Murmurs Indicate Heart Trouble- Part 1

That the human heart, I mean this physical organ here in the chest, is receiving more attention than perhaps any other time in the history of the world.

Because heart disease heads the list as the leading cause of death in the United States and in many other countries.

I'm not going to study all those reasons tonight, but I'd like to get some lessons from it.

You know, I read a statement when I was in 1 of the offices of the medical college the other day.

Now this sounds like a fantastic statement, but it was in the news of the American Medical Association.

It said that a report indicated that research work now being done would result in soon being able to make artificial hearts.

And that the business of making artificial hearts would eventually be the number 2 industry in the United States, coming only after the making of automobiles.

But if anything remotely like that were to happen, it would really be something, as we say, wouldn't it, Frank?

This only highlights what I've just said, that the human heart is receiving a great deal of attention today.

Now, Brother Fields, I wish you'd come up here.

And what's that good for, that stethoscope?

Doctors and those who help them use this instrument in dealing with the heart and the circulatory system as well as with the lungs.

But just now we're thinking about the heart.

Now, when a doctor puts this instrument on and puts it over the heart, of course there are many things that he's listening for.

Brother, could you just tell us some of the things that the doctor might find as he listens through that stethoscope?

Well, 1 thing he notices is the sound of the beat of the percussion which would indicate the force of the heartbeat.

Another thing that you might hear is what we call a murmur, which is sort of an undertone that surfs along with the beat.

Or another term that's used is fibrillation, which is a fluttering of the heart.

Number of these indicate damage in certain areas of the heart.

Maybe a larger, heavier pounding might indicate an enlargement of the muscles of the heart.

Have you ever had your heart listen to me?

Yes, most of you had your heart listen to.

Well, I'm not going to study all the different things about the heart tonight.

But I would like to study with you heart murmurs, because murmurs may indicate heart trouble.

A heart murmur doesn't sound like a cannon going off, does it, brother?

It doesn't even sound like a barking dog or 1 of these coyotes that we hear at night.

A murmur may be rather quiet, but murmurs indicate something.

And it's what those murmurs indicate that I'd like to have you think about tonight, and also what to do about it.

Because the great physician has his stethoscope, He's available for a physical, mental, and spiritual examination for those who are willing to submit to his scrutiny.

Let's turn to 1 Corinthians the 10th chapter verses 10 and 11.

It's talking about the children of Israel back there in the desert who for 40 years were on their way from Egypt to Canaan.

And 1 of the things that delayed them was this business of murmurs.

Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

Now all these things happened unto them for in sample, and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." What was all this written down for?

For us, right down here at the very end of time.

Do you mean that murmuring can indicate a condition that means destruction precisely.

Are there any murmurs that the great physician would detect with his stethoscope?

Now Paul is speaking here of some experiences that took place all along the way in the desert.

Exodus, the 15th chapter verses 23 and 24.

Now the 22nd verse said that for 3 days they hadn't found any water.

Maybe some of you know about some water problems.

Well, the 24th verse says, The people murmured against Moses, saying, what shall we drink?

3 days they didn't have any water and then they got bitter water.

Well now, it's about time to murmur after 3 days if nobody's done anything, isn't it?

No, because we've just read in 1 Corinthians 10, neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured.

God wrote down what they did not so we could copy them, but so that we wouldn't copy them.

They were in samples of the sad results of murmuring.

Well, God gave them some water, he pointed out a tree to take care of the bitterness, and of course the people were happy.

But now the 16th chapter, The very next chapter, the second verse, what are they doing again?

The whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.

What were they murmuring about this time?

Let me tell you friends, when you touch the water and touch the food of people, you really touch something.

And the whole congregation were doing what?

17th chapter, they ran out of water again.

Third verse, And the people thirsted there for water, and the people murmured against Moses and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

The next verse said, things were so bad they were about ready to stone Moses.

3 chapters, and every chapter, what do you hear?

16. Prophecy’s Why So Many Churches

Tonight's message is entitled, Why So Many Churches?

Why So Many Churches and How Does Bible Prophecy Show That?

When you look in the Bible, you discover there's only 1 Jesus.

However, what you discover in Bible prophecy is that there are 2 women contending for the name of Christ.

There are 2 women contending for the name of Christ.

You have what the Bible describes as the harlot woman of Revelation 17.

And then you find out that there is a pure woman found in Revelation chapter 12.

And you discover these 2 women are vying or contending for the name of Christ.

And what you begin to discover in Bible prophecy is that a woman in Bible prophecy simply represents the people of God.

What you find in Jeremiah chapter 6, verse 2, this is what Jeremiah says, I have likened or compared the daughter of Zion to a lovely and delicate woman.

Oftentimes Christ's church is called the bride of Christ.

So a woman in Bible prophecy represents a group of people who are following God.

And what you find out is that there are 2 women who are vying for the affection of God.

However, there's something interesting about 1 of the women and there's something quite unusual about the other woman.

So what we find is 2 groups of people vying for the name of Christ.

We're coming right down to the very end of this world's history, and because of it, all sorts of things are taking place.

Deception is worldwide, and what we are finding is there is mass confusion.

And we wanna make sure we're following the word of God.

So what we're going to do is we're going to first identify this first harlot woman.

So everybody take your Bible, let's go to Revelation chapter 17, verse 1.

We need to identify this woman, this scarlet woman.

Let's find out more about her and what the book of Revelation says.

Revelation chapter 17 starting with verse 1.

Okay, well let's discover who this woman is.

Verse 1, then 1 of the 7 angels who talked, who had, excuse me, then 1 of the 7 angels who talked, who had, excuse me, then 1 of the 7 angels who had the 7 bulls and talked with me, saying to me, come I will show you the judgment of the great what?

Harlot, who sits on many waters with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a what?

Scarlet beast, which was full of names of blasphemy, having 7 heads and 10 horns.

The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and was adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.

And on her forehead a name was written, Mystery Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth.

I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.

And when I saw her I marveled with great amazement.

But the angel said to me, Why do you marvel?

I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the 7 heads and the 10 horns.

The beast which you saw was and is not and will ascend out of the bottomless pit and go into perdition.

And those who dwell on the earth will marvel whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world when they see the beast that was and is not and yet is.

Here is the mind which has wisdom, the 7 heads, or 7 mountains on which the woman sits.

Now we take a good look at some of these characteristics and what we begin to discover is that these traits begin to help us identify very clearly who this beast power is.

Well let's take a good look at this number 1 she is called a harlot does anybody know what a harlot is a Prostitute that's exactly right the Bible makes it very clear.

This woman is a prostitute in other words she's selling her body for what?

We also discover she's dressed in purple and scarlet.

Because when you go to the Old Testament, only the priests were dressed in purple and scarlet.

And so this woman has this religious garb.

Number 3, she's not just called a harlot, she's called the what?

Blasphemy well, let's keep going with some of these identification points She sits on 7 hills or 7 mountains as the Bible says She persecuted the saints and she ruled over the kings of the earth.

So when we take a good look at all those characteristics, we have come across this power before, we have come across this church before.

We know very well who this church is clearly identified as.

And what we discover is about, this is referring to the Roman church system.

In fact, you go out into the world and what you will discover about Rome, it's called the city on the 7 hills.

But there's a lot more identification that's there that we need to understand.

And it helps us understand why this is extremely important when it comes to Bible prophecy.

What we discover is the papal power has connections all over the world, influence all over the world, not just Christian countries, but well-known third-world countries whose primary religion is not Christianity.

Not just Islamic countries, but even Hindu countries, we discover that the Roman papal church power has hands in nearly everything.

Many world leaders will consult the Pope when it comes to making big decisions, world decisions, foreign policies.

And so we see very clearly that this harlot woman is none other than the same Roman church system that we have identified.

We understand from Bible prophecy that the whole world wanders after this power.

We learned several quotations and by the way, somebody also asked me a question at the table, and by the way, when I'm going around the table and I haven't met you yet, feel free to shake my hand, I'd love to meet you.

But somebody asked me a question about all the quotations that we're putting up.

If you want, tomorrow, I'm going to have about 4 pages of those quotes and I'll get them to you.

Okay, we'll make sure we get that to you tomorrow.

And you see some of these quotations about blasphemy, claiming to be God and claiming to have the power to what?

And those were the things that the Jews actually accused Jesus of.

But he wasn't committing blasphemy because he really was God and really could forgive sins.

We discover some of these quotations as, let's continue with this.

For he is so great dignity and power that he forms 1 and the same tribunal with Christ.

We the popes hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.

The pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but He is Jesus Christ Himself hidden under the veil of flesh.

We discover several of these quotations from Catholic leadership, Catholic literature, identifying the title of the Pope.

We also discover something very interesting and this helps us understand more about Bible prophecy.

Written, Mystery Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth.

We discover that on this woman's name, on this woman's head, there is a very interesting name written.

This isn't just like the Babylon of the old days.

This is Babylon, modern day Babylon, modern day confusion.

15. How Egypt Proved the Bible to be True

Father in heaven, we thank you so much again for tonight.

And Lord, we thank you that in your presence we can find peace.

And Lord, in your presence we can find guidance as well.

And we know that every person who is here tonight is here to hear a message from the Lord.

And so God, we know you never disappoint us.

We thank you for the blessings in Jesus' name, amen.

Tonight's message is entitled, How Egypt Proved the Bible to be True.

Well we looked at prophecy and we see how prophecy proves the Bible to be true.

But tonight's message you're going to see how Egypt actually proved the Bible to be true.

Tomorrow night's, excuse me, Tuesday night's study is entitled Prophecies, Why So Many Churches?

We look out into our world today and we see the Catholics, we see the Methodists, we see the Baptists, we see all sorts of denominations, even those who are non-denominational which are a denomination of themselves And the question is asked all the time, wait a second, where do all these churches come from when there's only 1 Bible?

How did all this take place when there's only 1 truth?

Well, come on Tuesday and you're going to discover in this last week how this took place.

And don't forget you guys, there's a meeting Tuesday night, Wednesday night, Friday and Saturday and then we are done with the prophecy seminar.

So make sure you don't miss any night of this week Well, how Egypt proved the Bible to be accurate?

Well, how did Egypt prove the Bible to be accurate?

You're going to see something very interesting about archaeology about Anthropology as well and you're going to see some remarkable things that actually confirm the accuracy, the precision of the Word of God.

The unique Egyptian desert's very interesting.

The climate and the environment does something very special.

The unique Egyptian desert preserved the mummified bodies of the pharaohs for thousands of years.

What several archaeologists and anthropologists discovered that in the study of Egyptian culture, that what they were able to do was to take a good look at a lot of mummies, mummified corpses, and discover that the Egyptian desert had a very unique way of preserving these bodies.

And so these experts could go back and look at a lot of these mummified corpses and discover so much about Egyptian culture thousands of years ago, whereas in other areas they would have difficulty.

But because of the Egyptian climate and terrain, these bodies were preserved extremely well.

What did these archaeologists discover as they were excavating the sites of Egypt?

1 thing they discovered is a lot of corpses.

In fact, some experts have excavated over 10, 000 corpses in just 1 area.

1 of the things you begin to notice is how well some of these bodies are actually preserved.

Egyptians buried in shallow graves which provided for a natural mummification.

And you're going to see some other pictures along with that.

And you go into the Egyptian tombs and you discover all sorts of things about the Egyptian culture and the way that they mummified these tombs.

You begin to discover some of the things that were taking place during that culture at that time Well, you also discover some of the unusual things about this these bodies.

There is 1 expert She is somebody who did a lot of what is the word I'm looking for right now?

It slips my mind when you're working on a dead body.

Actually, this woman did autopsies on more than 1, 000 different corpses, Egyptian corpses.

And this is something that she began to discover as she was excavating, as she was doing autopsies on a lot of these corpses.

She discovered after doing x-rays on at least 14, 000 mummies some interesting patterns.

You know what's interesting about these things is as she was doing the autopsies and doing x-rays and MRIs, she began to discover interesting ways about how many of these Egyptians actually died.

How does that, how does it prove the Bible to be true?

She discovered after doing autopsies on Ramsey II that he actually died of a massive heart attack.

They were able to do an x-ray on some of his arteries and discovered the same patterns that are found in people today who die of heart attacks.

And by that same logic and by deducing that, the evidence, they can see very clearly that many of these Egyptians died of lifestyle diseases, The same diseases that people die of today.

And it's very interesting about how the Egyptian desert preserved the bodies for study today.

Watch something that was said by 1 of the team members.

We were a bit surprised by how just how much atherosclerosis we found on ancient Egyptians who were young, says team member James Sutherland, a radiologist at the South Coast Radiological Medical Groups in Laguna Hills, California.

An autopsy of a young Egyptian named Nek revealed the presence of trichinosis parasite.

Egyptians believed that this was caused by the consumption of pork.

So many of these experts are able to look at some of these corpses and discover the very things that they died of and what they were were lifestyle diseases.

In other words, the things that they were putting in their mouth, the ways they were treating their bodies, was determining how they were dying and because of it, their bodies were preserved by the Egyptian deserts and they were able to see the same things that take place today.

Professor Tony Hederet of the Cardiovascular Research Group at the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences says, there is unequivocal evidence to show that atherosclerosis is a disease of ancient times, that's hardening of the arteries, induced by diet, and that the epidemic of atherosclerosis, which began in the 20th century, is nothing more than history revisiting us.

Now how does that prove the Bible to be true?

You're gonna see something very interesting, something that, about what the Bible actually says about the Egyptian culture.

Now, many of the things that they discovered about these Egyptian mummies is that they died of lifestyle diseases that are common today.

Heart disease, cancer, arthritis, obesity, high blood pressure, rheumatism, and parasites, and even STDs.

Those things are very rampant today in today's culture, but when they looked at the Egyptian mummies, they discovered that they died of those lifestyle diseases.

In other words, a lifestyle disease is a disease that's caused by the way a person lives.

This is the way you treat your body and because of the way you treat your body, this is what takes place.

And so they discovered that these Egyptians, many of them had died of these common diseases, these lifestyle diseases that take place today.

But wait a second, how does that actually prove the Bible to be true?

Well, we're going to discover from Bible prophecy that God's way is the best way.

And when you follow God's ways, you begin to discover that God is interested in your happiness.

He wants you to enjoy the 1 life that you have.

This is a very interesting thing that was said by God to the children of Israel in the book of Exodus chapter 15 verse 26 If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes I will put none of the Egyptians, none of the diseases on you, which I have brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you." Now notice what God is saying right here, it's very interesting.

He is saying something very peculiar to the Israelites.
