Hello, friends. Welcome to the Seed Pod for kids. Thank you for joining me today as we spend time with our friend Jesus. Spending time with Jesus is the best way to start your day. Let's begin our time together, praising him. Another way to think of being redeemed is to think of adoption. There are a lot of stray dogs where we live. Many of them are skinny and hungry, and they have skin problems. They're lonely and scared. One of these dogs was that the post office in the parking lot looking for food. My husband and son were able to get close enough and bring him home. We gave him lots of good food, lots of love and attention, and adopted him or redeemed him. Now, he's our dog. We gave him a new name, junior, and he is so spoiled. He even sleeps on the couch because we adopted him or redeemed him. He's now living a happy, peaceful life. He doesn't have to wonder where his next meal is going to come from, and he never worries that we don't love him because we shower him with snuggles and love. That's what Jesus does for us. He adopts us into his family. When we're redeemed by him, we are his child. He takes care of us, and we don't have to worry or be afraid. Redeemed how? I love to broccoli reading through his redeemed child forever. Im, I know there's a crown that is waiting yonder for and at home. Redeem, Redeemed, redeemed, redeemed. Welcome to hide his word, a special program where we take a few minutes to hide God's word in our hearts. Let's go ahead and get started. We're learning the last verse in Psalm 23, the very last verse. Here's what it says. So listen carefully, Shirley, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Let's try saying that again. Shirley. Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Now, I want you to say it after me. I'll go slow. Shirley. Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Good job. Let's do that again. Shirley. Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Try to say it with me. Can you say it with me? Are you ready for that? Shirley? Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. This is such a beautiful verse. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me. When we follow God, there's gonna be mercy and goodness that come as the result of following God, not just once, not just twice, but all the days of my life. And there's a special promise that we can dwell in the house of the Lord forever when we get to heaven. It's not gonna be just for a few years or for a lifetime, like for 80 or 90 years, the lifetime of a person. No, it's going to be forever. We will never die again. And sometimes that thought just boggles my mind, but it's a beautiful promise. So let's say this verse one more time. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Good Job. Hi boys and girls. What happened last time? Do you remember? Were you listening? Captain Naiman had gone to the land of Israel to Samaria to be more precise, and he went to see the King of Israel. And the king was like, I can't heal you if you're leprosy. Your king is just trying to pick a fight with me. And then all of a sudden, then Elisha finds out and he tells the king, send name into me. Now, did Elisha go out to see him and to talk to him? No, he didn't. He sent his servant and told him, go wash in the river Jordan, seven times. How did Naiman feel about that? He was not happy at all. In fact, he was really mad. He left in a huff. Have you ever seen somebody get really mad and they just huff off or they stomp off? Oh, and they just, oh, yeah, that's how Naman was feeling. We're gonna find out what happened. Is he going to obey and go along with it? Or is he going to miss out on this chance, this opportunity to be healed? We're gonna find out in just a second, but first, let's pray. Lord, help us as we read to see things that maybe we've never seen before or to be blessed and that our hearts will be touched by the message that you have for us today. In Jesus' name, amen. As Captain Naman left Elisha's house, he was probably driving his chariot very, very fast. He felt insulted. He was angry. But when some of his servants came up beside him, he listened to what they said. Let's look at Second Kings, chapter five, verse 13. Second Kings is in the Old Testament, second kings. It's after first and second Samuel, and then First Kings and then Second Kings, or in Second Kings, chapter five. And then verse 13, second Kings chapter five, verse 13. Let's see what that says. And the servants came and spoke to him and said, my father, if the prophet had told you there's something great, would you not have done it? How much more than when He says to you, wash and be clean. Look at how the servant says, my Father. But is it his son? No, it's his servant. The servant said, my father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, wouldn't you do it? Why then when he says to you, or how much more, then when, when he says to you, wash and be clean. In other words, if he had have asked you to do a big thing, you would do it. But there's just this little thing. Why don't you just do it? I have a lot of admiration and a lot of respect for Naiman because I think he was a really, really kind man. And the reason why I say that is because little maid, even though she had been taken away from her family, she lived with Captain Naiman and she felt really bad for the way that he, his life was because of his leprosy. And so she wanted to help him. And now here you have all of his servants. They're on this mission, and when he kind of throws this little temper tantrum, they're, they're like, wait, come on. Please, please do it. Why not just try it? It shows me that he, that his servants cared for him. They really loved him. In fact, he even calls him Father. Isn't that amazing? Well, it was true. If Elisha had asked him to do something huge, something big, something hard, he would've done it. And so he slowed down. He thought, and he thought, and then he decided, okay, I'll do it. So he turned around and headed toward the Jordan River. He couldn't possibly imagine that dipping seven times under the water could possibly make any difference. How could that heal him? It was a dirty river. But he would do it. He would do it anyway. And you know what he did? While the servants stood on the riverbank watching, they must have been almost holding their breath and counting. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6 times when their captain came back up from that dip, nothing had changed. There were still those spots. The leprosy was still there. Then came the seventh time. And you know what? He was healed. Yes, he was healed. Just like Elisha had said seven times. Oh, he was right. He was healed. The leprosy was gone. Look at verse 14. So he went down and dipped seven times in majority, according to the saying of the man of God. And his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. I love how it says his flesh was restored as a little child. I look at my skin and there's little spots that happen when you get older and it's not quite, as you know, tight as it used to be. There's, there's some wrinkles. Not like my little niece. She is about three years old, and her skin is just so soft and so perfect, and no wrinkles and no scars. She's just, oh, it's so nice. Captain Neiman's skin was like a little child. He was healed. He had amazing skin. Now, can you just hear the shouts of joy? Can you hear and see the, the enthusiasm, the excitement? Can you see the smile on Neiman's face? As he comes out of that water, he dries himself and gets dressed. The servants who had been brave enough to ask him to change his mind must have been especially happy, just couldn't stop grinning, couldn't stop smiling. Now, captain Naiman headed back to Samaria. He didn't go to the palace. Nope. He didn't wanna go back and see the King of Israel. He went straight to Elisha's house. The king of Syria had sent a large gift for the King of Israel if he would heal Naiman. But now the captain wanted that gift to go to Elisha because he saw Elisha as the one who had healed him. But was it Elisha who had healed him? No. It was God who had healed him. Did Naiman think that there was some kind of magic in that water in the Jordan River? No. Have you ever had someone do something really nice to you and you wanted to give them a gift as a thank you? That's how Captain Naman was feeling. He wanted to give Elisha a thank you gift. We have mission groups that come out here. They take time off of work, they take time off of school. They come out and they help us with different projects, work projects. They help us with different programs that we put on like health programs or kids programs. And as they come out, as they work with us, we get to be really good friends and they do so much. And they really help us with our mission here on the Navajo Nation. And so right before they leave, we always like to have a special gift as a thank you showing our appreciation for the work that they do. That's how Naiman was feeling. He wanted to give Elisha a thank you gift, but Elisha's gonna tell him something. Hmm, that he might not have really realized. But we'll find out more about that next time. Let's pray. Lord, help us to encourage those around us to look to Jesus, to call to God and that he will hear and he will answer. Help us to have that relationship with God so that we can know and hear his voice and be able to help those around us. In Jesus name, amen. Train. Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is old, when he is old, he will not depart from his Proverbs 22. Train up a child, train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is old, when he is old, he will not from Roberts.
