Heaven’s Wardrobe

We will be talking about Heaven's wardrobe this morning.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank you so much for this Sabbath day.

What a blessing it is to just have a day set apart at the end of every week to commune with you, to remember you as our creator God and our recreator God.

Father, at this moment, we just ask that you would cleanse our hearts and our minds, remove the weights that we've been carrying around this week so that we can truly hear Your still small voice speaking to each of our hearts.

Father, I'm in desperate need of You this morning.

We are all in need of You, and so we pray for Your Holy Spirit to come and fill our hearts.

Father, I pray that we would behold him because we know that when we behold you, we will be changed by you.

And that is our sincere prayer from our humble hearts.

I like the audience participation this morning.

Context to this, we know the creation story.

Jesus created the world in 6 literal days, rested on a Sabbath, he created Adam, he told him to tend the garden, he created Eve, they performed the first beautiful perfect garden wedding in the Garden of Eden, and then we read in Genesis 225, the Bible reads, and they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Here we see they were naked, yet not ashamed.

But We know Adam and Eve were made in whose image?

Genesis 1, 27, so God created man in his own image.

In the image of God, he created him male and female.

Praise the Lord, we did not evolve from some monkey or mollusk, but from the very hand of God himself.

So if man was created in the image of God, can we say that If we ask how was God created or clothed then, we can figure out how man was clothed then as well.

And so, do you know the Bible speaks about that?

Psalms 104, we're looking at heaven's clothing this morning.

You are clothed with honor and majesty, who cover yourself with light as with a garment who stretch out the heavens like a curtain how is the Lord clothed with light as with a garment spirit of prophecy acknowledge this fact as well Praise the Lord for the spirit of prophecy, amen.

It only magnifies what's already in the Bible.

The sinless pair wore no artificial garments.

They were clothed with a covering of light and glory.

You guys got it, such as the angels wear.

A little bit deeper, what does this light represent?

This white robe of innocence was worn by our first parents when they were placed by God in holy Eden.

They lived in perfect conformity to the will of God.

All the strength of their affections was given to their Heavenly Father, a beautiful soft light, the light of God, enshrouded the holy pair.

This robe of light was a symbol of their spiritual garments of heavenly innocence.

What a beautiful picture, Adam and Eve clothed in a soft, beautiful light representing the pure innocence that they held there in the Garden of Eden.

But would they wear this robe forever, this garment of light?

We read just a few verses later, go back to Genesis.

Genesis chapter 3 and verse 7, a stark contrast to what we read earlier.

Then the eyes of them were both were opened and they knew that they were naked.

And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.

Here they were naked, and now they were ashamed.

They knew that they had disobeyed God's law and God's commandment and instantly that garment of light was taken away from them.

They were so ashamed that they had to run to the nearest fig tree and try to fashion some type of covering they needed to cover themselves.

So they grabbed some fig leaves, tried to make something to cover themselves because they had deliberately disobeyed God's law.

We know the definition of sin, 1 John 3, 4, sin is the transgression of the law.

Just 1 simple command, do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and they had eaten of it.

You know, the Hebrew word here for naked is actually different than the Hebrew word that we read earlier in Genesis 225.

In Genesis 3-7 the Hebrew word for naked is aram which has a connotation of deceit and cunningness as opposed to Genesis 225 which is aram and so in 6 short verses prior to this, Genesis 3, 1 through 6, the world was plunged into sin, and 6, 000 years later, we're still reeling in the results of the effects of sin.

We know Isaiah 47, verse 3, "'Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, "'yea, thy shame shall be seen.'" How many of you have small children, Or remember when you were a child, when you did something wrong, you know you're not supposed to do while your parents were away?

And when your parents came home, what did you do?

I would run in my room, cover myself with my blankets, pretend I'm sleeping.

And that's exactly what Adam and Eve did.

And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.

And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

They loved to take evening walks with Jesus, but this day was different.

They hid from their creator, from their maker, from their best friend, because they knew they had sinned and they were afraid.

That's why God hates sin, Isaiah 59, verse 2, we know that verse.

Your iniquities have separated you from your God.

And that's why God doesn't want us to have sin in us.

He wants an intimate relationship with each 1 of us.

But praise God when we sin, when we deliberately choose to disobey God, what is God's response?

Praise God for Genesis 3 verse 9, then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, where are you?

This is the first beautiful picture we see of our Savior after the fall.

He is going out and looking for Adam and Eve in the garden and he's asking, where are you?

And he's asking that same question to us today.

When we sin, he goes out and looks for us.

Just like the shepherd leaving the 99 or that woman with 1 last coin among the 10, he goes out and takes the initiative.

He takes the first step while we were yet sinners, Romans 8.32 says.
