Proclaiming the Three Angels’ Messages

What a privilege it is to be back again with you.

It was a privilege for 2 of our daughters, Emily and Catherine, to be part of your group for a number of years while they were here in Loma Linda.

And we had the opportunity to visit this special group, although it was in a different location, in Burden Hall.

But what a tremendous opportunity to meet again today, and to see so many of you in this beautiful facility, the Centennial Complex.

And I'm delighted that the university has allowed you to use this beautiful facility.

You know, Loma Linda is a very special place and many of us can review unusual moments in this place and those of you who live here on a permanent basis certainly have a close connection with this institution.

But this institution was started by God himself.

And we are grateful for what God has done through the university and the institution, the hospital, and so many aspects of its ancillary functions throughout this community and most importantly around the world.

This is a place where many of us went to school, and it was my privilege to go to the School of Public Health.

And most importantly, during that period of time, I met my beautiful wife in the foyer of the university church.

And that is the greatest achievement of my stay in Loma Linda.

And interestingly, Nancy is here with us today, as are our 3 precious daughters, their husbands and our 5 grandchildren.

And it's just a privilege to have them with us.

We're actually having a family reunion on my mother's side.

Don't have time to tell you all about that.

My mother passed away about 1 year ago, but her mother, my grandmother, whom I never met, and my grandfather emigrated from the old Austro-Hungarian Empire And both met each other in Chicago.

My grandmother went to evangelistic meetings in the Chicago German Church, became a Seventh-day Adventist.

And we are having a special reunion of the Newman family this weekend.

He is connected with our family in a very special way, my mother's youngest brother.

In any case, that's why the family is here.

But what a privilege it is to be family here in Advent Hope.

You know, the promise of Jesus soon coming.

Now there's another thing that is extremely interesting about today and most of you will not know it until I explain it to you.

Now for a lot of you in this room, 50 years is a really long time.

But to be honest, when you get to my age, I still think of myself as, quotes, young, but I'm not.

50 years doesn't really seem that long ago.

50 years next Sabbath, May 19, looking back to 1962, now that's ancient history.

A number of my schoolmates and I were baptized in the Tacoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church.

I have a very close friend who lives in this area.

He's with us this morning, and I'm gonna call him down here at the end of our service, because I'll tell you ahead of time, I'm gonna make an appeal.

I want all of us to reaffirm what we know to be Bible truth, what we know to be our unique message to a world that needs to hear about the Advent hope.

But my very special friend who has been a friend for 52 years since fifth grade.

John Evans Andrews School in Tacoma Park.

He and his wife Randy live near Palm Springs and Jigs sent me a message about a year ago and he said, wouldn't it be interesting if we had a service that would commemorate something special about 50 years of being baptized.

So I took the opportunity to contact Angie, and Angie has opened the doors for any time I want to come to Advent Hope.

And we worked it out a number of months ago and here we are today.

And thank you, Ali, for that beautiful song that you sang for us also.

What a wonderful way to appeal to our heart.

I don't know when you were baptized and under what circumstances, but probably at that time when you were baptized, either at the service or just prior to the service, a list of biblical doctrines and beliefs were read to you.

And usually at the service, although today they kind of shorten it down, they don't read all of the fundamental beliefs or all 13 points or whatever it is, but somewhere along the line you had to make a commitment that yes, I believe in these things.

And if you'll reflect this morning on your experience about your baptism and what it meant, I want to appeal to you at the end of the service to recommit yourself again to these marvelous biblical truths that all point towards Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Creator, our Redeemer, our High Priest, and our soon-coming King.

We have some other individuals who are with us or will be with us.

I'm not sure exactly who will be here, but some who are friends from that era in Tacoma Park.

I think her husband Bill will be here also, and perhaps a few others who are part of that era.

I don't care whether you were baptized last week or 50 years ago or 60 or 70.

And it's pointing us to something cataclysmic in the future.

Now Nancy and I have the great privilege of visiting many of our brothers and sisters all over the world.

It's a tiring process, actually, and we are perpetually jet-lagged, I guess.

But I want to tell you, it is invigorating when we meet our church members everywhere on the face of this globe and we see that bright beautiful fire burning in their eyes and their lives.

The message that the Holy Scriptures brings bring to us and Christ's promise of the Advent hope.

2 weeks ago we were in Santo Domingo celebrating a wonderful Religious Liberty Festival.

Next Sabbath we will be in Argentina at the university, inaugurating their new church.

I want you to pray for the university in Plata, the special university, Plata University in Argentina.

2 weeks from now, I'll be in Johannesburg meeting with our church members, a very special meeting.

I want you to pray for South Africa and some of the challenges they face.

It goes on and on and on, but today, we're here in Loma Linda together to focus upon God's great message.

In fact, I want to tell you that we have been calling the church to revival and reformation.

It's not even a phrase that we cooked up in some committee, it's directly from the spirit of prophecy.

For we know that at the very end of time, God calls us to be revived and to be refreshed and to be renewed, to be reformed in Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Because God wants to prepare a people to proclaim the precious message that you committed yourself to, that I committed myself to 50 years ago when I was baptized.

That means that we need to follow the injunction of what God told Solomon just before the temple was to be especially dedicated.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, will pray, will seek my face or my word, will turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear, I will forgive, and I will heal.

And God is calling for us to humble ourselves as Seventh-day Adventists, to renew that experience of whether it was 50, 40, 20 years ago, last week.

Renew it, because I want to tell you something.

God intends for his people to preach the precious Advent messages from the books of Daniel and Revelation like never before.

Today is the time for the prophetic message that God has called the Seventh-day Adventist to preach.

The Seventh-day Adventist's prophetic understanding of those 2 books, Daniel and Revelation, hold together our theological framework.

In fact, I would like to suggest that they constitute the very DNA of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

We need to plead with the Lord for the presence of the Holy Spirit in this place to help us understand God's word, his mission for the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the place of powerful, heavenly-inspired preaching of prophetic messages.

Not only the preaching of it, but the living of it in each 1 of you.

I believe with all of my heart that Jesus is coming soon.

And we've been called at this hour to give those prophetic messages of Daniel and Revelation, to lift up Christ, His righteousness, His sanctuary message, which is all about His righteousness, and the beautiful Advent hope, the second coming of Jesus Christ.

We're living in those last days that have been predicted in scripture.

We look around us and we see the world disintegrating rapidly.

We hope all of you in California will continue to remain safe.

This is proverbially the place where all kinds of interesting things could happen.

In fact, governments cannot solve the problems of today.
