do you remember Abraham and how he had a son, Isaac, he had another son, Ishma first, and then many years later, God kept his promise and Abraham had Isaac. Well, Isaac has grown up and Abraham wanted to find a wife for Isaac. And so he sent his servant Eler to go back to the land where Abraham had left, and to find a wife from his family and to bring her back to Mary Isaac. And that's what happened. Who did Ellie Iser find? Her name was Rebecca. And Rebecca came and moved to where Abraham and Isaac were living, and she married Isaac when all of this happened. Abraham was about 140 years old. That's pretty old, isn't it? Abraham had learned to trust God, hadn't he? All of those experiences with Hagar and Ishma, and then you have the story of lot and all of these ways that Abraham relied on God, it strengthened his faith. Did you know that the more that we rely on God, the more that we trust him, the bigger our faith grows? Yeah, it's pretty exciting. Even though Abraham still lived in intense, even though he still only owned just a tiny bit of land where he had buried Sarah, his wife, when she died, he was happy. He was willing to wait for the wonderful home that he knew he would have someday when Jesus comes again, God had given him Isaac and Abraham knew that God would keep the rest of his promise. I want you to look up with me in Hebrews chapter 11 verses eight through 10. So let's go to Hebrews that's in the New Testament. Hebrews, I have my Bible right in front of me. I'm gonna look this up right along with you. So we're gonna look at Hebrews. You'll probably hear my pages turning Hebrews all the way in the back. I see first and second Thessalonians, first and second Timothy. Tis FileMan Hebrews. Here we go. Hebrews chapter 11. So open up to Hebrews chapter 11. Those are those big numbers. And once you find chapter 11, then we're gonna look down, look under that for those little numbers. For verse eight, we're gonna read verses eight through 10, which means we're reading verse eight and verse nine and verse 10. We're gonna read those three verses. If you need more time, that's okay. Just press pause and then when you're ready, you can press play again. Or if you're ready, let's just read this together. Hebrews chapter 11 verses eight through 10. By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out not knowing where he was going. By faith, he dwell in the land of promise, as in a foreign country dwelling in 10 with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise for he waited for the city, which has foundations whose builder and maker is God. I love verse 10 where it says that he waited for the city which has foundations whose builder and maker is God. Do you think that's talking about an earthly city? No, it's not. It's talking about a heavenly city. Have you ever wondered what happened to Ishma? Well, we're gonna kind of talk about that today. Ishma was Hagar's son. Remember how Abraham and Sarah, they were getting impatient. God had not given them a son yet. And so Sarah had this bright idea, Hey, why don't you take my servant to be your other wife and then you can have a baby with her, and then she, then her baby will be like mine. Yeah, that's what happened. And that didn't go very well. Finally, it got so bad, all the kind of fighting and bickering in the family that Abraham had to send Hagar an Ishmael away. Well, as Ishmael got older, he became a rich desert chief, and he moved from place to place. His wives who he married, his wives worshiped idols. They were jealous and they quarreled a lot. Ishma was not happy, his home was not happy. Do you know why? Because it didn't have Jesus in it. Boys and girls, when we have Jesus in our home, he gives us happiness. He gives us peace. He helps us to get along. But when we don't follow Jesus, we have sadness and quarreling and bickering. Ugh, it's very, very sad. Abraham had taught Ishma to love and worship God and to obey his law. But Ishmail had a choice to make and he chose to disobey instead. But does that mean that God stopped caring for him? No. God is sad when we make wrong choices because he knows that it hurts us, but he still keeps loving and wanting to help us. Isn't that wonderful? He doesn't give up on us. Well, many years went by and when Ishmail became old, he was sorry for the wrong choices he had made. Of course, God forgave him and once more He loved and worshiped God. He no longer hated Isaac. Oh, that made Abraham so happy. Abraham lived 35 more years after Isaac married Rebecca. And when he died, Ishmail came back and Isaac was there and they both came together and they buried their father together. Wow. They's amazing. They were able to come together and to find common ground and to get along Once again. Are you glad that the Bible tells us about these real people who were just like us? They made choices, some good, some bad. Sometimes they did what was right and sometimes they messed up. But always, always, we can see how patient and how loving God is. And we also see that believing Satan's lies never bring us happiness. In the end, I have an aunt who I love very, very much. And she was raised in an Adventist home in a Christian home. She went to Christian schools, she went to Christian college. But as time went by, she started to make choices that didn't go along with God or his plan. And pretty soon she was living life her own way. And when I was a child, I remember thinking about her and wishing that she could love Jesus and that she could find happiness in Jesus. So I started praying and I prayed and I prayed and I prayed and I prayed. But you know what? It didn't feel like anything was happening, but God was using those prayers because many, many, many years later, she started coming back to God. She started reading her Bible. She started studying what the Bible says about Bible prophecy. And she started remembering what she had learned as a child. And you know what? Today she is one of the leaders in her church. She loves God. And she'll say, someone was praying for me. Wow. God is always there for us, boys and girls. He loves us and he is patient. He wants us to experience life, a life full of happiness. I wanna experience that, don't you? Well, let's choose to trust and follow him. Dear Lord, thank you for your love and your care. We ask that you'll come into our hearts. Help us to make the right choices that lead to happiness and lead to eternal life. We love you Lord. Amen. Our memory verse today is short but sweet. It's from Colossians chapter three, verse nine. It says, do not lie to one another. That's important, isn't it? Yes. And it's gonna play a big role in our lesson this week. Colossians three, nine. Do not, do not.
