Unfriended: The Enemy’s Lies About Connection

Have you ever been unfriended on Facebook?

Maybe 1 day you noticed that your friend count dropped.

It's ruined your day because now you're wondering who unfriended me.

You might have even searched your list to see who it was and who is no longer there.

Only to discover that someone you thought you were close to quietly clicked on that little button that says unfriend.

How 1, 1 small click can produce such big feelings.

Just 1 click, but it changes everything about the relationship.

What happens on Facebook happens in real life too.

People get unfriended in real relationships every day.

Not with a button, but with distance, with silence, with hurt feelings that will never get resolved.

And behind it all, there is an enemy who loves to isolate God's people from 1 another.

To separate what God designed to stay connected.

And Satan knows that if he can unfriend us Emotionally, spiritually, or relationally, he weakens the church and wounds the heart.

My message today is entitled, Unfriended, The Enemy's Lie About Connection.

And we're going to uncover 3 ways, 3 strongholds that the enemy uses to unfriend us and how God heals and seeks to reconnect us.

So let's bow our heads together as we acknowledge him.

Father in heaven, we just want to pause to thank you for the way that you are so gracious to us.

Today, we've already experienced true worship.

We have been able, Lord, to sing together with angels and to glorify you together.

And now, Lord, we do continue our worship.

Now, our Worship to you is a tentative and eager heart and spirit to listen to your voice.

You know what it is that we need to hear today.

Whether you're an introvert or an extrovert, it really doesn't matter.

Everyone here, with no exception, all of us, we want real connection to know that we were known, accepted, and loved.

To be known, fully known, yet to be fully loved.

And simply put, we are made to connect and to be and to stay connected.

In fact, we're told that God created us as social beings.

God instilled within us a desire to know, to know 1 another, to know and be known and to connect and be a body, A living organism that moves together and loves 1 another.

And that's why Facebook became such a global phenomenon.

Created in 2004 by a dorm student named Mark.

And today, today, with Facebook users worldwide, numbering more than the population of China and India combined, and over 3 billion users.

When I saw that, I was like, there's Facebook users in Antarctica?

Its mission statement is, and I quote, to bring the world closer together.

He tapped into that deep human desire for connection and the rest is history.

And why is it that we're driven that way?

It's because it's an innate desire put there by God Himself to belong, to share, to be seen and heard.

And I don't have to expound on what that is, because we all have come to a place where He has tried to separate us, to isolate us, to distance us from 1 another.

He said he's a father of lies, of lies, which means that any evil and wicked and dark agenda that the enemy has is using lies.

You don't have what it takes to be a godly father.

Because we're all human beings in this room right now.
